(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with a predicted high of 9c/47f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Shove those fucking clouds up your fucking ass.” Hmmm…no, thank you!

It’s odd because they came into the rescue as kittens so they’ve never really known anything but fosterers. Nobody seems to have a clue why they’re so scared of things. They have improved a lot since we’ve had them, but they still make me feel like it’s one step forward and two steps back all the time.

And I didn’t even have to go to work to get that!

Good to see you back again! I’m glad everything is going so well for you, and that’s great news about Junior

Yesterday ended quite well, I managed to get a load of page corrections done for our online module choices for next year so that’s out of the way. I have a second batch of pages that need to be checked and there’s bound to be some changes for those. After I logged out of work, I did a Rockfit class then had a little bit of sofa time with Shadow before I had to get up again and make dinner. I also went out to haul the biiiiiig recycling bin out for collection.

So far today, the cats have been fedicated, the litter trays are clean, the biiiiiig bin has been emptied and returned to where it usually lives, and I’ve had some breakfast. I have a few things on my list for today, we have some language test papers and take-home exams that need to be properly formatted and then uploaded for approval. I want to get that out of the way before I start tackling forms for module choices.

More tea needs to be ingested first though!

Stoopit brain decided 4:30 was a good time to wake up. I don’t want to be awake now.

Being efficient ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. I got a tax-relevant document in the mail after I’d submitted my taxes. Dammit. Now I have to wait till mid-Feb to submit an amendment. Dammit. And I have this gut feeling that my $39 will go away. Dammit.

No wonder people hate paying taxes - it’s a pain in the patoot. I suspect there’s a lobby of tax preparers who want it to stay complicated so they can stay in business. Dammit.

I’m ready for my podiatrist appointment and I’ll be leaving in about an hour or so. Afterwards, I need to go to Lowe’s to return the tool I bought last week - it’s the wrong size. I’ll see if they have the right one, then I’ll head to Aldi before going home. So fun morning ahead.

Today’s weather will be almost spring-like. Weds and Thurs will be icky days, (rain and maybe snow.) Firday will be nice, Sat will be icky. Stoopid weather.

That’s all I’ve got. Happy Tuesday!

Have you seen this book?
Manifold Destiny
I believe it’s out of print now. Somewhere I have a copy of it. Growing up in the automotive industry, it was fun to read although we never did try to actually cook anything on an engine at work.

Of course you are!!!

Hurray!

Maybe I’ll see you there! MusicMan is all out of fixins for his lunch for this week.

Big day today! I’m heading up north and going to get to see three different friends. First, I’ll get to hang with my BFF and another friend in Cuyahoga Falls. (And a dog! How could I forget getting to hang out with the pup???) Then I’ll slide over to Tallmadge to drop off some long awaited, long promised goodies to my friend who is being treated for cancer. I made this peanut butter cup cheesecake around Christmas and it’s been in the freezer for her since then. She actually has chemo this morning, so I’ll just be topping by to drop things off in the afternoon.

The reason for the trip, though, is because our wonderful doctor hooked me up. He referred me to a compounding pharmacy that makes the GLP-1 that I take and their price is somewhere between 40 and 50 percent less than what I’d been paying. So, after I see my friends I’ll stop there on the way back.

Right now I’m watching the poodle investigator sniff her way around the living room. I moved some furniture around yesterday and she’s still trying to figure things out.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and N.O.S. It’s laundry day and I can hardly contain myself. That’s the big item on today’s agenda. We shall be our usual RDOS selves and sup will be leftovers. I may or may not make a Sam’s run. I have a list but right now do not have motivation.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Hey!! Dropping in to say hello. I mostly lurk these days because I’m so damn busy. I picked the right week to drop in! Thanks oopsie!

SenWife is gone more than half the time lately so I’ve got the household to run. There are just too many things happening so it’s just easier for me to take care of everything even when she’s back.

SenBoy’s class had a school play. He had a minor part, but did it really well. It’s hard to believe that we’ve only been back in Japan for two years. The kids’ Japanese has really gotten much better.

SenGirl is headed off to Germany for three months for a foreign exchange. When she comes back the German girl will stay with us for three months. I studied German for two years in high school, but I think I only remember a dozen words.

Both kids are really enjoying snowboarding this season. SenBoy can still continue but SenGirl’s season ends this weekend. I love going with them, but they have gotten too fast for me to keep up.

My mother isn’t in the best of health. She’ll turn 90 this year and unfortunately is slowing down. My sister lives with her.

Morning all. Bladder had me awake at 2am, but went back to bed until 6:30 so am moderately well-rested. In a couple of hours I go see the surgeon for a progress report, hopefully all is going well. After that the day is pretty wide-open, so we’ll see how much ambition I have (not much, I suspect). Due to get near 70F again today, but rain and thunder-boomers are due tomorrow.

boo fae, sounds like you had a good day, Hope today’s is equally good.

FCM, ah for the old days when I was making so little I could do the 1040EZ. Have a good feets day at the Docs.

I lived there for the better part of 20 years. And be careful driving around the Tallmadge Circle!

Sensei, good to see you about these parts again. Sounds like an exciting year in the household. Best wishes for your mom.

And time for the big bowl of Cheerios (and an apple). Have a good 2sDay all.

There are at least 10 different flavors of Cheerios.
The cereal isle is whack!

Have I got a story for you!

It was the night of my 17th(?) birthday… My friends and I had gone to see a concert at Blossom (I forget which one). After some dilly dallying we were coming home through the circle. Wait, first let me describe my vehicle! My dad worked at a dealership in Stow and I’d sometimes come to work with him to hang out or whatever. Everytime I went there for a good long time there was a red 1984 S-10 player sitting there. The person that owned it had given up on it because they didn’t want to pay for the repairs. Well, I got into the habit of teasing my dad and saying, “Look! There’s my Blazer!!!” I finally wore him down.

Anyways, so he had the repairs done and it was mine until that fateful night. We were coming home through the circle and somehow the brakes went out. I plowed right through one of the signs where you enter the circle. No one was injured. The most interesting parts were discovering that a) the brakes were working just fine when when the police got there and b) convincing the police that we hadn’t been goofing around or drinking!

The upside is that after the crash, my dad had the bodywork done and then he fully restored the Blazer and had them paint it a much brighter red! It was so cool looking after that.

My dad was a good man who cared greatly for others. Those are the kinds of things that I’m choosing to remember about him.

Oh, and another Tallmadge Circle story just popped into my head! My dad and I both worked at the same dealership after I got older. We’d ride to work together most days. We were absolutely NOT morning people and would have very little conversation until the designated spot. We’d be coming the back way through Mogadore and we’d get to the last light before the circle. That light was officially designated as “The Talk Light.” We were awake enough and preparing ourselves for the day and there we were ready to start a conversation!

If most of you are wondering what Sticky Buns and I are talking about, Tallmadge Circle has 4 roads (8 entry/exit points) on a block-sized circle, see this picture: https://captivly.com/storage/2023/05/Things-to-Do-In-Tallmadge-Ohio-21-scaled.jpg

Waiting for my turn at the podiatrist office…

And I’m about to get my toe hacked up. So there’s that’s fun. The numbing stuff didn’t. She’ll stick it again.

How come my hat just shrunk?

I don’t think you could pay me enough to do your job. Just being a Nextdoor mod was stressful, the Dope must be pretty insane at times.

So it was 52F when I got up so I put my baby tree outside. Now the temp is starting to drop so I’ll bring it back in when it gets under 50F. Other than that, my plans are stitching the day away. GG helps by laying on the loveseat so I can reach back and fluffle his fur while stretching the kinks out of my back. Jolene doesn’t like it when she gets ignored so she’s go and fuck with Hubs and keep him busy so everyone has something to do when I’m stitching.

Huh. The middle of my post disappeared when I hit post.

metal mouse, I don’t have a creative bone in my body. People have been using their cars to cook food for longer than I’ve been alive. Youtube has plenty of dashboard cooking videos and Dad was wiring food to the car’s manifold to cook when we were on long car trips before I was in school.

I’ve seen the book sticky linked to, but I think Dad’s road roast recipe predates the book. Nowadays, Jeepers are the big manifold cooks. We rarely went out on a group run where someone didn’t have something wired to the manifold and a few folks even had hand-made racks mounted in their engine compartment for cooking things at different heat depending on the distance from the manifold.

FCM what is being done to your toe bean? Ingrown nail!

Across the street tree limb removal and wood chipping is happening. Ursala is hiding. I am not amused with the noise.

I’ve been experiencing on and off double vision at a distance for about a week. This afternoon I have an appointment with the ophthalmologist who specializes in double vision. Whoda thunk there was such a thing?

Me. Sigh…

So it wasn’t busy on the 100. But the 300 was slammed, and I ended up helping load on the 200, because they gave the regular loader a 4 car set, including a bulk stop.

Because cats.

This is literally true.

Greetings!

Yep, ingrown, exacerbated by the way FCD trimmed it because we didn’t know what he did was wrong. So the doc cut out the nail that was ingrown - all the way to the root - and did something to kill that part of the root so it shouldn’t grow back, Once it was all numb, I lay there playing on my phone trying to not think of what she was doing. Yeah, I’m a bit of a surgical wimp. But apart from the stick of the needles, it was painless, and now my toe is all wrapped up.
Imgur
The bandage around my foot got messed up when I pulled my sock off, but the toe was unaffected. Anyway, I have instructions for FCD to tend to it for the next 2 weeks, then I go back and all should be well… as long as I can keep Tobias from stepping on it!!

I made all my stops, the biggie being at Aldi to get sketty sauce fixin’s - I am all out!!! That’s this afternoon’s plan - making sketty sauce.

OK, back to my salad.

Went down to get in the car to head for Costco. It started, though reluctantly, and I couldn’t disengage the parking brake. Shut it off, tried it again and no start. I’m assuming a dead battery after nine years, which isn’t bad at all. Called AAA and joined up to get service. Since it hasn’t been 72 hours, it will be a $50 charge, plus $200 for the battery. I’ve been noticing a hesitation in starting over the past couple of weeks, but thought perhaps I was imagining things. At least it didn’t happen at Costco in these frigid temps, although I expect they probably could have done a battery replacement on site.

Anyway, shopping deferred and waiting for someone to show up. Hopefully, in this age of electronics, this won’t affect any other components.

That is a big bandage, FCM!

-22C here and a light snow falling. Everything is grey; from my office window it’s hard to tell where the horizon ends and the sky begins.

Had a heck of a time getting my shoe back on. Luckily, it was an extra wide!
