(Old) The Joy of Brain Farts in the MMP

Well, so much for portion control.

When I make salmon, I make one fillet for me, and one for the Spousal Unit. We usually have asparagus with it. But the Spousal Unit isn’t here. So I ate two salmon filets – but no veg. I mixed 1½ tablespoons of salted butter with some Trader Joe’s pesto, spread it on the salmon filets, and baked in a 400ºF oven for 23 minutes. Yum. Goo got some too.

Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday Taters!

Happy First Date Anniversary Hippie!

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes!

Beautiful cat WetOne
I wanted a black cat but Adam chose me.
I was sitting in the cat room checking out the cats. Adam trotted over to me and if any other cat came near me, he flattened them.
He’s a good cat, even if he does get on my nerves sometimes.

Sleeping on an air mattress is nice, once you get used to the movement. I slept better than I had been because nothing hurt.
Getting up from an air mattress is a whole other story.
Maybe it needed more air.

No park today. My son got off irk at 430 and he was sore from irk. I was very tired. As soon as we got home, he did a few things and went to bed, he didn’t even eat. I fell asleep sitting in the chair and then went up to bed. The air mattress looked so inviting, but I didn’t want to deal with getting out of it again.
I slept until almost 10, then took a hot bath.

They move my son around to different departments and he hates it. The bosses like to because ‘he listens to and follows instructions’. You wouldn’t think he would be unique that way, but it appears that he is.
He and Doggio could compare notes.

I’m tired, past my bedtime
I’ll catch up tomorrow

Evening all. They got the heater for the pool working at the gym, so I got some swimming in before whirlpool and sauna so I am exercised. Had planned to have a Big Bowl of Sallit for dinner, but my carnivore side took over and after mailing my AAA membership renewal I stopped at Jack’s for a double Cheeseburger and their crinkle-cut fries. So tomorrow or Sunday I will have to do penance for that.

Last weekend of Spring soccer is tomorrow, but there is an 80% chance of Tunder-Boomers so it might not get played. We’ll have to see what the Weather Wizards have in store for us. There is a tournament in Knoxville 9-11 June that I might go up and referee at, we’ll have to see when the time comes. Might add some side trips to it for my ‘summer’ vacation.

Cupcakes, I thought 2000 calories was the average (it’s what I try to hit), is 1500 enough? Good on losing weight, I’m doing the same but want you in good health too.

What, raided a Society for Creative Anachronisms stockpile?

Real Fish, if the rain holds off, I’m going to let my soccer team dye my beard; trust me, your hair looks much better than my beard will.

hippie, that’s a beautiful story with a happy ending that’s been going for over 50 years. Thanks for sharing.

OK, it’s 9pm and my first game refereeing tomorrow is due to start at 8:15am, so best be thinking about bedtime. All y’all take care.

Just pop those in the blender for a delicious nutritious smoothie!

Well, I feel good so I’m hoping things are okay. If I get to feeling weak I might up it a little. But when I got the notice on my A1C the message also had a list of all the other blood factors and each one was in normal range. Hopefully that’s good.

Exercise, even mild exercise plus calorie control, even mild calorie control → weight loss.

Which does little for A1C. Fixing A1C is mostly about stopping eating simple carbs. With the exception of milk if it’s white, don’t eat it. Or not more than a bite of it.

Both of these are long-term projects where small changes in input take time to manifest in outputs. But manifest they will.

Wifey, RN called just now. She’s having a good seminar, though she thinks some of the other vets complain too much. She said, ‘Even the White people feel they were discriminated against.’ I was like, ‘Oh, the officers discriminated against me because I’m enlisted!’ Didn’t really feel it, but it made her laugh. She had a wedge salad and some clam chowder for dinner, and she’s stuffed. She should be home around 19:00 Sunday. I had her on speaker, so that the cats could hear her. They didn’t seem interested. Anyway, she’s having dinner with an old friend tomorrow.

So how’s the potting table coming?

Can you maybe go to the local thrift store and find a bed frame? It might not be the mattress, it might just be your knees so the extra couple of inches of height could help.

Also…if you like the way an air mattress feels, perhaps think about a soft sided waterbed. Waterbeds are not nearly as problematic as they were in the 70’s and they come with baffles so you can choose how much motion you want. Ours has individual heaters so if I want my side warm, he can sleep on cold water for all it matters to me. Except for when he wakes up cold and presses his cold skin against my warm body at 3 am, then it’s pillow time.

That made me laugh, cats are so catish!!!

Mayyyyybe. Chrome chainmail and assless chaps rock the biker world. Especially if one happens to be a floozy.

I used to model for this guy at the Renn Faire in So. Cal. I floozied with him once and only once because chainmail pinches during that sort of activity.

I married hubs during the three years I modeled for him and he dressed hubs every time he could because women loved hunky men in chain and black leather too.

There are pics out by the rings, I’ll look for something semi-family friendly to scan and share.

Let me repost what I put in the DIY therad.

What a Very GOOD Cat. * skritches *

So Many Birthdays and Anniversaries! Happy Anniversary to Hippie, and Sunflower, and Happy Birthday to Taters!

Over the face?! :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I mean, harsh but fair.

Assless is the definition of chaps. Says the woman what rides horses.

Now the owner of the GSD wants us to give him money. The dog that tried to murderize my dog and the very same dog that I returned immediately. It’s been several days, but now he wants to know if I will give him money. Nope. Not happy.

Today it’s been hot, and I rejoice in the invention of air conditioning.

Yeah, I’ll bet you wear jeans under yours! Pro tip for any floozies out there…do not ever buy a chainmail thong to wear under black leather chaps. And if you are stoopid enough to do that, do not ride a Harley. 'nuf said, OK?

VBC doesn’t bring me little toys, she manages to drag big stuff around. Before we got GG, she would drag all of our rugs around which was super impressive.

Imgur

Here she is with piggy and monkey.

She looks like Goo.

What lovely eyes she has.

Is she the one who convinced you and wife that she had managed to escape from the catio? That was something that VBC did at our last place. Rotten cats.

Tonka was too old to escape from the catio. H liked roaming the neighbourhood, but he got used to it. Creamsickle is the one who used to climb up on the roof. That was before the catio, though. Thankfully, Goo and Abbey aren’t climbers, except for the cat tree.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

“Why was I not informed of the existence of ginfish smoothies?” - Spot

Spot does the same single eye squint. I think he’s the living embodiment of all of Clint East wood’s movie characters: “With all do respect sir, you’re beginning to bore the hell out of me” -Gunnery Sgt. Highway

Awake too early so it’s tablet time! I’ll leave at 8 to pick up MIL and BIL because for some reason they want to come. He can help, she’ll be in the way… oh well.

There’s a start-of-the-season party at our marina this afternoon and we’re hoping to go. That will be our day. Theoretically. Who knows what else might happen?

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and partly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage. First, however, I must get gas for the mowers (push and rider) and twuck. Sloth and general overall uselessness shall rule the day after all that. Since I do all the mowin’, OYKW shall prepare a sup or steak, baked N.O.T., sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. YUM! So it shall be at da cave this fine Sattidy.

Happy Anniversary Hippie and Sunflower!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s 15c/60f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly sunny today. Weather app says “If this weather was a pro wrestler, its wrestling name would be Norman and it’s signature move would be called fucking Cheerios breath.” Make of that what you will!

Happy anniversary, Hippy and Sunflower, that was a lovely story

Herald I work in the school office for the History and Cultures dept at a university. We were having a quiet day, the office was very warm and work was pretty quiet for a Friday afternoon. One of the team is doing a project on dyslexia support for staff so she was looking at Linked In Learning stuff to see if there was anything useful for her, and the other one wanted to take a late lunch break to go to the campus barbers - his haircut took all of 20 minutes and that included walking there and back! In fairness, the hair salon is located in a building just across the green from ours so it takes a couple of minutes to walk over there.

Now that Rental Cat has been returned home, I cleaned the litter tray she’d had in her base camp and put it back in its usual place. Shadow has been hesitant about coming upstairs since Luna ran at him, so I brought him up with me and put him on the landing so he could see it was safe. He nosed around, came and sniffed the litter tray, got in and scrabbled about, got out and wandered off. He came back a couple of minutes later and staked his claim to it with a massive stinky poo.

Busy day today, I changed the bedding yesterday evening before we went out but didn’t have time to get it washed. Laundry’s in the machine now doing its thing. I have some dye on my hair so that needs washing out in about 20 minutes time. We have to go into town early today so we have time for lunch at the good Chinese place before 'im indoors goes to the barber for his appointment. Then errands in town, back to collect the car from the supermarket car park (we get 3hrs free parking, it’s worth the walk) and then we need to go to the pet store for cat litter, the hardware place for large plastic storage boxes, and out to a local music venue to get some gig tickets. I had a refund on some cancelled gigs that I took as vouchers for the venue which means I have to go to the box office in order to redeem them. Found a gig we want to go to, so that will use up the last of the vouchers.

Back home for a couple of hours chilling out (hopefully) unless I get enthusiastic and run the roll-suck around. Then he’s making steak and chips for dinner, and we’re off out to see a couple of bands in our local rock pub. This time I am not aiming to be out until 3am. Really, I’m not.

It’s 7AM as I type this. FCD has just left to get his tools from the boat. I’ll leave in an hour to pick up MIL and BIL. FCD will pick up SIL, then go get the UHaul. We’ll empty the apartment into the rental truck and our pickup. I’ll take stuff to Daughter, and the rest will come here for storage or our use. Then we’ll take SIL home so he can go to work, drop off MIL and BIL, then I’ll meet FCD at the UHaul place so he can turn in the truck before we go to the open house at the marina.

Whew - I’m exhausted already!

It’s overcast and cool, but Alexa assures me no rain is expected till late this afternoon. Hope she’s not lying - we’ve got 2 mattresses and 2 foundations to move into our back bedroom. Not to mention a room-size area rug. There will also be 2 boxes of miscellany destined for a thrift store.

I’ve decided that we’ll clean the apartment on Moanday, since I’ll be wrangling the kids tomorrow. And I need to decide what we’ll be eating for supper tomorrow since I’ve invited them to join us. I’ll explore the freezer tonight. Maybe there’s a pot roast in there?

That’s for consideration later. Now I just need to make sure I’m ready to fetch and haul FCD’s family members. Whew!
