(Old) Up late in the MMP

Hm. I wonder how many I have? Definitely the first one. Fun tidbit: I used to work with the husband of Barbara Crampton’s Re-Animator body double. They had a great loft in DTLA.

Well… It would get me out of the house. And I know the difference between our street, and the street along the shore that has a similar name.

Me too. The neighbour told me I should walk into Costco anyway, even though I’ve been told I can only apply online.

GodWife has gone to Bible study. I’ve just had a cheeseburger sandwich. I’d bought a bag of frozen quarter-pound patties a couple/few weeks ago. They’re not bad. Not as good as fresh; but I think they’re cheaper, and they’re definitely more convenient. Monday I tried to buy ground pork. The supermarket didn’t have any. I went back today, and… nada. This time the butcher was there, so I asked him. It turned out that the ‘new guy’ had put the ground pork in the beef section. So I got my pork, and I can make meatloaf. Maybe tomorrow. They also had a nice hunka deadcow in the BIBIR bin. Maybe Sunday I’ll make pot roast. I got a rack of pork ribs from Trader Joe’s today, too. It’s in the inside freezer.

Up from naptime, having a martini, chicken and cavatappi, and spinach, tomatoes and onions.

Orkin or Jeff Goldblum from The Fly?

I use the Aldi version for Monday cheeseburgers. And congrats on passing the test.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 32 degrees Ferret Height(Zero Centipedes).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/40f with a predicted high of 5c/41f and a chance of rain. Weather app says “Today, Mother Nature has decided to fucking take a delicate piss on you.” Nothing delicate about this morning’s deluge, I can tell you!

Perhaps that should be the start of your conversation with the counsellor? They may have some useful advice, I am sure there are other people who have felt that way at the start of their journey.

That driver certainly has some special needs! The ridiculous thing is that the diversion would had added all of 5 minutes to his route, but allowed him to do it safely.

That’s a lot to be dealing with, best of luck!

Hurrah! Shame that Costco isn’t hiring until spring, but that’s not too far off now.

And that is exactly what I told our erstwhile manager in my meeting with her yesterday when she asked if I was applying for our vacant team manager position!

Yesterday was a mixed bag of a day. We had a busy office day because everyone was in, and our erstwhile manager came to sit in our office too. We had a meeting with someone from Facilities about our office move, which resulted in tears from my Troublesome Minion. She went off to have a discussion with erstwhile manager while I had a meeting with someone else about some stuff that Troublesome Minion has made a right pig’s ear of. So I need to talk to her about that today. Then I had a meeting with erstwhile manager, talked about a lot of stuff but didn’t really get anywhere with it.

I went home feeling somewhat deflated…but saw the chippy was open, told ‘im indoors when I got back and we decided to have a chippy tea. It wasn’t great, and I don’t think we’ll bother again. We went to the pub and had a couple of drinks and a natter about all sorts of stuff. I was home and in bed just after 11pm while he was busy sorting out catnip, treats and ham for the mogs. He’d bought steak for dinner last night so that’s in the fridge for tonight instead, and we’ll have home-made chips which will be far superior to the ones we had last night from the chippy.

Off for a cuppa and some breakfast, I need to get ready for my 10am meeting with Troublesome Minion :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 49 and mostly cloudy. Ick. As I mentioned, bug guy will be here at eight-thirty. doggio if The Fly showed up it would not surprise me as pretty much nuttin’ surprises me anymore. Later this mornin’ we shall procure provisions and get fried chikin take outs for lunch as today’s main need to feed. Then, as is our wont, we shall spend the rest of the day as RDOS sloths.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification and the donnin’ of attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed must happen.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

It amazes me what some drivers will do to save seconds - literal seconds! I remember a time some years back when this idiot was riding my bumper before making an illegal lane change to zip past me. I saw him turn off shortly thereafter and I counted - he saved somewhere between 10-15 seconds, not to mention wallowing in what I expect were some serious temper issues…

Today started with 20 Ferrets, but it is supposed to get ever-so slightly above freezing this afternoon. Main project for the day is cleaning FCD’s shop. He’s a very messy worker - setting tools down thither and yon, not finding what he needs, so fetching another tool that gets left somewhere - lather, rinse, repeat. Plus he’s been doing lots of sawing and sanding, so there’s dust everywhere. I’ll probably sweep and vacuum while he tracks down tools and puts them away.

We’re also supposed to go to the marina so I can fit-check the cover I made yesterday. And depending on the time, I may stitch up the nav board covers. A full day ahead!

Happy Thursday!!

Best of luck, nellie!

I’m planning to sleep a bit more but forgot to turn off the notification volume on my phone and had a text from someone a few time zones ahead of me. Topaz is grooming Shiso as they lie against my leg. I shifted them to feeding on demand for dry qat fud and that seems to be going well, with no vomiting or eating all the kibble because it is there.

Yesterday I had a long talk with a friend to help her get in touch with the emotion that’s missing from her novel draft. I suggested some writing exercises that she says helped (that was the early text message). I also laid out a rough itinerary and booked planes and some accommodations for events in Spain toward the end of the year. Thinking I should pay in advance for some of the reservations since they’re quoted in euros and the US dollar is sagging.

Today I’ll do some cleaning and work on my own manuscript. I also need to transliterate a poem in another alphabet that I agreed to read aloud at an upcoming event. Hey, maybe I’ll even go for a walk.

Morning all. Up about 7am and have broken fast on a cool (25F heading to 44F) and cloudy day. Outside of waiting to bring the garbage bin back inside and sweating off the requisite calories at the gym, nothing much on the agenda. Paid my one credit card bill yesterday on-line, the other one is due on the 20th, so will use it until then. Need to do the digital coupon browsing so I am ready for the big shopping day tomorrow, have most of the list drawn up already.

To the best of my knowledge I have never seen any of the Reanimator movies, horror and ickiness just ain’t my thing.

boo fae, hope the Minion meeting went well…or as well as could be expected.

FCM, yeah, the ones that get me are those that go zipping past at 25mph faster than me…and I pull up next to them at the next red light. Happy shop-cleaning.

Lily, probably a good idea to pay in Euros…and speaking of Spain, any ideas on things to do if I have a day and a half in Barcelona in April?

OK, need to go through those digital coupons (over 500 posted of which maybe there are 3-4 I can use). Have a good Thorsday all.

Good morning.

It’s 40F, damp, and a little foggy. We’re expecting a light morning drizzle, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and a daytime high of 57F.

Nellie, good to see you! Come back when you can.

BooFae, work, and especially Troublesome Minion, sound, well…troublesome. I hope today is much better. I hope today’s conversation goes well.

Johnny, sending good luck wishes for a position that fits you. I’m not surprised you passed the assessment.

I have two pups under my desk as I type. I need to get the kitchen cleaned up, because other than rinsing and stacking the dishes last night, I didn’t do much else. This morning, I’m regretting last night’s inaction. Ah, well. It’s not the end of the world.

I may or may not go out and about today. I can’t spend long periods on my right leg, so I can’t go walking or anything.

Welp, that’s about all that’s happening on the Tater front. I need to rollsuck again, and my carpets could use a good cleaning, but again, long periods of time on my leg bother me. That is frustrating.

Time for some more coffee, and a little more adulting. I’ve paid a couple of bills this morning, but I still have a couple more to pay. You all take care, and I’m sending out hugs, just because.

Happy Thorsday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Sis will be here in a bit. She’s going to hang out whilst I shower (I’ve been doing sink baths since coming back home. I really want a shower, but want someone here for safety reasons the first time), then we’re going to go to Texas Art Asylum before she does my grocery shopping.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I haven’t been since 2092-ish, but Sagrada Familia is weird and beautiful. Just walking around and peering into gardens is fun, and so is stopping at little restaurants for a snack and some olives. There are a lot of Gaudí sites, including Güell Park, which can probably still be reached on the long loop of the hop-on-hop-off bus.

That was meant to express curiosity, not criticism, so apologies if you were offended by it.

At least one of the six supermarkets here (BJs, I think) sells “meat loaf mix” – roughly equal proportions of ground beef, veal and pork. Do any of the stores in your area ever have that?

Same here, but “slightly below” rather than “slightly above”. There are people I worked with who would be quite surprised to know that I actually own a coat, but I’m starting to thing thermal underwear would be a good thing to buy.

At first glance that had me wondering why you needed to visit the marines.

I’d never heard of them before they were mentioned here. Still haven’t gotten around to looking them up.

Happy Saturday, everybody! (I’m retired, so every day is Saturday. Besides, do you wait until 25 December to wish people “Merry Christmas”?)

Not that I’ve seen. There are two supermarkets where we live, each about four miles from the house. At least one of them has tiny meatloafs in aluminum trays. No idea what’s in them. They’re just bake-and-serve. They’re not as good as what I make (which is what dad made, which he probably got from a recipe on a box of Lipton Onion Soup Mix). I use, as dad did, two pounds of ground beef and one pound of ground pork. I could replace the pork with veal, but veal is expensive.

Good morning, folks. It was 23F and humid this morning, so it was one of those colds that just sticks with you. We had another short walk, followed by a hot shower. I remember looking at my father’s Boy Scout Handbook from when he was younger, and it recommended taking cold showers, because it was apparently healthier. Oh, hell no.

Thank you everyone for your support. It really does mean a lot to me. I have a feeling yesterday’s session was really to assess my risk of self harm. Hopefully, I’ve reassured her that it is minimal.

I have grown bored with Curse of Strahd. I’m trying to talk my group into trying Call of Cthulhu. The system seems easy to learn, and (personally) I like the more modern setting. Does anyone have experience with it?

We had an emergency meeting this morning. Apparently, one of our switches in a major market is on its last legs, and some people still have land lines. It looks like we’re going to be doing a big push today to move as many lines to the packet switch we’d (literally) just installed. They say it’s job security.

The cover I made yesterday fits well, so I can make a proper one out of the better fabric. I left the paint shed as soon as they started applying the next coat because of the odor. I don’t understand how it doesn’t bother FCD! So I’m in the car with Otis, waiting.

We need to stop at CVS for a prescription, then a quick run thru the car wash. Dunno if the shop will be cleaned today after all - I’ll stand by to help if needed. Meanwhile, I wait…

Great that it fits!

I’ve only had two cats that had eating disorders and they came pre-installed. Cats who haven’t learned that they need to eat for tomorrow often don’t try. Its good that your sweeties haven’t had to learn that terrible lesson.

I wouldn’t really call them horror. Maybe the first one? Kinda? Certainly not the other two.

Nightmare on Elm street was icky horror and that Jason guy wasn’t any better. Dr. West was just misunderstood, LOL!

I certainly understand. I’m sure nothing bad will happen, but it won’t hurt to have her there just in case. I hope you enjoy it

Unless you are a big HP Lovecraft fan (in which case you would already know what they are) or into old grade B movies, there isn’t really any reason to.

It is loosely based on a 1922 story written by HP Lovecraft and has become a bit of a cult classic over the years. Jeffrey Combs played his mad scientist part to perfection and of course it ended like all of HPL’s stories and novels did.

Of course, it is not as popular a theme as The Thing which is an adaption of HPL’s Mountains of Madness (more so in the book than in the movie), there have been several remakes of that.

Which is another wonderful HPL creation!

Hurray! That’s always a good feeling, knowing that you did it right

So not much today. I can sure feel yesterday’s Tai Chi session, but that’s a good thing. It means I moved muscles that have been allowed to fall into disuse. At some point I’m going to run to the store and get some salad stuff but that’s my only plans for the day. Din tonight will be baked chicken and steamed broccoli, his new gout diet is so very boring. I’m hoping I can add some variety back in once he’s properly medicated.

I do have a bit of an “I told you so” moment to share. He has UNdiagnosed and UNtreated IBS. I’ve been suggesting yogurt and sweet Acidophilus milk for years and he’s been ignoring me.

Well, when he had that bout of cellulitis the antibiotics tore him up, he was afraid to leave the house because he needed to be that close to the bathroom.

He finally agreed that maybe some yogurt wouldn’t hurt and was feeling so poorly that he took the acidophilus tablets (all natural!) I bought him.

Now, for the first time in years, his IBS is under control and he putting the tablets in his pill container to be sure he remembers to take them daily.

I’ll take the win.

{Nerd}Actually{/nerd}, The Thing is based on John W. Campbell Jr’s Novella Who Goes There?, but the Antarctic setting and theme of isolation is almost a direct lifting from In the Mountains of Madness. MoM is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories, and I wish Del Toro had been able to make the movie.

A lot of the trucks(including all 3 of mine) did get all the crap delivered yesterday. So TPTB decided to save time and payroll and just leave the stuff in the cars, and build around it. So I had 3 half full cars to start with, plus the drivers had shifted things around. So it was an exhausting mess, and the drivers got out at 10 again. Plus the Supreme Shouting Officer was walking around shouting. Not at me, I got my shit together(workwise, anyways  ). I just wish stupidity was something I could file a grievence on. I stopped and did my Senior Day shopping, grabbed 4 case of beer for the Puppy Bowl on Sunday. Spot batted around a few ice cubes, now it’s naptime.

< CDO twitches >

Dunno, have you doomscrolled lately to make sure?

If you vacuumed the pups it might be faster.

That makes us happy, too.

Are gonna do a Victory Dance in front of him?

does otis like the car wash?
