(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Crocs or hard soled slippers will be your friend.

Just a tip from a nurse who is very fond of you: have some Tylenol or ibuprofen or naproxen over the counter on board before all that local completely wears off. Like now, if you haven’t already.

And as much as you can today, sit in your recliner with your foot and leg all the way elevated. Do essential tasks but postpone routine tasks like a shopping trip or laundry, cleaning out a fireplace or stove til tomorrow or the day after that.

Been there, done this.

BBBoo - time-release Tylenol has been ingested and I write this from my recliner. Tobias is in school, so I’m safe so far. I’m starting to feel my toe already. FCD is standing by to tend to me and my pedal digit. I think I’m fully qualified to chill!

Sketty sauce can wait till tomorrow.

Good afternoon all. The surgeon has inspected his work and pronounced it good, I can go back to swimming and cycling (which I’ll tone down a bit and work back up) adn he approved the start of weight training in March. He said there was a 10% chance of a re-occurrence in the future, but he noted that meant a 90% chance that it’ll never be a problem again. So that is good news. Will head off to the gym here in a little bit.

FCM, no peeking under the bandage!  Hope everything is fine and I;d take BBBoo’s advice if I were you–as you obviously did…

JtC, I rather think you have a couple creative bones…and I’ve never thought once about using my car to cook food, most of my worries is getting food home from the store before it defrosts/spoils…

wet one, hope your eyes get to doing better.

Cookie, I’ve got AAA coverage just for the possibility of battery failure, so far I used them once a couple years ago, hope you are mobile now.

Onward to the afternoon!!

Happy Tuesday everyone. This has become one of my favorite online places to visit. @Aspenglow described it perfectly.

I was playing with one of the cats last night and he managed to perfectly nick an artery on the side of my hand. Now the last two knuckles of my right hand are swollen and bruised. It’s a good thing you’re so cute, Oliver (and insisting on being held and purring up a storm as I peck this out).

peedin I hope you get some answers and a solution. That doesn’t sound fun.

FCM ouchie! I second BBBoo, take it easy - it’s going to be quite tender the next several days. But hopefully you won’t have to worry about an ingrown nail in that toe again.

cookie Have you check with your insurance company to see if roadside assistance is included or can be added for cheap? Mine costs $1/month which seems incredibly reasonable.

metal mouse great news from the surgeon! You’ve been eager to get back into it and I’m glad the doc agrees it’s time.

It’s so nice today – currently 57° and partly sunny, on its way to 59 – that I actually turned off the heat and cracked a couple of windows! It’s a bit breezy (20-30 mph), but the wind isn’t that cold. We’ll revert to normal February weather tomorrow, with a forecasted high in the upper 30s, then we’ll bounce around the 30s/40s (with rain here and there) for several days. There’s a chance of some snow next week, around Wed/Thurs, but I’m hoping it winds up being either a dusting or rain: I don’t want anything to keep me from driving to the MD jazz festival on the 14th, and I really don’t want to have to shovel my car free again. It’s pretty typical for us to get snow over Presidents Day Weekend: I just need for any white stuff to hold off until my car is in the hotel’s garage, and then be gone by the time I’m ready to drive home Sunday night.

FCM, I can empathize! I’ve had terrible luck with the nails on my big toes: I had ingrown toenails removed from both of them back in late 2008/early 2009, then one of them developed a persistent fungal infection and was removed in 2019 – but it grew back with the infection, so it was permanently removed in 2021. I don’t know what happened/what I did to the other nail, but it’s been clear for a while now that it also needs to go (I keep putting off making the appointment because there’s no real pain and the aftercare is annoying).

I have a couple of work meetings this afternoon, but nothing that I’m dreading (which is nice). I’m hoping they will help the rest of the day go by a little faster. It will also help if I eat some lunch: I can’t believe it’s after 1pm and I’m not starving already! I think a banana, some Hormel pot roast, and a single-serve bag of Goldfish will do the trick. And maybe a couple of Lindt double chocolate truffles for dessert.

I’ve had Bailey since she was 3 months old, and she has always been a little jumpy. When she was around 1 year old I asked the vet about it, because I felt bad and like it was somehow my fault, and she said some dogs are just jumpy/kinda nervous. I can easily imagine the same being true of cats!

Booo! (N.O.B.) Didn’t there used to be a law or a rule or something that anything tax-related had to be delivered by January 31st? Was that maybe just W2s? Or maybe I’m just imagining that whole thing…?

I took German for two years when I lived in England – the equivalent of 7th and 8th grades – and these days I can only remember how to count to ten and ask “what time is it?” (because the teacher was a bit absent-minded and once showed us the same filmstrip repeatedly)…but I no longer know how to properly pronounce “spät.” Heh.

I’ve been noticing a hesitation in starting over the past couple of years. :joy:

Yay!

Why, I oughta. . .

i hope things go well with “market piggy”.

a good podiatrist is fantastic. i’m seeing mine every 4 weeks. my “market piggies” have a bit of trouble on one of the top corners. she wants to keep an eye on it and get it cleared up so it can grow properly.

i was considering going for pedicures… i feel more confident in a podiatrist.

The shot wore off.
It hurts.
Someone is picking up the toradol for me.
I am afraid to take it as they say it can cause stomach bleeding.

The risk of stomach bleeding is greatly increased if alcohol is consumed, so don’t drink. Be gentle with your stomach, have food in your stomach, even just toast or crackers, when you take the toradol pills. Only take the toradol if you really need it. Occasionally see if a dose of ibuprofen or Tylenol will handle the pain well enough that you can take the toradol less often. Stop taking toradol doses altogether as soon as you can.

Food in your tummy when you take it
No alcohol
Try spacing doses, alternate with Tylenol/ibuprofen
Stop using toradol ASAP

Just took one. The pain was a bit much, even with the ice pack.
The pharmacist said stomach upset is the most common.
I once took a round of metronadozale and by the end my stomach was bad.
I am eating.
I don’t drink alcohol.
I figure just lying down a lot ( back doesn’t hurt when I lay on my side) will help the healing.
I may not take any more doses.
I am such a scardey cat.
I’m not going out tomorrow so will spend my time lying and reading the new issue of Rolling Stone.

Holy crap, the snow plow just went past the house going at least 50 MPH. And you gotta whomp on it to get that fast from the intersection just down the road. Not like I’m going anywhere, so I don’t care if it gets done quickly, but that seems a bit excessive. 'specially cuz the speed limit is 30 here.

Goo is always hungry. She’ll eat her kibble, but always begs to get some of whatever we’re eating. (She doesn’t always get it. I don’t think she’d like Sriracha.) Catmom only gives the cats ⅛ of a can of gooshy food in the afternoons, but they have kibble available any time they want it. Goo wolfs down her wet food. Abbey doesn’t always finish hers, so Goo cleans up whatever she leaves.

Goo has been losing weight.

Catmom just made an appointment with the vet for Saturday at 11:30.

I took the pill, water and chicken.
An hour or so later, I still feel discomfort, but its doable.
That was some bad pain.
If its tolerable tomorrow, I don’t plan on taking another.
Funny. One of my ex’s called.
Told him he only cared about himself and I now am all about making myself happy and hes not qualified to do that.

BIL called FCD - he’s being evicted. FCD called the case worker. We are NOT taking in BIL. He’s threatening to take all his pills again. That’s the 5th or 6th time in the last year.

Nope, not getting involved.

On the brighter side, we had pizza for supper, while means I get leftover pizza for breakfast. Yum!

Oh dear. Does he have some time to find a new location?

FCM, I once had surgery on my left big toe for a bunion. Sheesh, the X ray made it look like there was a walnut in there. Had to wear a boot for a while.

Not our problem. I don’t mean to sound cold, but he’s been pulling this crap for ages and his parents enabled him. He’s in the hands of his caseworker. The guy did tell us they were working on getting him into some program and the impending homelessness could expedite the process. But, as I said, not our problem. We don’t need to take on a 65-y/o child.

My eyes got dilated and I look like Little Orphan Annie from the funny papers. I have divergence insufficiency which means my eyes don’t come apart when I look in the distance. The MD says often this fixes itself but if it’s not fixed in 3 weeks I get glasses for driving. Oh, and just to make sure I haven’t had a stroke I get to have yet another MRI. That’s four in the last 2 months.

FCM,
What were the pizza toppings?
Enquiring minds want to know.

And I agree that cold pizza is a fine breakfast dish.
