Good morning. It was misty and cool this morning, but we walked. We only walked about a mile, but that was enough for Chloé’s biological functions to activate, and for her to smell like a wet dog.
We had our yoga sculpt and yin classes last night. The instructor for the first one worked us hard; I can still lift my arms over my head… barely, so the stretching and meditative yin class immediately after was most welcome. Then it was off to get chicken fingers. I might hit the wing shop again Friday with Squeaky after Mrs Magill goes to the women’s retreat.
I have my second counselling session this afternoon. I haven’t really done my homework. This is uncomfortable shit to think about. What if I don’t like to where it leads? Right now, I’m afraid if it goes one way, I’ll lose this good, comfortable life we’ve built up over the last twenty-five years, and if it goes another, I’ll be stuck with this pit in my stomach and never being comfortable in my own skin.
@swampbearSqueaky does the same. If I don’t keep on him, I’ll come into the kitchen and find three or four unrinsed milk cups on the counter. Unfortunately for him, he’s the last one left so we know who’s behind the cups.
@Taters My wife lovers her Garmin tracker, but I’m still a Fitbit fan. The Gamin definitely has more features, though.
I use retired linens for cleaning and cloth napkins. I do go through a roll of paper towels every few months (I wipe the coffee grounds out of the French press with a half a paper towel before putting it in the sink). Not only does that reduce the waste, but the expense.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Laundry is on slate for the day since Sis isn’t coming until tomorrow. Other than that, RDOS most of the day.
It rained most of the day / evening yesterday but was warm for this time of year. Today is sunny, but won’t be as warm.
We made the deliberate choice to toss my stash of old sheets and towels instead of paying to ship it. I regretted that choice within a week of landing here. I had to go to the thrift store and buy towels to cut up for cleaning clothes. (I did take the time to pick the most threadbare ones and left the nicer ones for someone else.)
I occasionally use an old sock, when its mate has gotten too worn out (or disappeared entirely).
Put sock on hand, wipe dusty blinds or whatever. Turn inside-out when slipping off your hand, use the other side for some other crud, then toss the whole mess.
And a good albeit late morning to you all. Up at 6:30am to micturate, but decided to go back to bed for an hour or so…and woke up at 9:15am. So late start to the day, probably be awake until midnight today. Nothing on the agenda, so some house-irk and some gym time is in the plan. Had a 3-apple breakfast (A Fuji apple, a mini-apple pie, and two cups of applesauce) and will have some Mac-n-Cheese later on. 36F heading to 40F so colder than yesterday but not too bad for February.
Boo fae, I do try to plan my trips ahead of time, but not quite in the detail 'im Indoors does… And nice to know the USA does not have a monopoly on idiot drivers. Hope no one gets hurt.
I know, as I get older the years seems to move by faster, which as a RDOS I think is greatly unfair.
As for the great cleaning discussion, I use paper towels a lot, small cloth tea towels some, and whatever comes to hand when I make a mess often.
And it’s almost 11am so I am way behind on the day. Write more later as life occurs. Have a good Hump Day all.
Crazy busy today. I had 1200 pieces(normal is 800), and it looked like everybody else was in the same boat. In spite of the early start, the drivers didn’t leave till 10:00. But I was ahead of the other loaders, because I plan using the load chart. And the LD50 of coffee I have before work every morning. And tomorrow is Flush The system Day 2.0, because the start time in now 0300. I was really tired, but I did fill up Carmen, and do an Aldi run. the were blown out still from the weekend. Brunch was a bowl of oatmeal(apples and cinnamon) and a bagel(everything, with veggie cream cheese)
Sounds like the driver should be in the special needs school, not the kids.
One of the things about the late starts due to the weather was seeming the flaming death orb in the sky. How do you Daywalkers deal with that every day?
I used cut up old towels trimmed to paper towel size for mopping up and cleaning.
Woke up to 20F, which is nice after all the single digits. Breakfast was an omelet with salmon and dill. Tonight’s dinner will be the lobster tails the wife ordered. I’m not a huge fan of lobster, especially at those prices, but once in awhile is okay.
Did the grocery shopping after exercise was over. I may need a nap.
I wrote a screed about quitting the Men’s Club, but I think it’s better suited for the Pit.
I took 2 bags of garbage and 4 bags of recycling to the convenience center, then ran to Food Lion for a bunch of diet coke. Then instead of using a old sheet, I cut up some old Sunbrella to make a practice hatch cover. We’ll take it tomorrow to fit check it.
When my sewing was done, I took Otis for a walk. Now I’m in chillage mode for a bit.
Had my post-op, with some pre-op discussion (surgery isn’t until spring, but we went over some questions and the consent forms).
Now I have wrangled some kittehs and am making breakfunch. Cold coffee! Cold coffee, I say! And a mini corn tortilla with cheddar and refritos. What’s that yiou say? There’s no salsan in the house? Pour on the Cholula, my mateys!
Hi, Mumpers! Just popping in to wave, blow kisses, and throw confetti. I’m running a three-ring circus in a one-ring tent:cat-sitting, walking one dog, and sitting for another. In between, I’m doing appointments with docs. My new right contact lens seems to have vaporized, so that’s one of them.
We lost Findus for a while. Goo found him. First time I haven’t been mad at her getting all puffy.
I passed the USPS assessment test for my rural mail carrier application.
Costco does not accept walk-in applications. Applications must be done online. Also, they don’t have any openings in Bellingham, and they do their hiring in Spring.
I still have to go to Bellingham, as we need things from Trader Joe’s.
I’m back to the glorious time of year when my drive in to work is straight into the sun. Especially bad when it’s all snowy and the roads are wet.
3 hours of meetings today, looking at 4+ tomorrow. How the hell am I supposed to actually do the stuff discussed in said meetings if I’m always in meetings. “oh, hey, can you build an 8’ long octagonal air hockey table in a month? By the way, you have about 8 hours a week to actually work on it.”
Howdy Y’all! We opted to stay inside and dry. The rain has stopped, but it was pretty steady all day. I read, watched stoopid stuff, napped, day drank and et leftover sup. We watched some more episodes of All Creatures Great and Small which doesn’t count as stoopid stuff. The bug guy will come at eight-thirty a.m. tomorrow to do his monthly thang. Oh, we changed the filter this mornin’ for today’s productivity.
It takes a certain sort of person to that sort of thing, I’m glad you are in the club.
James sounded pretty excited by the idea and wants popcorn. Hubs is not as excited, he watched about half an hour of The Reanimator and that was his limit. Fallout Four just expanded, so he’ll spend his afternoon in his room doing whatever they do in that game.
(He’s taken me to places in the game, Hillbilly Hotdog was top of his list.)
Every so often I think I’ll join the local Woman’s Club but then I remember the bumper stickers I saw that time in the parking lot and change my mind again.
I’m a fan of cold coffee in the summer, not so much this time of year. You’d best restock on salsa while you are on your bagel run!
Blows kisses back. Can the two dogs be cared for at the same time?
Damn about your contact lens, I remember what a bother it was to get it made.
Some people plan better than others.
While I think you would be great no matter where you end up, rural mail carrier sounds perfect for you. Your attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines will be such a bonus.
I’m glad you went. You are walking a very lonely road, you need a trusted adviser on the journey.
So my day was a day. I haven’t been swimming lately, I had to take a break because the road is so ick in the snow and ice and I haven’t gone back. I don’t like it, it is boring so now that I’m out of the habit, I don’t want to start again.
Tai Chi friend recorded herself teaching a beginners class and sent it to me. Today I fired it up and got started. I like TC much better than swimming boring laps and I think it does more for me. I will miss the eye candy, though, you have to walk past the gym windows to get to the locker room.
Speaking of TC friend, she used to be a hospice nurse. She loved her patients and went above and beyond for them. She wasn’t being paid enough and was expected to do things alone that demanded two people for safety. So, she found a job on a ranch and quit. Another compassionate medical person is gone. She thinks cleaning stables is better than washing bedpans any day.
Evening all. The usual daily gym sweatage is done, showered and shaved so clean and (mostly) neat, have replaced a lot of the burned-off calories already so doing fine. My mail (almost all requests for donations) provided another tax form and a $2.50 check from the VFW to try and guilt me into donating…which ain’t going to work. So I’m up a grand total of $3.20 from people trying to brib…encourage me to donate to them. Maybe in June… It’s 33F and cloudy outside heading down to 24F tonight with about the same forecast for tomorrow. Garbage has been taken out to the curb for collection tomorrow, so my one big job for the day has been done.
Lily, having both post-op and pre-op discussions at the same time indicates a little stress, so have a {{hug}} out of petty cash.
nellie, sounds like your busier than a bartender on payday. Hang in there and come back to us when you can.
Flyboy, hope the job search goes well.
Maus, glad the counseling session went well.
VanGo, ah, the joys of working for an organization; it’s less stressful than being on your own, but it does have it’s negative points…
swampy, your mentioning the HVAC filter made me realize I haven’t changed mine in awhile, so that (and the water filter in the refrigerator) will go on the list for tomorrow.
Cookie, JtC, as for clubs, I live by the words of Groucho Marx–“I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.”
And that’s all for now. May drop in for a late-night final depending on how the night moves along. Take care all.
