I went to the office, and the manager agreed to a 15-month lease, so whew! We will have to go get it notarized, but that should be doable. I then gymed at the gym.
He’ll be kneeling at your feet!
shoe, dang, I hate that you’re sick. I hope Pepto and edibles do the trick. I wish I lived closer so I could bring you homemade soup and give you a shoulder to cry on when needed. I think someone should make shirts that have multi-thickness kleenex sleeves and.or shoulders. One gets drenched, and you just rip it off between “There, there.” and “I’ll always be here for you.”
Holy crap, I had to read that twice and then finish the paragraph before I was sure you were talking about food.
ETA: The Seattle news station at the gym said we’re to get 2.5" of snow tomorrow and tomorrow night. The NWS says less than an inch. Tomorrow is shot day. I guess I’ll plan on taking the buses, at least to get there. There are steep slopes I have to walk down, and I don’t have a sled. Or good brakes on my feet.
Hugs to shoe.
The stomach is so important.
I wish the only health problem people had was a sore elbow.
Surprised I woke at 2 am.
I don’t remember any dream, yay!
Lying on my right side, I feel no pain.
About to go to bathroom.
Lets hope my back isn’t too bad.
Well, they stayed down, so that’s a promising start.
When Car(e)less Co-worker gallantly delivered the bottle to my door (he was getting a lift home) I had the foresight to ask him to open it for me, since I feel as weak as a wrung-out rag & knew the childproof cap would be a problem.
Anyway, after I took a nice, big glug, I closed the damn thing, mostly out of force of habit
Well, I wanted to take some more before bed (more of something is always better, right?) and of course, I absolutely could not get it open.
Called him up real quick to see if his was still awake, and thankfully he was. I was like, “Ummm, this is an unusual request, but I have literally nobody else to ask, especially at this hour.” (It’s after 1:30 a.m., it’s not like I can knock on my neighbor’s door.)
He laughed, I drove quickly to his place, and he very nicely opened the stoopit thing. I was like, “I promise not to close it again!”
Dose # 2 seems to be assimilating, so imma try to get some rest. Just walking to & from my car wiped me out.
Not bad. If only I didn’t have to bend to get in the fridge.
Left side is sore.
Off to have a weird dream.
Hate waking up sweaty, maybe not fold the blanket so its like a double blanket.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/38f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Hey, sun. Where’s the fucking warmth, yo?”
Moooom hope the toe is feeling better today. I’m glad you and FCD are taking a tough line on BIL, you’ve had enough going on in your lives and he’s the last thing you need just now.
metal mouse hurrah for good news from the surgeon and a return to gentle exercise.
shoe hope you feel better soon too.
nellie excellent news on the renewed lease!
I had a nice quiet evening at home, then had to get up stupidly early for campus today. There may be a pub visit tonight, not sure yet as I have to wait for my friends to let me know if they’re coming out to play. One of them had a colonoscopy a few days ago and it takes him a while to get back on track with his medication so I’ll wait for him to email me and tell me if he’s fit to be out in public.
Other than that, I have much to do and not enough time to do it all.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 77 and cloudy. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and spend the afternoon in RDOS inactivities. This evenin’ is Wednesday night gatherin’ over to the church house which will take care of sup.
MOOOOOOM good for FCD and you for your stance on BIL. Hope he gets the help he needs.
shoe hope you feel better today.
Nellie great news about the lease!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe.
Fell asleep sitting up in my chair for about an hour (while absorbing the Pepto and snuggling with Monkey) then another four hours of hard, deep sleep in bed.
Awake for bio-break as usual, though I hope/plan to get way more rest.
I
Summary
even had to pee a bit, which I take as a good sign re: hydration, since I didn’t have to yesterday at all.
Made a cup of ramen last night, will sip on the remainder shortly.
Thanks for the good wishes, all. I’m still very weak and shaky, but the worst seems to be behind me.
Nellie, I’m glad you got a workable lease! FCM, yes, I’m happy that you are holding your ground against a firm boundary that you have set. And I hope your toe is ok, too! shoe, I hope your recovery is quick!
I am feeling a bit apprehensive about the rest of the week including today. I have a phone appointment with my psychiatrist today and I’m not sure where that is going to go. There’s lots of thing to talk about and while I like him, I don’t really know him that well and I’m not completely comfortable with discussions with him yet. Hopefully I’ll be more coherent and less nervous than I suspect I will be.
Yesterday was an excellent day spent with friends! And, as you may have seen on FB, it even included an unexpected bunch of hats!
Awake 2.0. My foot woke me around 3 - not because of the toe, but because of the bandage wrapped around my arch. It hurt like crazy! So I got up, found the scissors on my dresser (without turning on the lights - yay!) and by the light of the night light, I cut it off. I left my toe bandaged, but the part that was to anchor it to my foot was dispatched. Then I put the hospital sock back on (we have sooooooo many of those!) And after futzing on my tablet for about an hour, I was drowsy enough to fall asleep till about 7:30, so huzzah!
FCD just left for his appointment with the vampire - he sees the doc next week. When he gets home, I’ll shower and he’ll re-bandage my toe. I need to read all the instructions first because he’s not really big on that sometimes.
My main plan for the day is making sketty sauce. For now, I have the ice maker running, I’m having leftover pizza for breakfast, and doing my morning surfage. Life is good!
Morning all. Stayed in bed until 6:30am, with a couple of bladder trips, but more or less conscious now. 50-50 chance of rain today and tomorrow, but supposed to stay in the 70’s F, so that is good. Will try to be slightly more ambitious today, we’ll see how it goes.
{{shoe}}, hope you get to feeling better soon, just lying around can be wearying in itself; but a bad stomach bug can be pretty debilitating; keep up the Pepto. And Kudos to Car(less) Coworker, on fulfilling probably the strangest request he’s gotten in quite some time…
nellie, glad you could work out a lease to your liking; considering the issues they’ve had, I would think they’d do most anything to keep you, since I doubt any neighbor complains about all the noise you make… and take care getting to the doc today.
Sticky Buns, hope the conversation with the head doctor goes well. Haven’t checked Facebook yet but will be on the lookout for hats.
Showered, dressed, and re-bandaged with just a bit of gauze and a bandaid. The toe doesn’t look nearly as bad as I’d expected and it didn’t hurt at all as FCD put the goop and the new bandage on it. I’ll take that as a good sign. I need to keep it wrapped until the 18th when I go back to the doc. Meanwhile, I can wear my regular socks and shoes, altho today is a slipper day. Anyway, yay!
There is still pain, but its doable.
The toradol has made an improvement.
I will take one today.
It says every 6 hours but I don’t like overmedicating.
Even though the nurse saw no nits Monday, I will do my second shampoo today to be sure.
It actually made my hair fluffier than my regular shampoo.
Sitting around reading, then bible class later.
Snow on the way this afternoon, but likely little accumulation. We’ve only gotten about a third of the usual winter snowfall this year.
Off to the dentist in about three hours to get the crowns put in and hand them a large amount of cash.
Made it to exercise this morning, despite a really poor night’s sleep. Lots of joint pain, and I must have somehow put pressure on my right foot during the night, as I woke up in real pain on the top of the arch. Could barely put any pressure on that side. Luckily, it subsided after awhile. Everything else is achy also. WTF?
Ordered a replacement laptop from Costco yesterday. I hadn’t planned on getting one just yet, although there is an ominous shadow on my screen, but since China is giving us the finger on tariffs, the price is only going to go up. I’m not looking forward to transferring things over, but the pain will pass.
So I was on the 100 Table, and loading one package car, so lots of steps again. then I had to help load the Bottom Red set, because that was FUBAR(combination of 4 cars, each with a huge bulk stop, and a slow loader). The drivers had to finish load, and weren’t done by 0930. Which at that point the rest of the package cars had left the building, and had already done a stop. Also TPTB were in a tizzy, because they thought someone might have eaten a granola bar. . But I stopped and filled up Carmen(1.635 gallons).
If that was the standard, I’d never get to go to a pub.
That’s what happens when the parts are out of warranty!
BIIIIG pot o’sketty sauce simmering away. I used 2# of 80% ground beef, 1# of white mushrooms (chunked), a couple of onions, 2 big cans of crushed 'maters, a small can of petite diced 'maters, and a small (not the smallest) can of 'mater sauce. Plus garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Once I deem it’s simmered enough, I’ll let it cool, then pack it in freezer bags for future meals. I should set it out on the porch to freeze - it’s cold out there!! In fact, I may let it finish cooling outside before putting it in the freezer - save a little energy. And, yes, I’ll put it in a squirrel-proof container first.
Meanwhile, my toe is just fine - no pain at all! I took some time-release tylenol this morning, and I may take some at bedtime, but that will probably be it. I’m really surprised it doesn’t hurt - I’m usually a real wuss when it comes to pain.
Anyway, while the sauce is simmering, I think chillage is in order. Because why not?
It’s cold outside, with an ice storm warning from 7pm today until noon tomorrow.
I have the dogs scheduled for daycare tomorrow, as well as a lab visit and a doctor appointment.
I’m watching to see if the daycare is going to close for the weather, and thinking of rescheduling the lab visit. The doctor’s visit is in the afternoon when the temperature is supposed to be in the mid-forties.
I’ll have to remember to take treats with me in the morning to entice the boys to go with me when I go to pick up my son. The GR don’t like to go with me in the morning, but they need to go with me tomorrow so I can drop them off at daycare. The daycare is near his job, I really don’t want to come home to get them and then go right back out that way.
Today is trash day and I’ve gathered up everything for my son to take out. I’m not sure there is any room in the can though. If the roads are bad, or even if they are only threatening to be bad, the trash probably won’t be picked up anyway.
The snow plows drive pretty fast around here, as do the tractors.
So do the lawnmowers at the park. I didn’t know a riding mower could go that fast.
BooFae, I think some cats are just more timid than others. Dogs too.
I hope you feel better soon, Shoe
Looks painful, FCM. Just reading about anything about feet and toes makes me squeamish.
I don’t blame you about BIL. Why invite trouble into your home.

We’re back to “normal” February weather today: it’s currently overcast and 37°F – just one degree shy of the forecasted high – and there could be rain this evening with some freezing rain overnight. It’s not frigid or windy out there, though, so I’m alright with it. (Much to Mother Nature’s great relief, I’m sure. )
Yesterday I learned about a new professional certification that I plan to pursue. It’ll require my own time and money, and will be of limited value (though it will have some), but it’s in line with both my current job duties and my possible career paths and I’m kind of psyched about it. I don’t think it would hurt to have it on my resume at all. Also, I like to learn: a master’s degree was enough formal education for me, but I’ve earned a couple of professional certs over the years and I’m always on the lookout for applicable ones.
Today would have been my mom’s 77th birthday. She died in November 2015; hard to believe it’ll be 10 years! Thoughts of her are more happy than sad these days, but there’s still a little twinge on birthdays, etc.
In “sometimes it’s the little things” news, I’m quite pleased right now because I ordered a new hallway runner and it arrived today before the cleaners got here! It’s 17’ long and 13" wide, and replaces a similar one that finally got peed/pooped/puked on one too many times (no, not by me ). I’m glad that the cleaners didn’t spend any time vacuuming the old one just to then have me roll it up and toss it*. Pretty mundane and pointless, but the good timing made me happy.
*I didn’t want to simply toss the old one this morning and leave a bare hardwood hallway, because Bailey needs rugs in order to safely/easily get around the house.
I can’t believe the MD jazz festival is at the end of next week already! I made my hotel reservation back in August; as soon as the organizers announced that there was going to be a new venue (I figured rooms in the new place would get snapped up). This indoor, weekend festival started in 2009: I’ve gone every year since 2011 or 2012, and have stayed at the hotel every year since 2014…and I got to perform at the festival in 2022.
I meant that I’ve been hesitant to get started for the past couple of years!
Oh no…I hope Goo is okay!
You don’t. Not one bit.
I’m so glad they agreed!
I moved into my current place in April 2014, and over the years my property manager has gradually pushed the lease start/end dates such that my current lease expires at the end of June. If he did it deliberately I’m sure it’s because families are much more likely to move in the summer, while school is out, but – for that same reason – there’s a lot more competition for good rentals at that time of year. June is alright, though; I wouldn’t want it to expire in July or August, just because of the heat.
Ahhhh, that’s what it is! Thanks!
I used to always polish my toenails, and my podiatrist told me both times that I could polish the bare skin and no one would notice. It’s been almost 4 years, though, and I still haven’t wanted to do that: on me, at least, I don’t think it would look anywhere close to “unnoticeable”! There’s a much better chance that no one will notice the missing nail if there’s no color on any of them. Luckily, I’ve come to not mind my bare toenails.
Oh man…between that and the Thin Mints Frosty (avail at Wendy’s starting 02/21) I might have to seriously step up my fast food game!
