Afternoon all. Mowage has been completed and will head over to the gym for swimmin’ and sauna here in a bit. No rain yet but it is a bit muggy, so wetness is possible.
FCM, yeah, these are supposedly ‘lifetime’ annuities, but I don’t want to have to find out exactly what that means… Enjoy boating and kid-wrangling
God Bod, looked up Door country, looks like a neat get-away trip. Enjoy that and the Dells.
Niner, yea on the new Swithc (I haven’t a clue what it is, but if you’re happy, then I;m happy.
Not a problem, my front door has windows so I can watch them anytime I want.
OK< need to get the bathing suit on and head on out. Everyone have a good day.
I made bread today. It’s a white bread recipe that’s easy to ring changes or additions into. Today it was sundried tomato basil herb bread. There is tomato, giving it a orange tint, fresh basil, minced garlic and minced onion. It’s even better toasted. As I am on a diet, trying to keep my A1C down I actually added up the calories in the ingredients, and came up with just under 60 calories per ounce. Not too bad. Of course if you toast it and then butter it the penalty goes up, but I can do it. My blood count was way high, and just last Monday it was checked again and is down to 7.2. Still just a little high, but that drop was almost thirty percent.
As a fellow diabetic …
If your A1C is up why are you eating any bread at all? Homemade is better than store bought, whole grain is better than white, but none is better than some. The maximum safe dose for bread (or rice or potatoes) is about 1 small bite per meal. At which point zero is easier to prepare and to stick to.
At least for me; your situation may be different in ways I don’t know about.
Howdy Y’all! I did the candle thang and then we were bears who brunch at Eggs Up Grill. They do have some tasty sustenance there! After that it was home to da cave for nappage. That completed we then day drank. ‘Tis cloudy out and feels like rain is comin’ soon. Hope so. Let it rain all night I say!
wet one, I don’t know if I’ve said it before, but Ursula is a pretty kitteh.
The casa is clean, laundry done, the down payment for Nelson’s dental work made and groceries bought. We went to the dog park for a while this afternoon as well, given that he likely won’t feel much like it next weekend.
A very Happy Birthday to you Taters
A pedicure sounds like a great birthday treat.
Same but additionally I like to chop onions and saute them along with the hash browns.
I think that not only will the classes help FCMIL physically but they’ll also help her mentally and socially, getting to interact with other peeps her age and make some new friends. So, WIN, WIN, WIN.
Please share details of what the bears who brunched et. So, we can share in thoughts of deliciousness.
One afternoon I was coming home from work. I had noticed that there were two girls than had moved into an apartment across the street. One of them struck me as very attractive. The pretty girl was sitting in her car. Blue smoke was pouring out from under it and she was crying. I reached in and shut the car off and asked her what had happened. She said that she had wanted to maintain her car by herself. She called her dad about how much oil was needed for an oil change. He told her “Four quarts, five quarts with a filter.” She did not know where the filter was so she just put five quarts of oil in, without draining the old oil. It had only been running for a couple of minutes when I pulled up.
I told her not to worry. I got some tools out of my garage and drained the oil. We went and got now oil and a filter. Back home it didn’t take very long to get the job finished. I asked her if she would like to get something to eat. I took her to Taco John’s.
This was our first date on May 19th, 1972. We married three years later and we have been happily together ever since. Fifty one years and counting.
My weekly Tai-chi classes come with my own personal nagger, plus I’ve convinced NF to go as well. Being expected to attend weekly classes forces me to actually put my stitching aside and move my body around.
It is really storming out here again. So very strange for this time of the year, but we will take it and ask for more!
We had enough thunder that GG woke up offended that someone was shaking his house, LOL! COC is under the bed and VBC brought me a sock monkey AND a stuffed javalina to comfort me during the height of the booming. She usually only brings me one and then demands her due praise and pettings, but this time she just dropped monkey off and trotted right back out to find piggy as well.
I went out this morning with the full intention of taking a pic of the berries on our new tree, then picking them because it’s just a babby and is probably too young to be producing fruit already…but it is covered with berries today so I think I’m not going to bother because I don’t think I can keep up with it.
Our almost year old pomegranate is leafing out nicely but no sign of flowers yet. They usually don’t start flowering this early, they are a fall crop, but one can hope. I don’t really care about the fruit as much as I do the flowers. Seeing as how I will get fruit if I feed for flowers, it’s good to know a couple of people who happily take all of my fruit off my hands. (I don’t really care for eating pomegranates, I’m super lazy and they are a whole bunch of work.)
What a sweet story, thank you so much for sharing.
Hippy Birfhday, taters! Hope you’re having a good one.
Dinner eaten (branzino and asparagus if anyone is interested), now onto the rest of the evening. I’m now finished with my second sheaf? of asparagus for the season, and so far, it hasn’t had the usual…after effects. Have they created asparagus that doesn’t give one the stinky pee?
Cat Glove said something about onions a few posts back – blame her.
Supper has been eaten (chicken with roasted carrots, green beans and sweet NOT). Angel is asleep and hasn’t come hinting that it’s past time for her evening glop, so I’m going back to my book.
Went out to check on Fluff, and saw a fourth black kitten, so that makes six.
The blue isn’t quite as bad as I was afraid it would be. But I think I’ve decided never to do this myself again.
Aside from the dye job, Hubby and I went to pick up BtY from school then do some shopping. Hubby made meatball subs for dinner, and I’ve been getting my porch time in while reading V for Vendetta and listening to music.
I think you worry too much. Let your hair settle and look again in the morning. Personally I think it brings out your eyes and just needs to dry a little more.
Well, for me it’s not so much what I eat but the calories consumed. I limit myself to 1500 calories a day. That sort of limits the amount of what I eat. I go for no processed sweets, artificial sweeteners in tea, not sugar, and so on. I love cheese but it tends to be high in calories so I can only have small amounts. On salad, in place of dressing I use salsa. I like making vegetable soup, and I would love pot pie but the crust, with the fat in it, is a problem. Three ounces of the bread I make is only 180 calories and I can do that. Since I started limiting myself in this way I’ve lost seven pounds, so for now I’ll keep with this regimen.
I don’t know if everybody was at the game last night, or there’s a virus(flu? 'rona? Jose Cuervo?), but we were shorthanded. I was on the 100 Sort. I was on the 200 Sort. I was on the 100 slide. I ended up finishing the 200 Slide, since the guy who’s been there 10 yearslonger than me doesn’t know how to do certain things. After work I stopped, picked up rainbow trout, gin, and cat food.
I’m 52, and I just cut& paste “Thank you. Now get off my lawn.”
