(Old) Wait - what time is it in the MMP?

Spot and I napped. Now I’m having an Old Fashioned and a bacon cheeseburger, and watching MNF.

:open_mouth: You could have gotten 2 anna half Spots for that here.

But now I gotta deal with the Christmas BS.

Gordie mostly did the random thing. Except for the one time he ran out of food, and when I woke up, there was a line of toys nose to tail from the food dish to my bedroom door.

Blessings on you for taking in an older cat. I once say two littermates up for adoption, they were ten and I would have adopted them but I already had two cat. We will want to see pics when she is in the moode to pose.

Eagerly awaiting documentary evidence of feline.

2 thoughts: there are a few meds that can only be prescribed a month at a time. Sometimes that is a federal mandate (drug schedules). Insurance companies have also been known to impose that stricture, the cheap poopyheads. IME neither will budge if that is the case.

Depending on the med, the doctor might be willing to write a separate prescription for you to not run through your insurance and instead pay out of pocket to get past it if it is a problem caused by insurance.

2nd thought: pharmacists have many wondrous ways to work around this type of travel blockade, ways that aren’t known to us mere civilians. Go to your local pharmacist, lay it out to them and ask what can be done. Sometimes it is as simple as them transferring your prescription to pharmacy where you will be when your current supply runs out. They have other ways as well.

The last thing they want you to do is “walk” your meds, skipping days to build up a supply. As a cranky old, grizzled night nurse I don’t want you to do that either. That is always a bad idea and with some meds a really really bad idea.

Please go talk to your pharmacist. If yours isn’t local, establish a relationship with one who is and transfer your prescriptions there, at least for the duration of your travel.

If the solution ends up being you paying for prescriptions out of pocket, use GoodRx to minimize the cost.

I know I’ve said it before, but fuck hiccups. Going on 2 hours now.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 12c/54f and cloudy. Weather App says “This fucking weather is like the band, Oasis. It thinks it’s fucking better than the Beatles, but it’s not.” Well, to be fair, Oasis is just a Beatles clone and I don’t care much for either of them. The weather, however, is fine for me. Not too bright, but it’s dry and crisp out there.

I hope it came back on quickly - but good to know you’ve got the essentials covered!

That is a gorgeous design, I wish I’d got the talent (and time) to do something like that!

That sounds like an excellent reward for a prompt doc’s appointment and having to deal with the shuttle and diversions.

MIL needs more fat too…good to hear that she decided it tasted good enough without that extra fat! Maybe that’s down to her almost-blindness, she is not seeing what’s actually there?

We have new speedbumps on the main road at the bottom of our street. People either don’t bother to slow down and just bounce over them, or they come to an almost complete stop and proceed at about 5mph. It’s very frustrating but they’re almost impossible to avoid around here.

I don’t really feel any effects of an hour’s change (and we did ours a week before you so I’ve had longer to get used to it) but it does affect the cats. They’re all clamouring for breakfast early and now they are firm in the belief that dinnertime has moved too. I like the lighter mornings but it won’t be long before I leave the house and get back home in the dark. I also don’t like night driving so do as little of it as I can.

Good luck with the appointment and the new man! Might not be a good idea to show him your hat collection though, he might draw all the wrong conclusions from that

After irk yesterday, i drove to the station to collect 'im indoors from the train because I was feeling generous  Dinner was leftover chicken curry from the freezer so that didn’t take much effort and a pleasant evening was had. Before I went to bed, I hauled the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb for collection today (JtC, put your bin out!), it’s now 9.25am and the dustcart hasn’t been round yet. Once it does, I’ll go out and haul the biiiiiig bin back to where it lives.

I need to cook some chicken this morning to use for campus lunches this week, I bake it in the oven in a Maggi bag, I think today’s choice will be Mediterranean because I’ve only got two left in the pantry so it’s that or Jalfrezi. I’ll do some rice as well, and I’ve got some vegetables that I cooked at the weekend but didn’t finish so they will go in as well. Once I’ve finished irk today, I’ll put that together and also make three tubs of overnight oats for breakfasts, then I’ll be all ready for the campus trek.

I also need to finish my grocery list for tonight’s supermarket run, I think I’ve got most things on the list but I need to check up on the cat supplies because we don’t want any of that running out!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. Rain is predicted for tomorrow and Thursday. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Be still my heart. Outside of that RDOS inactivities will be the order of the day. News will be avoided as it is election day and the news will be stoopid stuff. Sup will be bbq sammiches made from the pulled poke we brought home from brunch Sunday, slaw, and fries.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all! To my Amurrkin folk, if you haven’t already, go vote.

We voted early. We sat at the kitchen table with my macbook and researched everything we could to be able to make an informed decision. This is a close one and has the potential to become very ugly.

It’s o’ dark o’clock and Boo is getting stomped on by an insistent Siamese (is there another kind?) while I chug down my first life-giving coffee while getting ready to head out for my 7am to 9pm(if I’m lucky) shift as an election board worker.

Switched from my home precinct to a new precinct at the last minute yesterday so I have less of an idea of how people will behave. I’m not worried~I’m taking my cane just in case this grizzled old broad needs to wave it at miscreant whippersnappers in the parking lot coming and going. I’ll channel Jane if I need to, plus I’ll always have nellie’s withering high school teacher’s glare in my arsenal too. There is the night nurse voice to use first, it usually quells those with ill intentions, especially followed with “I’ve been a nurse for over 40 years,I know how to stop you in your tracks without leaving a mark.”

I’ll check in as I can later. Think good thoughts for me fellow Mumpers and make sure to vote if you haven’t already. Moxie the Meezer says so too, loudly in my ear at the moment. She’s going to be mightily aggrieved when I stand up to get dressed and then leave.

Agree. I got myself a new bright blue sweater to wear for my poll worker shift, hippie. Not allowed to wear any political or electioneering clothing in the polling place of course but nobody said anything about what color top this old rabble-rouser broad wears to work. I’m thinking of it as just a giant blue dot in a sea of red. At my size it really is fairly giant. Using my better judgement I deferred on adding pearls to my outfit, I thought that might be pushing it. And it’s important to not let them see you coming.

doggio - you’ll undoubtedly be thrilled to hear my cushions got to Pennsylvania yesterday and they say I’ll get them on Wednesday. Maybe it was one long-ass truck ride from the west coast to the east.

Once it gets sauced up and served I doubt anyone will taste much difference between fatty and not fatty. Heck, she won’t even remember the conversation or even when I made it.

Me too. It’s even getting to where dusk is hard on my eyes because of this. Fortunately, I have very little, if any, reason to drive much these days.

Yeah. Even yesterday’s news was all about polling. Everyone apparently wants to be able to say “See, I predicted it!!” As to voting, we already did and got emails back from the Board of Elections saying they got our ballots. So that’s done.

I’d pay to witness that!! Good luck at the polls.

I woke from a terrifying election dream, not about the presidential race but about something my brain conjured up that affected my teaching job, which I apparently had in this dream. In fact, because of the dream election, I decided I had to quit my dream teaching job because I didn’t want to work under the dream winner. I don’t know - it was strange. Oh and I was in a house where the bathroom literally look into the kitchen and vice-versa. So I have no idea what was going on in my brain.

Then there was my morning nightmare - Ziva had horked up into her water dish, so I had that mess to clean. At least it wasn’t on the carpet. It appears a hairball precipitated the event. Possibly because I didn’t brush her last night? Was it revenge? Would my kitteh do that??? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hospice nurse is coming today. That’s pretty much all. I may make a quick run to Food Lion. Or not.

Happy Tuesday!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 45F and partly cloudy outside. The day will remain cloudy, and the expected high temperature is 53F. Yesterday morning was stormy, and the wind gusts continued well into the evening. Fortunately, the power went out at the office for a brief moment but came back on. So, today will be very calm as compared to yesterday.

My husband and I dropped off our ballots yesterday evening. I am studiously avoiding the news because I don’t want to hear about polls or continued nastiness. Now, we just sit and wait. If I didn’t have to work for a living, I’d binge-watch the British Baking Championship because it’s calming and pleasant.

I don’t mind falling back, but I hate to spring forward. So, the switch to standard time doesn’t affect me significantly, but I’m not too fond of the springtime change. I wish they’d leave it on standard time. When I must commute, I drive to work in the dark, regardless of the season.

I hope you’re doing better today, VanGo.

Congrats on a new feline overlord, Chef.

I have multiple meetings today and need to be back at the office tomorrow for a GSA lease inspection. In my brain, that was supposed to occur next week, although I knew perfectly well that the date for the inspection was the 6th. So, this week, I’ll have two in-office days, and I’ll just go in once next week.

I have appointments for the pups on the 18th for their bortadella shots. They’ll also get their nails trimmed. It happens that it is a Monday, so I won’t be able to go to the office. I probably won’t make the day up, either. Technically, I only need two days, but I always go in for three since I have an office. My boss won’t mind.

Alrighty, I need to finish my second cup of coffee and sort the kitchen before heading upstairs to work. Sending you all my best wishes for a smooth day.

Eventually. She’s still getting used to us and the new environs. She really surprised me last night. After not seeing her all day (or the day before), I climbed into bed to read for a bit and she jumped up on the bed wanting scritches. We had a prolonged love-in, with her purring like mad. She made return visits throughout the night. I also moved her food from the kitchen to the bedroom, and she cleaned the plate during the night. I was getting a bit concerned about her not eating or drinking. This morning she followed me into the kitchen and I gave her some more chow. Now if she’ll just show us that she knows what the litter box is for, it will be clear sailing.

Morning all. Up about 6:30am, so still adjusting to the time change. Sent a message about re-filling my prescriptions to the Drs. office, we’ll see if action gets taken, and my voting will take place around 10am after the early-morning crowd and before the lunch mob. Will probably follow the election here on the SDMB rather than listen to all the talking heads, so we’ll see how it goes. Chance of rain today but it’s 66F now and heading to 78F, so it’ll be a comfortable voting day.

JtC, haven’t been to Cracker Barrel in quite awhile (no Bob Evans within 100 miles of me), just don’t care much for their food (breakfast is good, however).

Sticky Buns, hope the head-shrinker can help you out.

FCM, hope the exercise keeps working on your shoulder. And good news on the cushions, they might even have been on a fast train carrying trailers.

BBBoo, hope your day at the polls is quiet and you don’t have to raise your voice or your cane.

VanGo, I -hic- hope you -hic- get rid of your -hic- hiccups soon -hic- -hic- -hic-

Boo fae, they took out the speedbumps on a road i need to exit the housing development for the main road, has made things a lot easier these days. Glad 'im indoors is back and hopefully bin collection will be sometime today. And your campus meals sound delicious.

Taters, sounds like you have the week in order; hope there are no nasty surprises (because there are always surprises).

Cookie, sounds like she’s warming up to you and getting adjusted.

OK, need to break fast with some Cheerio’s and an apple. Have a good day all.

Thank you, BooFae, for the much needed laugh this morning!

I had some mighty plans for what to do before I went to my appointment, but I’m very tired and sore today, so I’m just sitting here with Annie and hanging out for a good long while.

I voted. Longest line I’ve ever seen for voting. It took all of 20 minutes. I live in a small town, but the folks working (and rah!! to them, including my next-door neighbor) said the lines were longer earlier in the day.

And now we wait…

So far, so good working the election. People waiting before we opened and a line out the door for the first hour.

Everyone is very patient and pleasant, way beyond just civil.

Bodes very well for my long day. I’m eagerly awaiting my break so I can slam down :coffee: #2.

i got home from the philly rally at 10 past midnight. lager was not amused. got home just in time to refill his timed feeder. to distract him i gave koritza her can of fancy feast. his feeder went off at 15 past midnight.

got up today and dragged down stairs with my basket of goodies for the polling station. they were accepted enthusiastically. i ended up voting as it was empty and the shuttle was running a bit late… our station is only for our building.

last night they canceled the afternoon shuttle due to road closures for the rally. we are still having detours and delays. it should ease up this afternoon.

i have to get cat supplies on the way home today so hopefully the shuttle is running.

why is it still tuesday!!??!

Miles to go before we sleep.

Miles, lots and lots of miles.

Gonna be a long, long day and then night.
