SIL is here and OMG, I get to hear about Costco again. HELP!!!
I missed something.
(Actually, I miss a lot of /most things in these fast-moving threads.)
Had mine out in '98. They let me stay in the recovery room for maybe an hour after I woke up before sending me home.
Community service? Commodes? Comedians? Communist plots?

I wanted her to join the Girl Scouts, but her dad refused, said it was “too militaristic.” [/quote]
Smoke what??

CtE wrote a really nice letter to Hubby and I thanking us for all the support while she’s been in school.
Excellent news!
So happy to hear it I’m even willing to forgive you for saying “to I”.
Went shopping this afternoon – ended up having to use one of those electric go-cart things because it hurt too much to walk. Maybe if I use it another fifty times I’ll get used to the controls…

The actual operation of having my gallbladder out went fine. The aftermath left me with constant nausea and diarrhea for at least 1 1/2 years until they figured out the right meds to give me. Then all bile exiting my body ganged up against my teeth and I went from having 5-10 cavities my whole life to having approximately 40-50 in 1 1/2 years. This was part of what MusicMan was worried about was all the complications that came along with removing mine.
I just woke up from a nap and I feel awful. I feel like something is wrong. I was sneaking up on this feeling earlier and now it is full-fledged that there is something wrong or I’ve done something wrong. I hate it.
On the possible bright side is that I got an email inviting me to do a preliminary phone or video interview for one of the jobs that I applied for. Fortunately I can schedule it for next week after all the memorial chaos is done.
Baron Frankenstein: To know death, Otto, you have to f___ life… in the gall bladder!
Holy mother of all the gawds … my mother is STILL at it with me (via text) with long-ass screeds of how very, very disappointed she is with me and my life.
Now she’s giving me shit about “mistakes” I made years ago. Which I only made b.c. I’m not clairvoyant and cannot predict the future.
Stuff like for ex. the fact that I moved with a bed frame that barely fits into my current bedroom.
My bad!
I need this woman out of my damn head.
Oh, and to put it separately, and to leave in a more positive note, here’s the Mother’s Day card & poem one of our regulars gave us.
Remove her from your head. Stop reading the texts. Explain if you think she might get it.
I am starting to realize my mom wasn’t as bad as I thought.
Things have been crazy here due to health issues and tornado warnings. I haven’t mentioned my new project. This is the quilt for my 2024 block of the month. Note: this is not my work. It is the one hanging on the wall in the classroom:
This is the block for month one:
This is month 2:
I fell way behind on my 2023 project when I was in the hospital. I plan to finish that stuff off in between blocks for my new project
Reading happened.
Retaining didn’t. I’m still in the grace period, right?
Today was my biannual check up with my PCP. We had a bunch of pieces to put into place because we’re down to one car, but i got to my appointment a little early. And then my foot caught on the floor (stoopid soles) and I went down hard. Hit both knees, both elbows, both hands. I was more embarrassed than hurt, but they wouldn’t let me go until I was checked out. And then my doctor checked me out again. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
My appointment with my doctor went fine. I told her the hell that life has been lately, she expressed condolences and made sure I’m still taking my meds (I am). She put in a referral for PT, set up some labs and got me my shingles shot. All in all, a good appointment.
Afterward, I had Hubby drop me off at my ex-meta’s house. Not only did she help keep my brain weasels at bay, but I got a chance to talk with my former partner. We’re on good footing, still feeling things out. But it made me feel all around better.
Now I’m just waiting for former meta to be done with work so she can drive me home and I can catch up with Hubby. Not the best day but not the worst either.
Good news! Sorry bout the boo boos🫂
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put away where it stays until it gets dirty again. Sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ were accomplished. It rained this mornin’ and then went away although it has remained pretty cloudy. Sup got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Now 'tis time for some Netflix and chill. Plus warmed up peach cobbler with 'niller ice cream. YUM!
Boo Hope all goes well with the electioneerin’. I admire you and the other Mumpers (Oopsie comes to mind) for doin’ this. I have not the patience for a marathon day at the pollin’ place. Entertain yourself by postin’ as much as you wish. You need to keep up on the developments. After all it’s bin day at BooFae’s place. Can’t miss out on that!
MOOOOOOM flapioca sounds like a fine dessert. Hope the visit with Texas SIL goes well. Maybe she can keep MIL entertained a good bit whilst there.
Taters you know you can always come here to vent and rant to your heart’s content. I hope that helps when you do. Also, I read about all your irk problems and crises and remind myself of how I am ever so thankful to be retired.
Dicey it really isn’t a white bath robe until you dye it inerestin’ colors with foodstuffs. I like my big fluffy white food tie-dyed robe.
Doggio perhaps Spot can do stuff to ensure you are not deficient in chaos for the day.
Realfish glad you weren’t hurt. Good for the doc for checkin’ you over good just to make sure.

I wanted her to join the Girl Scouts, but her dad refused, said it was “too militaristic.”
Yikes! He obviously never had much experience with the girl scouts.

Daughter and SIL are on their way home. CT was normal and apparently the IV meds helped
Glad he could get some relief and checked out as OK.
Irked, came home in a light sprinkle, walked Nelson (the rain stopped, so no suiting him up), napped and et. Now for KP and studio time.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
There was an interesting bit of serendipity today. When I’m working in the office I play my iPod in Shuffle mode all day. After lunch, Running One from the Run Lola Run soundtrack came up. While the song was playing, someone on the Turner Classic Movies Fan Site Facebook page made a post about Run Lola Run. (But I must say that someone mentioning it on TCM makes me feel very old.)

I missed something.
My MIL is obsessed with Costco - rarely a day goes by that she doesn’t mention it, and it’s about to push me over the edge!! I don’t know how many times I’ve told her the closest one is 25 miles away so we don’t go there.
SIL went to work today - whatever they gave him in the IV, it done did the trick. Daughter’s interview is tomorrow morning - I wonder if they’ll tell her anything or if she’ll have to wait. She’s under orders to call us when the interview is done.
TX SIL will fly out around 8 on Firday, but the distance and the timing around rush hour may mean FCD will leave as early as 3 - we shall see. I’d forgotten about her charming habit of finishing your sentences for you - charming, that’s the word.
Just gotta make it to Firday…
Paging Sigmund Freud! Paging Dr. Freud. You left your cigar in the men’s room…again.
Actually, I need either him or you folks to interpret this dream: the lot of you teamed up and sent me a Stradivarius violin. (At first, I thought it was a cello. Then I realized no, I’m just short.) I was blown away by the generosity, even though, and this is important, I don’t play violin or any other instrument. As soon as my fingers hit the keys or strings, they inevitably turn into bratwursts. I knew nobody was that rich and was hoping it was a knock-off. I think I watched too much Antiques Road Show.
Oh, and you also sent me a Dr. Seuss book. Which you’d signed. With your real names. Any Edwins here?
One possibility the ENT mentioned yesterday was interstitial lung disease. I looked it up when I got home but noped out after the first sentence, which contained the words “progressive,” “incurable,” and “can be caused by autoimmune diseases.” I’ve had this for 12 years, and while it HAS gotten worse, that’d be a pretty slow progression. Plus my brother has the same issue, and his lungs are fine. Mom dealt with it for decades.
I forgot to ask yesterday if being a volunteer camp counselor counted. I was a counselor at a camp for kids with muscular dystrophy and at a camp for the developmentally disabled. Very rewarding.
Oh! I also forgot to say that one of the gifts my daughter sent me was a pair of–Prepare to be covetous!–Oscar Mayer Wienermobile socks! Long story, but I’d always wanted to see the Wienermobile, and about 12 years ago, I finally did! I also got a Wiener Whistle, which I did not take to school because, well, blowing on a weiner would’ve started rumors that would’ve got me fired. Anyway, I gave the whistle to my sister because she wanted one so badly, so my daughter got me these socks–yellow, with Wienermobiles all over them.
FCM, that sounds like your poor SIL had a killer migraine. Very scary. My daughter seldo gets them (My son still gets daily migraines.), but she did a couple years ago and was talking gibberish. Her husband thought she was having a stroke and took her to the ER. I’m glad they gave your SIL some relief.

As for adult summer camp, I don’t see arts-and-crafts or whatever else goes on. I’m thinking cabanas, beverages with little umbrellas, and lots of quiet for chillage and nappage.
So strip tetherball is a no-go?
{{{RealFish}}} because grief ebbs and rises and is so exhausting.

I had a relatively uneventful visit to the dental hygienist yesterday,
Those are the very best kind! Congrats on your excellent dental hygiene!
Boo, I salute your civic responsibility.

The new socks should let me tan down to the shoe line.
I always wear no-show socks. Is that what you just got?

That is…extraordinary. At least for this life-long suburban dweller.
The kids sounded like it was no big deal. None of them were ever hurt. This was the school where Betsy DeVos said teachers carried guns–a complete lie, and she’d never been to that school. She spent a few childhood vacations in her family’s palatial summer house quite a ways from there.

60 mile hikes…6 miles would probably do me in…nellie and flyboy could handle it. though.
Sure, I could do it…if flyboy carried me piggyback.
Taters, would it help if I brought mint juleps for your coworkers? I have plenty of mint! (And I’d make yours a double.)
OK, I’m going to end this now. There are new posts coming so fast, I’ll never get this posted.!
Well, I made it to the soccer fields for practice just in time for thunder to boom and lightning flash, so they closed the fields and no practice was held. It’s raining now but fairly quietly, so indoors I will remain. Did manage to get to the gym this afternoon and also managed to change the dressings on the biopsied spots (Doc said to keep them covered) so that counts as an accomplishment in my book. The evening hours will be passed by internettin’ and readin’.
FCM, be strong. They could be discussing Sam’s Club…
Sticky Buns, glad I didn’t talk to you before I had my gall bladder removed! Something sure went southward during that removal. And good luck on the job interview.
shoe, won’t fuss at you about your mother (other mothers here are better at it than I), but only you can determine how much it bugs you. Be well. And you folks have some great regulars.
hippie, best of luck on the new quilt work.
Real Fish, OUCH!! You’ll be sore tomorrow, I bet (having fallen a couple weeks ago).

Actually, I need either him or you folks to interpret this dream: t
My interpretation: Brains iz weird.
Alrighty then, onward into the night. Have a good one all.

Well, I made it to the soccer fields for practice just in time for thunder to boom and lightning flash, so they closed the fields and no practice was held
We got a big thunderboomer here too this evening. It had stopped by the time I took Nelson out.
I’m liking the quilt blocks and the preview of the completed one hippy.

So strip tetherball is a no-go?
As long as you have enough sun screen…

They could be discussing Sam’s Club…
Did you know Sam’s has great ground beef?? Yeah, so I’ve been told… repeatedly…
One nice thing about TX SIL being here - I can go grocery shopping tomorrow without worrying. So I’ll be heading to Food Lion and Aldi pretty much first thing. Daughter wants to come see her aunt, so it looks like she and the kids will be here for supper tomorrow. I’ll figure out what we’ll eat while I’m grocery shopping.
But now, read in bed, then sleep.
I keep hearing good things about Aldi’s, going to go there soon.
Tonight was Dorito salad.
It was 80 out. I don’t have my heater on byt do have on my flannel shirt.
