We may get 2-6 inches. Many times they are off.
Hiya, folks! I got up feeling pretty good today. Now that I finally got an appointment with the ENT, I might be well by then.
Stainless, I tried ellipticals a while back, before I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The machine’s goal seemed to be, “Let him get his guard down, then spit him off! HAA-ha!”
Mrs. Nott made beans & cornbread last night. It’s that kinda weather.
I gotta go eat breakfast.
The two black cats that are here in the bedroom with me both have black whiskers. I think the other two do, too; I’ll have to check. The black-and-white, however, has white whiskers that stand out quite boldly against his black spots.
Only bread? In my experience it’s always bread, milks and eggs – French toast emergency preparation.
The submarine piers and associated car parks at NOB Norfolk are right under the flight path for planes landing at the NAS. Every big plane that comes in on its final approach sets off dozens of alarms.
Ellipticals are my favourite exercise machine.
Happy birthday, BBBoo!
Off to work in the dark.
« Should I get there early, or should I stop at Tim’s for a bit to eat and a coffee and get in late? »
Decisions, decisions. The apple fritter was calling…
I have been remiss
< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY DEEEAAARRR BBBBBBBBBOOOOOO!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
Definitely! (Before they closed all their Connecticut stores fourteen years ago , I went to Timmy’s for coffee and Dunkin’ for doughnuts.)
Coffee drained, fritter frittered, hints that I do in fact live on a sunlit planet starting to appear.
Off to the office. Excalibur!
NEVER say no to an apple fritter! Are you mad???
Back from Food Lion - I opted out of Aldi because it’s too far for “wonder if there’s anything I need?” When they get the Aldi in Charlotte Hall built, it’ll be near the Food Lion there, so I’ll be able to do 2 in 1 trip. But as far as I know, they haven’t even poured the foundation yet.
Speaking of foundations, when we used to drive thru Leonardtown back in the late 90s (we lived in King George, VA and kept our boat in Solomons) we would stop at Perkins in Leonardtown. After we moved away, then came back 20 years ago, Perkins was gone, and the restaurant went thru six different owners/iterations, including Japanese Bento, Vietnamese, pizza, BBQ, generic American grille, and seafood. It’s now a pile of rubble, destined to becoome a fancy-pants carwash this summer. It was strange driving past and not having the building blocking my view. Of course, the car wash will be bigger than the restaurant, blocking more, but it’s not like I need to see the orthodontist office from Rt 5 anyway.
School opening was delayed 2 hours which means I didn’t get slowed by either school zone I pass. Of course, that didn’t account for the pokey-joe doing 40 along the 50MPH stretch of no-passing. Good thing I wasn’t in a hurry or anything. I don’t get it - the road is bone-dry and the sun is shining - no excuse for not doing the speed limit. I dunno.
Guess it’s time to gather the dirties and start the washer.
It’s Boo’s burpday? Well, then happy birthday, young miss, and may you enjoy many more!
In some parts of Dallas, that would get you shot.
Thanks! Sitting here with a cup of coffee, in my favorite mug sent to me by a Doper friend, with a mellow and smug cat on my lap, hanging out with the bestest circle of friends (this means YOU) ever.
Eventually I’ll have to put on pants and go do a couple plebeian errands then come back home to the couch and cat, no celebration plans. Me, cat ,
couch, excessive hours reading
, Mumperville.
Oh, my goodness, while you’re out & about, maybe buy yourself a cupcake or something?
What a good idea! , I know just the place.
Of course I would rather have brunch with swampie, midafternoon cookies gazing at Jolene and GG with jane, closing out the day with you, custom and pierogis and Monkey, but a cupcake from Butterfly Bakery is a good start.
All the rest of that perfect day will have to be virtual. Carry on.
Wonderful! Poetry?
Happy Birthday, BBboo!!! Enjoy your relaxation with the kittelagh. That sounds absolutely delightful. I hope your day is exactly what you want it to be.
Today is yet another snow day. Overlyboy doesn’t go back to school until end of next weekend, but overlygirl is on virtual learning today. It’s a nice, powdery snow, so hopefully they’ll go out and play at some point. I will never NOT be happy that they still seem to get a thrill out of fresh snow.
I’m pretty good with a snow day today, even though this week has been one long snow day. Overlyboy is in a garage band of sorts and was practicing across town and didn’t make it back until midnight, then I was waking up every hour thinking that the school would call off, so I’m beat. You know how you just sleep super lightly when you’re expecting to be woken? 'Twas one of those nights.
Today is the husband unit’s birthday as well - it’s a milestone, but he wanted to keep it low key, so we’ll be eating a meal of cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and cake. Hopefully overlygirl’s conditioning will be postponed today. I can’t imagine why they’d schedule weightlifting when we knew we were going to get snow AND they have a tournament tomorrow starting at 7 a.m., but what do I know? We shall see what happens. They should just tell the girls to go out and shovel for their workout.
Good morning!
It’s 46F and raining. The rain is projected to stop late in the morning, and we’ll be left with cloudy to partly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 50F. Not a freakin’ snowflake in sight.
Happy Birthday, BBBoo! I hope you can make the most of your special day.
Lily, how cool to see your poem!
The power went out frequently in my first house, and we seemed to suffer from more windstorms and winter weather events during the early 90s. I had a woodstove that I often cooked on. I didn’t cook anything fancy, just stuff like soup and stews. We were once without power for nearly two weeks. My daughter was just barely over a year or two old. But we were warm, and I could cook. I could heat water for bathing, too.
I did not watch any of the services for Jimmy Carter, but I did binge-watch an entire series on Netflix. Other than washing the dishes, and sweeping the kitchen floor several times (because of the dogs), I didn’t do anything productive.
Consequently, I will probably have to “people” today and go to Costco. I need TP, and while I’m there, I’m sure I’ll find other stuff I “need”. I tend to wander the aisles to see what’s new.
shoe, I’m sorry to read about your owie, but glad S.M was there to assist. I hope the wound remains pain free.
Metal Mouse, I have cut way down on any soda consumption. It’s been like that for quite some time. I often go multiple days without drinking a diet Coke (sorry, Pepsi is flat and syrupy). I drink mainly water and use a metal insulated water bottle. I put some ice on the bottom and refilled the bottle several times during the day. The water stays nice and cold all day; most days, the ice is still there the next morning. I find that too much soda also causes me some acid reflux. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes an ice-cold diet Coke is just the thing. I have noted that my skin looks and feels better, too.
Nellie, I had a present shipped to my daughter via Macy’s and USPS. I ordered the present last weekend, but it’s stuck somewhere due to weather delays. It left from Oklahoma, and it’s been nearly a week. The delivery address is Missouri.
I should get my day truly started. I need to shower, and I think I’ll do the hair mask thing today, too. It needs to sit on my hair for a bit before I can rinse it out, and since I’m not on the clock, today is the perfect time to do it.
My best to all.
Ah, productivity!
- Put the groceries away.
- Hauled the laundry downstairs, sorted it, and started the frist load.
- Emptied the dishwasher (still have to put the next round of dirties in it.)
- Stripped and remade our bed.
- Put out fresh towels in our bathroom.
Alexa just told me to check the laundry, so back downstairs I go. Then some chillage, I think.
ETA - first load in the dryer, second in the washer, cat box scooped and landing vacuumed to get up cat little bits.
Good morning all. Woke up to about 1-2" of snow on the ground, so of course I got dressed and drove to the Kroger because that much snow doesn’t bother a guy who learned to drive in Northern Ohio. Store was open but understaffed and no bread or bananas were available, but I made do and made it home without problems (it helped that it’s a ‘wet’ snow so not too icy, almost no one else in N. Ali-bama was out and I never got above 23mph the whole way). Still, I think I’ll be staying inside for the rest of the day (it’s still snowing hard and they are predicting another 4" to add to the current collection). Have had my Big Bowl of Corn Flakes so that should hold me awhile. Soccer has already been cancelled for tomorrow, so will have to improvise my Saturday routine. Power is still on so hopefully that will continue.
VanGO, great news on the museum gig.
JtC, the motorcycle/suits and the driveway stories made me laugh out loud in my empty house…thank you for sharing that. You know how to set up and deliver a punch-line, lady!
Strangely, I am sleeping well at night (outside of occasional fluid removal requirements), but I have noticed that I am not napping as often as i used to.
shoe, Ouch! Have tried stapling myself now and then, none to recently and it always amazes me how it looks. And not a word to Mom-unit. But keep an eye on it and clean it good so it doesn’t get infected (Mom-type advice–and I see later on you figured that out yourself–clever girl).
boo fae, thanks for the advice, I’ll try it next time I’m at the gym (probably not today). Looks like this: https://www.google.com/imgres?q=phaze%203%20elliptical&imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Flookaside.instagram.com%2Fseo%2Fgoogle_widget%2Fcrawler%2F%3Fmedia_id%3D3533315963947204956&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fphaze3fitnessjonesvalley%2Fp%2FDBT2QWtP1oZ%2F&docid=-2GUiZ9hZBuVkM&tbnid=6nwd45jz9iCYTM&vet=12ahUKEwiF98n8xeuKAxVav4kEHWv5KeEQM3oECBgQAA..i&w=1440&h=1440&hcb=2&ved=2ahUKEwiF98n8xeuKAxVav4kEHWv5KeEQM3oECBgQAA and the name push-me/pull you is an excellent description. And eight cars! What, he like hoarding cars?
Knotty, that’s how I felt, just couldn’t get into the rhythm.
BBBoo, A most Happy Hippo-Birdie today!!
FCM, you mentioning the restaurant property becoming a car wash; they have been building car washes like crazy around here, probably 5-6 new ones in a 5 mile radius of me in the last 2-3 years. No idea how all of them will stay in business, just wondering if you’ve seen a similar proliferation in your neck of the continent.
Talkie, happy B-Day to Huisband-unit.
Just peeked through the window blinds and it is still snowing. I am tempted to shovel my driveway just for the exercise, but they are saying it will warm up later this afternoon so I think I’ll go the RDOS route. Take care all.
I remember the days when men named Bruce were desperately trying to change their names. I know three Karens, all of whom are nice people.
Made it to exercise three times this week, which is excellent. Snow flurries again today. Last evening was not a good time for going home traffic. I-94E was down to a crawl because of accidents and the ramp near us was at a dead stop. And it was only an inch of snow!
One of the fucking elevators is down again. They either need a new contractor, or they need to replace this goddamn thing. The only thing stopping a complete mutiny is that the building is only at 60% occupancy. But if even one of those motorized behemoth wheelchairs is in the remaining elevator, nobody else is getting on. If it wasn’t for the location of this building, I’d be looking elsewhere to live.
that is my type of birthday. it sounds lovely. many happy and healthy returns of the day!
is ice cream a possibility with the cupcake?
purplehorseshoe, i once stapled my thumb. back in the days of yore, putting up a new bulletin board backround in school. i was holding the paper with one hand and whacking the flat stapler with the other. got my thumb. went through the nail but not the thumb. it was interesting watching the nail grow out with a wee hole in it.
i had only one very tiny not even a drop of blood. i believe the pressure of the nail keeps things in.
All this talk about pierogies has me hungry. I’m going to have 2 for lunch; one cheese & onion and one kraut & mushroom.
The right way is to fry in butter. I’m also going to saute some onion to go with…and maybe some garlic.
