(Old) Up late in the MMP

I read it as plaid which made it even funnier

They were my black Joe Boxer ones, with ‘MR LICKY’ on the waistband. (I alternate between Joe Boxer and Hanes.)

Up from naptime, watching hockey, and having a Manhattan. Dinner tonight is chicken, asparagus, mushrooms and rice with creaming mushroom sauce.

I once wrote a romance novel scene, using only hockey terms:
“Shannon stood nervously, protecting her crease, as Viktor glided across the room, his rigid stick held high. He deked, undressed her, and hit her in her 5 hole” - Penalties of Passion

Isn’t that the wurst?

There is that, but the management response was akin to “A rattlesnake bit my foot, so I’ll amputate my own head.”

Is it Wurst if it isn’t in an intestine? Anyway, I made eight 2-ounce patties, and had one for breakfast. It was good, but fattier than Jimmy Dean’s. One fold-top bag is in the fridge, and the other is in the freezer.

That gives a “Merry Christmas! Shiter’s full!” vibe

I’ve spent half the day thinking it was Sunday. My sense of time seems to be completely scrambled.

At least Kasya seems to have a good grip on the orange brain cell today. She’s figuring out pushing doors open to reach a human on the other side.

Cute babies!

Maintenance guy said its short cycling and someone will come out to fix it tomorrow.

They are already turning into cats.

Yes, they are.

10pm and time for the late night final. Rain has moved on for the time being and temperature is still a moderate 48F, so not too bad, but tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 41F so it’ll be dropping all night.

Did check the mail, a couple more tax forms arrived and the rest was from groups wanting me to send them money. One of them sent me $1.00, probably to guilt me into contributing…however, my guilt meter for people sending unsolicited money to me is rather low, so maybe come June and my usual donation time…another group sent me $0.20 cents in nickles, so I guess I’m ahead of the curve right now…

And lets see the evening reportage…

Coppertone, HVAC systems be nearly as weird as cats…but I see that maintenance will be out to check it, so hope it’s nothing serious.

VanGo, need to check my calendar almost every morning to be sure what day it is, especially the Tues-Thur fime frame..

lily, lovely kitties.

And time to retire. Catch y’all on Hump Day.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

And cute ones.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/36f with a predicted high of 7c/45f and cloudy. Weather app says “I fucking hate the cold. I fucking hate clouds. And mimes. I can’t fucking stand mimes.”

Engineers seem prone to over-complication sometimes. ‘im indoors is a software engineer. We are going to visit friends on Saturday so I asked him what roughly what time we’d need to be leaving so that I could make my plans for the gym etc. The answer should have been “cab around 1pm to the station”. Simple enough, right? Instead I got a detailed explanation of which trains we “could get on, how split-ticketing might affect it, when we might arrive at the mainline station, how frequently the branch line trains run, and how long it takes between mainline and branch station.

{{{{{Sticky Buns}}}}} I hope everything works out for you all.

{{{{{Taters}}}}}

lily the kittehs are gorgeous, such sweet little faces!

Not much to report here today. I logged out of work yesterday and disappeared into the kitchen to do campus food. Afterwards, I had a bit of sofa time then stirred myself to feed the cats and check litter trays. Bit more sofa time and tea, fusses with Blossom, then it was time to make dinner. We watched a bit more of Slow Horses, and then it was time for bed.

I did have to send a complaint to my local council though. The water company dug a big hole in the road to fix a water main problem, and they decided (again) to barrier off a section of the street. This time they used more barriers and cones, but it does not stop the selfish self-entitled twats who can’t follow the diversion because it takes a few minutes longer. One BMW driver moved a couple of traffic cones on the side of the road so that he could squeeze his car through…by driving it on the pavement! Obviously this became the thing to do, despite it being dangerous because from one side, you can’t really see round the corner and there is still traffic coming towards that junction (and of course, there are people on the pavement).

During the mid-afternoon school run, there are often parents with pushchairs, kids on scooters or bikes, or just running along the pavement ahead of their parents. Quite dangerous really, given the limited visibility for idiots who drive fully on the pavement. Especially when one of those idiots is driving a council minivan full of kids from one of the local special needs schools. As it was, I saw one poor kid almost get squashed by a van as it came through a gap barely wide enough, poor kid squashed himself as far back against a wall as he could, and looked like he was on his tiptoes, holding his breath!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out with light rain with a predicted high of 59 and rain. Methinks we will postpone the procurement of provisions until tomorrow. This looks like a good day to stay inside and dry. Sup will be leftovers from last night.

Lily cute kittehs! The first one looks all sweet and innocent. The second one is judgin’ the world six ways to Sunday.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Woke to temp hovering around freezing (depending on which site you choose to believe.) We got a dusting of snow overnight - just enough to whiten the path and the driveway. And again, depending on who you believe, we’ll have sun and close to 40 Ferrets or mostly clouds and low 30s. I guess we’ll see when we see.

FCD has his semi-annual once-over at the doctor today. I hope he’s more frank with her than he is with me. I’m pretty sure he minimizes things when I ask. But I think he’s mostly honest with Christine. So we’ll see how it all goes. And when he’s done with her, he’ll head straight to the marina. I know there are at least 3 coats on the hull and 2 more to go, unless they got the 4th applied yesterday.

My big plan today is making the practice hatch cover so we can see how it fits. I also want to run to Food Lion today or tomorrow - Diet Coke is on sale. Heaven forbid we run out!!! I’m also thinking I’ll put a hunk o’poke in the slow cooker, then pull it! That’s easy, tho - dump the poke, onion, and BBQ sauce in the crock, turn it on, ignore for 6-8 hours. Then pull it.

And so begins the day. Happy Wednesday!!

Mrs. Nott just got up. She came in here, shading her eyes from my very-bright-light-for-winter-mornings. She muttered, “Ouch, ouch, oof!”

Now it’s time for breakfast.

Mornin’ folks.

It’s 47F, dark and cloudy outside. We expect a daytime high of around 59F, with cloudy to partly cloudy skies.

Those kittens seem to be growing fast, Lily.

BooFae, that is horrible; not your complaint, but the stupidity of the twats driving on the sidewalk. I hope the council actually does something about it before someone is seriously hurt.

I’m not sure what is on the agenda today. Perhaps I’ll wash the bedding. I’d love to take the pups walking, but that’s just not gonna happen with this leg.

My new Garmin watch/fitness thingie arrived yesterday, so I set it up. I already had the app on my phone from my first Garmin fitness tracker, so it wasn’t difficult to do. I had become quite used to my Fitbit, so now I need to learn everything all over again. I like the Fitbit app on the phone better, if I’m honest, but my husband gave me this as a gift, so I shall use it. Who knows, as more data populates, I may like this better.

It seems the days are flying by. I can’t believe it’s already February.

You all take care of yourselves. Stay warm, stay dry, and for goodness sake, no more falling down.

we got to 34f yest., we are at 29f so far this morning. no snow overnight, sad.

swampbear, wow. i can understand using a different glass for type of beverage, i do that with water, milk, that sort of thing. wow! someone either had a cleaner or a really big dishwasher.

susan, they are so pretty. getting all grown up.

i have these cool reusable towel things. Amazon.com: Noveread 36 Pack Japanese Reusable Cleaning Cloths Washable Cotton Kitchen Towels for Home (Blue): Home & Kitchen
they are “too good” for somethings but great at wiping up water spills and cleaning off cat faces. they look really pretty on the paper towel holder. i also like the swedish dishcloths. so many fun designs.
our compost bin does take paper products, towels, serviettes, tissues, that sort of thing our building is good about reducing items into the landfill.

Those are really cute! I just use boring ol’ white cotton tea towels I bought about ten years ago. I bought linen napkins when we moved here and haven’t bought paper napkins since. We use about a roll of paper towels a month, Hubs uses them more.

It was snowing pretty good when I went to bed last night, I heard the snowplow go by while I was brushing my teeth. Everything is white and clean again, snow has a way of making everything prettier IMHO.

I watched the across the street neighbor leave for work today, he was verrrrrry careful on the driveway.

I now own copies of all three Reanimator movies, I found the Bride of the Reanimator today. I think I’m going to invite James over to binge watch them with me. He doesn’t smoke weed, but he does like a drink now and then, so I’ll be sure to stock up on his favorite libation and snacks. Of course I’ll put together a nice cheese board, but B-movies demand B snacks so I will buy some chips as well.
