(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

So, you’re taking your dogs to visit a labrador?? (I crack me up!!!)

Doing a search to see if I need any visas for our cruise this summer, it turns out I need to get something called ETA from the UK. It’s a major pain in the patoot to apply via the app, and I’ve done it 3 times so far because my VISA keeps getting rejected by my credit union fraud department, despite me responding to the text telling them it’s legit. So I just talked to someone in the fraud dept and she said she’s reset my account. Here’s hoping it works this next time. All this over $12.83 application fee. Anyway, I’ll go thru it AGAIN in a few minutes. I want to make sure the various computers are reset.

So, how’s your afternoon??

My sketty sauce is done and cooling. I’ll bag it up shortly, leaving enough out for tonight’s supper. Then chillage shall occur again.

And I’m now locked out of UK ETA because of multiple uncompleted attempts. Thanks, VISA! Dammit.

I’ll try again tomorrow.

On to sketty bagging.

On my lunch break. I should probably eat something, but I don’t know what.

I got dinged $15 on my USAA credit card for being late. This is the second time. Last time, I assumed I’d misplaced the statement. This time, I knew I never received a statement. I never sign up for paperless statements, because I put the paper statements into my checkbook until I pay them. Then I write the payment confirmation number on the statement and put it into the shred bin. (I don’t use checks anymore unless I have to, because I ran out of registers. I keep a spreadsheet on my computer.) But they had my statements as paperless. I’ve had them change it back to paper-and-snail-mail, and they refunded one of the late fees.

Those hushkitties – the beef fat trimmings from dinner last night, that I cooked up to mollify Goo… They were in a little dish on the cutting board. I had intended to toss them into the trash when I went to bed, but I forgot. When I got up this morning, the dish was empty. Goo seems to be fine, though. Should be sunny on Saturday for her vet visit. We’ll take the Jeep.

Got a lil’ “breakfast snacker” from Tim H, and have eaten a whole 2 bites of it.
Hurts to swallow - I assume my esophagus is raw.
But what I did eat stayed down, and I even had time for another lil’ nap, since I was yawning the whole way home. THAT really helped; I think I might actually be able to make it through the whole shift - I was still really iffy on that before the nap.

All I hafta do it find clothing, and take care of the rats, then off I go.

Am bringing a packet of Cuppa Soup with me, plus a fruit-sauce thingie (like applesauce, but mangoes and something else) to hopefully tempt me into more snacks.

Man, though, that last nap now seemed to be the magic sauce.
See y’all tonight.

They are variegated. I’m not a big fan of Watercolors and usually cut out the sections I like, but this kit didn’t come with a full skein and I didn’t want to risk running out. I’m not doing the best job because of the white on white, so I’ll probably do it again with my choice of colors.

I’m going to post to everyone later, now I’m posting for opinions.

Gold french knots, silver french knots or the blue seed beads that came with the kit?
(to fill the small empty squares)

I’m going to vote gold to liven it up and add a little visual interest/variety (not sure how to word the concept in my head). To me, blue or silver would blend in a bit with the existing colors.

I have found frozen yogurt is really soothing for ones throat.

I bought an endoscope. No, I’m not gonna do a colonoscopy, I just wanted to see inside my ear canal without having to go to a doctor. I have hearing loss and tinnitus from working in a factory for 34 years, and from being 75 years old. Sometimes, I get a bad sinus day and/or increased ringing for no apparent reason, and I start wondering if I have an ear infection. This way, I can see the eardrum for myself, before rushing to the doc.
The GS Cookie dealer came around, and I spent $30. It turned out we still had a box in the freezer from last year, so we’re eating cookies.

I saw the orthopedic surgeon for the results of the MRI on my left hamstring. For those of you who don’t remember in May 2024 I had a fall off a table high mounting block and went to the ER. Nothing broken. Two weeks later, saw my PCP who said you probably have a small hamstring tear go to physical therapy. Which I did and there was little improvement.

Well, guess what? I have a big honking hamstring tear that cannot be repaired. The tendon that connects the three main hamstring muscles to the sitz bone disconnected from the bone. There is a 5 inch gap between the bone and the muscle. Needless to say, I burst into tears Because I was really scared I would have to hang up my saddle. I can continue doing what I have been doing as long as it doesn’t hurt me. I can continue to ride, but I need to devise a new way to get into the saddle. I need a big ass mounting block.

My first reaction after hearing the doctor say you have a complete hamstring tear was I want a cigarette.

I am not a happy camper. The ER doc and or my PCP should have ordered an MRI or at least told me to see an ortho. I could have had it surgically repaired but needless to say it’s too late now.

I hope that you’re sitting up and taking nourishment soonest!

I think the silver french knots would work well.

That’s some life altering news, wet one*. Hugs to both you and Ariel.

Irked, made the executive decision to take a half day off tomorrow and get a few things done. Penny will be here this weekend and I really don’t want to crate her if I go out. She’s young enough and in a not-so-familiar place and I don’t want her to get into anything that could hurt her.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Whelp, I lasted just over 2.5 hours today, so … improvement? LOL

I sat down a lot (which is unusually frowned upon, but everyone was being lenient so I guess my misery was obvious.)
Anyway, I’d take a sip of water, plunk down for a brief rest, and I’d feel … if not better, than less bad.
But as soon as I started moving around too much, I got woozy all over again. Sweaty, weird prickly sensation on my skin.

Next week’s paycheck is gonna be tragic, but whaddyagonna do?

S.M. is covering my closing shift, bless her, and told me if sitting down is what my body needs, then that’s what I should do.

The whole way home I was yawning, too, so I kinda suspect another episode of “shoe falls asleep sitting up in her chair” will happen soon.

Definitely silver.

“Contrast.”

Good term, and one I would normally know. I was apparently more tired when writing that than I realized.

I got most of the snow off of the Nursemobile, but not the ice. Wifey, RN cancelled her patients for tomorrow too. I tried to shovel the walk in front of the front door, but there’s thick ice where we’d been walking. It’s started to snow again, and is expected to continue until 1 ayem. Temps 26º to 28º Ferret Height.

ETA: Just started a fire.

The sidewalks looked wet but not icy this morning, so I braved the falling snow and hiked down to the bus station. The bus driver kept driving (not sliding) up onto the curb. Most of us passengers just kept :woman_shrugging:t2:at each other. My Epi-Pen expired, but when I told them what a hassle I’ve been having getting it refilled, they kindly said I could have the shot this time if I promised to get a new EP by the next appointment. Hey, I’m trying.

I was drenched by the time I got to the infusion center. A wet coat and mittens make the weather more miserable than it is, but I made it home. A guy on the return bus was generously handing out cigarettes to people. I know cigs are bad, but when you’re addicted and penniless, it must be very hard to do without. Every now and then a homeless person will ask me if I have a cigarette. I’m tempted to buy a pack to keep in my purse. (Thank you, younger me, for not smoking!) Every recipient was very grateful.

I’m so glad to be out of that wet coat and those socks! A hot bath sounds blissful.

Old Flame called while I was braving the elements. They got walloped with 20" of snow in 2 days back in Wyo. Of course, TPTB didn’t cancel school, just delayed it an hour. And here Louisiana cancels school if there’s a frosty look in the weatherman’s eye. My mind would be boggled if it had any boggles left.

Oh, I hope there is! Have one for the rest of us Mumpers!

Sticky, I hope the televisit goes well. I know how hard it can be to open up completely to someone you don’t know well.

Coppertone, the weird, vivd dreams are one reason I hate painkillers. I’m hoping that new painkiller, Journavx, that just got FDA approval will get covered by insurance soon.

shoe, I have cheap plastic thingies that get stubborn bottles open. I’m glad they work, as I have nobody to call, unless Ms. Dog would consent to chew the cap off. Glad you’re doing better. I like applesauce warmed in the microwave when my tummy is crummy.

FCM, so glad the toe is looking good and feeling OK. I’m glad you’re resting.

Aside from my marathon tuba-and-tap-dance sessions–and who DOESN’T long to hear my “Purple Haze” solo at 2:00 a.m.?–I’m pretty quiet.

Who needs a pub when they’ve got your fine selection of Potent Potables and 150 cocktail recipes? Heck, I’d come and buy a glass or two. Want me to bring my imaginary tuba? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I did it!

I made the damn soup I was yammering about all Monday.

I know that sounds like such a small thing, but it’s not.

It waa something about the phrasing of this one that did it for me, so thank you.

Plus it’s a Progresso (chicken and herb dumplings, if you must know) which is certainly heartier than sipping ramen broth.
I avoid the chicken chunks, but I lurve the dumplings and make myself eat my veggies.

This has gotta get me feeling better … right?

While it was heating, I forced myself to take out a whopping one (1) trash, and even that small effort left me tuckered out.

So imma sit here with Monkey, sip my soup, and pray for healing to occur.

I’m so sorry. I hope you can navigate something that will work for you!

shoe Feel better and enjoy your herb dumplings which honestly sound suspect to me, but hey, you do you.

JtC, I think I like the gold thread, too.

Today went ok if not quite an expected. The phone appointment was ok, but I’m not sure if it accomplished much. He did prescribe a new medicine for anxiety.

After that I did a bunch of dishes and cleaning. Then I decided to force myself to go over to the place where I used to hang out with other folks with mental health issues. I figured I could handle being sociable every once in awhile and it was just about time for afternoon crafts. I’m glad that I went. It was nice talking to my pals there.

I wouldn’t have thought they could go that fast.

Fingers crossed for good blood work.

Stand strong, you do not want to risk letting him stay for even one night lest you never get rid of him.

Dang about your toe, good that it isn’t hurting much.

Today I heard about your local cryptid, Snallygaster. I’ve been told that global warming is causing them to move west so they might be seen out this way on a dark and cloudy night.

And the hits just keep on coming!

I’ve had several MRI’s and they are so uncomfortable, I do hope this will be your last one for many years to come.

Can you build a bigger door?

I’ve been hearing about your storm. I hope it helps refill the now empty reservoir the farmers are depending on.

I read forward and am happy that you are feeling a little better. Drink more water and rest, your body needs both.

Hurray! I do love hats, I’m glad your day included them.

Do you have a Ubreakifix close by? I paid them to transfer all the data and pics from my broken phone to my new one and considered it to be money well spent.

Side gigs are all the rage nowadays.

:people_hugging:

I am so very sorry. I’m glad you can still ride. Can Ariel be taught to kneel for you or is she too small for that? I don’t know much about horses, I’ve just seen horses kneel so their riders can mount at Ren Fairs.

That was a very kind thing to do. Cigs are so very expensive nowadays. Back when I was first smoking I would share with strangers but shortly before I quit they were so expensive I didn’t even want to share with friends. And these were the same people I was sharing weed with!!!

Good for you! Eat it all and then go back to bed.

So besides not being able to make a choice about that piece, today was pretty routine and boring.

Parking at the gym is getting pretty crazy now that the equipment room is finished, folks are parking on the grass and filling the parking lot. Happily not a lot of gimps go to the gym so I can always find parking.

The pool was nice and warm today which tells me that there will be a swim meet tonight. I’ve noticed that they don’t heat the pool as much when its not being used often.

Many years ago, I lost a ring in the ocean while surfing (OK, while wiping out) and got in the habit of removing all jewelry before getting into the water. My habit was reinforced this morning. I always check out the pool drains when I first start my laps. If the wingnuts holding the drain covers down move, I’m going to want to know why!

Today I saw something shiny between the grid bars and dove down to find a very pretty gold and sapphire/diamond ring. I jammed it onto one of my fingers and swam the rest of my laps with my fist closed so I wouldn’t drop it. I turned it in to the reception lady on my way out so hopefully the owner will come back and get it.

It’s cold outside, but no snow, rain, or ice.
Daycare sent a cancellation notice.
I may reschedule the (medical) lab visit. Visiting with a labrador would be a lot more fun.
My son salted the path from the house to the garage and garage door.

The parking lot was almost empty when I dropped my son off at irk. It was expected because of the weather. And their sick leave starts on Feb 1 and a good number of the employees use those days as soon as they get them.
I told him if it is bad out, he is going to have to wait for a bit for me to get him. I’m not going out while it is dark outside.
Just change my name to Wussie.
He thinks he may have OT this week.

I have to confess. My hats are rather… untraditional. Like, almost anything can be a hat for me. Pillow? Yep. Kettle? Yes! Stuffed Animal? You bet! Pepperoni Pizza in a box? Of course! And, so on…
I think I inherited this tendency from my dad, but I’m not really sure. It’s partly to entertain MusicMan now and partly just for fun and the challenge of what I can manage to balance on my head!

They haven’t plowed our street. A neighbour has been going round and round on a quad, towing a couple of his daughters on ‘inner tubes’. The main road to the freeway is plowed, but I’ve heard it is icy and vehicles are sliding off. Someone posted an alternate route that comprises a couple of state roads that are better-plowed.
