(Old) Up late in the MMP

That was insane even for us. There was extra volume in the building today, because not everything got delivered Saturday and Monday due to safety reasons(Dude I hope you enjoy the slush sled you got today), some drivers didn’t make it it, so those routes didn’t go out plus everything that came in, . So Dispatch did a lot of add/cuts. My one car had over 100 cuts. Which was fun, because 1. Most of the Sumitomo stop was cut but not all , so 1. I had to check every package. 2. The loading style of the beings that loaded my set on Saturday/Monday could be best described as “An attempt was made”. 3. The Rear Door Left(the Sumitomo stop) was all over the palce, and stuff was mixed in everywhere. And while I’m looking at labels, the cages were filling up. Plus they kept havin o stop the recycle belt because Primary Sort was overwhelmed. So I had the choice of 1. Trying to load load even more stuff around the cut stuff. 2. Stacking the cut stops on the Belt, so I couldn’t reach my cages. I was briefly considering quitting and becoming a stripper, when I got sent over to the Mez. Because the Clerk who works the Mez didn’t come in, and it took 2 hours for TPTB to realize. Bonus on that was there was a bunch of stuff that should have gone to Garner(Building Code 2768) mixed in with our stuff(building code 2769), so we had to deal with that. Plus the 300 Boxline didn’t pull their add/cuts till after they shut down all the belts. So the drivers left after 10, there’s even more left behind stuff, The Supreme Screaming Officer was screaming over the radio, and we’re starting at 0230 tomorrow.
I filled the vermin feeder when I came home, because Onan had pushed it over, popped the top off, and hoovered 3/4 of the seed.

I run the dishwasher about once a week, basically when I run out of plates.

The Doc said there was a mi-newt chance I won’t.

So FCD is gonna drive you and Otis into therapy with his stubbornness?

Howdy all, just a quick check-in, have done nothing of use for several hours, but rain is due in the next hour or so, so I’ll get my gym stuff together and try to beat it to the building.

doggio, I never doubted that you would get the reference. And sounds like it’s a 'whatever my favorite drink is I’m having two" day at work.

FCM, 7.3" or 7.4" will do just fine.

Cookie, I’ll have my 73rd birthday in April, I plan to live in my house another 2-3 years and then look for an apartment much like yours.

Taters, hope the Doc has a cancellation so you can get in earlier.

And time to head out into the great open spaces (for about 2.6 miles). Take care all,

I actually had to subtract a quarter of an inch to allow for the crown on deck. And there was some cussing and fussing, as well as wishing I’d not gotten rid of my engineering calculator, but with a little trig and my phone calculator app, I figured out what I needed. And just in case I goofed up something, I’ll use an old sheet to make a practice cover to check for fit before I cut into the $$$ Sunbrella (the last of the last order I’d placed.) I’ve got all of the patterns worked out and now I’m taking a well-deserved break!

Yep. Take a long, hot steamy shower (not a quick "wipe and done” one) and it dissolves quickly into the mist.

Here’s the one I got.

That looks fun.

It seems an odd suggestion for a Valentine’s gift, it’s a bit.. ‘Darling, stop :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: sniffing’, but useful.

Had a really washed out day today; for some reason I Could. Not. Sleep last night. My brain just wouldn’t turn off. I think I finally drifted off about 5am.

I was planning on WFH, but while the FH bit took place, the W was a bit limited. I was supposed to be trouble-shooting a statistical analysis I don’t really understand, and the 1/4 brain I had available was not a match for that. I gave up and popped out to do some errands, because I was running out of assorted stuff. I’ll be back in office tomorrow.

Slight variation in the weather today- we had a dash of sleet instead of the normal steady rain. The forecast in a week is for drizzle, which is an exciting change.

@purplehorseshoe

Thanks! I ordered some of those steamers.

Not raining. Trying feeding on demand today, because I’d like the kitties to stop waking us at 3 a.m., mew, mew, mew.

My lovely wife is away for a few days, so I’ll do some cleaning if I can tear myself away from the wee weasely beasts. The lure of bagels and schmear with delicious gluten and dairy may drag me downtown tomorrow or Thursday.

I finished draft 2 and have begun draft 3. Today, though, I’m giving a friend comments on her novel draft. She, in fact, gave up on mine after a few chapters. Trying not to hold it against her.

SWMBO wanted pork chops for dinner, so I had to go to the supermarket for generic Shake ‘n’ Bake (because I don’t feel like experimenting) and a couple of Yukon Gold potatoes.

I had decided to make meatloaf this week, but when I got the ground pork out to defrost I found that it was bulk sausage. The supermarket didn’t have any ground pork.

We’re low on coffee filters. I was going to get some from Trader Joe’s on the way home from church on Sunday, but SWMBO decided at the gas station at the freeway entrance that she didn’t want to drive in the rain. I stopped by the ‘dollar’ store near the supermarket today, but I didn’t know where the coffee filters were, there was only one staff person visible, and she had a line.

We had a mouse in the house last night! :astonished: We don’t want our cats eating rodents, since the single-wide next door has rodent poison boxes all around it. Goo saved me from a mouse, and then I saved the mouse from Goo. It was still lively, but Goo kept it contained until I could put on a leather glove. (There are gloves by the fireplace.) So there I am, wearing a paid of boxer-briefs and a leather glove. What now? I couldn’t just crush the poor little thing. I couldn’t put it into a jar to let it suffocate. I could put on some shoes and take it outside, but what if people were awake? Who wants to see a near-naked fat guy? I was able to put on some pyjama bottoms and a T-shirt one-handed, and slipped my feet into some Skechers. I took the mouse across the street and then down the street a little bit, and yeeted it into some bushes. I bought snap traps today, from the hardware store near the supermarket.

I forgot to get some veg to go with the pork chops tonight, so dinner will just be the chops, mashed potatoes, and gravy.

Oh, yeah. When I went to go to the supermarket, the Prius wouldn’t power up. I got the typical ‘beep-beep’ when the doors unlocked, then a third beep that I assumed was me doing something. When I tried to power up I got the seatbelt-not-latched warning, and then… nothing. The display was dim. Eventually there was no display except for a check engine light. It ran fine the last time I drove it (last Wednesday, I think it was). I’m guessing the 12v battery died. I’ll put a charger on it in a little bit.

I found a mouse hole in the wall. I’ve set a snap trap.

I hope you enjoy them! They are highly fragrant, but in what I’ve found is a very nice way.

SAME!

Especially irksome me to me is the squirt of condiments ina separate container from the thing being dipped sitting on plate.

No DW here.

The 2005 Prius’s auxiliary 12-volt battery is in the rearmost right corner. I’ve only had to access is once before, in the previous Prius. It’s a pain to get to. This time, there was an added twist. The only unlocked door was the driver’s door. The other three doors have manual locks. The hatch… Nope. At least not one that I know of. So I had to fold the back seat down, and then crawl in on my arthritic knees; then wrench the cover off (I’m sure there’s a right way of doing it), then hook up the charger. There’s a big plastic block over the positive post. No idea how to get it off, so I didn’t know if I could get to the post. I finally did though. As soon as I plugged the charger in with the switch to ‘start a dead car’ or whatever, the car started beeping and the display lit up. Iwas able to unlock the hatch then. I turned the charger down to ‘maintenance-free’ (the middle position). I should swap the Jeep and the Prius, so that I’ll drive the Prius more.

Yukon Golds have been peeled and cubed, and are sitting in a pot of water. I’ll rinse them later.

I got the kitchen and bathroom mopped today. This weekend, I’ll mop the studio. Since I don’t spend much time in the bedroom, it can wait. I also made a batch of whole wheat - raisin muffins. Supper was some of the pintos from the other day and a corn muffin from the freezer. The pintos were even better than they were originally.

Evening all. Made it to the gym before the rains came, but left there in the rain and it is still coming down as I type this. It’s also bringing in some colder weather according to the Wizards, but we’ll see. Have BLT’ed my way into the evening, so at least stomach is happy. Do not plan to move from in front of the computer for the balance of the night (might go check the mailbox and do a little filing).

Flyboy, haven’t had any mouse problems for a couple of years, I have several ‘no-kill’ traps available so I don’t have to worry about handling the wee beasties. Hope the Prius power returns.

And guess I’ll see if the rain has abated enough to go check the mail.

Weird. When it was 15 for a high, the heat would come on, be on a whole, then off for ten minutes.
It was 30 today and it comes on, runs 3 min, stops, then comes back on 3 min later.
I hope thats normal as I worry about stuff like that.

Well shit, I was positive it was Wednesday today. This week has already been long.

I am so sorry and hope you have better news today.

I’m seeing what the difference is. I don’t hand-wash anything, I can’t run the water as hot as the dishwasher so I think the DW does a better, cleaner job.

We also avoid using paper towels and use saucers and bowls for snacking. The fuzzbutts get clean bowls for every meal. We have some paper towels that we use for cleaning icky things that I don’t want in our washing machine, but we use tea towels or rags for most cleaning.

So yeah, I can see what the differences are. Everyone does it right for their household and that’s all that really matters.

Its supposed to be snowing here but so far nothing is happening.

I am spoiled and lazy. I will never live without a dishwasher again!

How much of that do you think was weather related?

Sleet is exciting, its almost snow and I love snow.

They will get lonesome all by themselves, perhaps you should get your bagels to go.

I know I shouldn’t have laughed…

You are a very good and kind person. I hope the mouse doesn’t come back.

Dang about the car, I’m glad you got it home.

Oh yeah, that’s another reason our dishwasher fills up so fast. I use separate bowls for the salad and hot vegetables while the main is on a plate.

I make a lot of dirty dishes every day.

Good job, that sounded like a major job considering your general condition now.

At least you didn’t wake up thinking it was Friday. That was always the worse for me.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and then I went into high RDOS sloth mode until time to fix sup. That sums up my day. I feel like I could go to bed right now but need to wait a little while. OYKW is already abed. He can sleep ten to twelve hours with no problem except for bathroom breaks. Even then I swear he falls back to sleep as soon as his haid hits the pillow.

MOOOOOOM glad the path worked out. I probably use the same tablets to deick our dishwasher.

MetalMouse the rain you’ve had today will visit me tomorrow.

Notty glad to know you are on the mend. Hope the missus is soonest.

Taters I had to break OYKW of the habit of always gettin’ a clean bowl, glass etc. He now understands the concept of reuse or wash and reuse. I have a friend who will get a clean glass each time he wants something to drink. I mean even for a refill. He was visitin’ once and I woke up early one mornin’ to a sink full of dirty glasses. I was so mad I woke him up and made him hand wash and dry every glass and put them away. He never did that again.

It was a bit comical. Even at midnight, having been awakened by a ruckus.

And of course, ‘pair’; not ‘paid’.

I may be kind (yes, I take spiders outside), but I did buy snap traps. I hope it doesn’t come back, too.
