Ooooh, looky, it's the second annual springy MMP!

LiLi, they’re called ‘bouncing baby boys’ for a reason.

First on the page? Sweet!

Good point.

Hope early in the week means Monday, Taters.

Sounds like a hard situation to deal with, taxi. Could you call her and let her know you’re sending it because you thought it would be too hard to talk about - or would that make it worse?

Annoying OP, SO. I liked your post, though. And the one that Bobbio linked. Happy Birthday, anyway!

Tired. Trying to figure out what I’m doing tomorrow; plant shopping first thing, I think. Had more to say, but I’ve forgotten what. Back later when memory upgraded.

Medicinal ice cream has been ingested, towels have finally been folded, and I’m still yawning. Wonder if there’s anything worth watching on TV tonight that’ll put me to sleep…

Um… Yeah. :stuck_out_tongue:

And because I know you’re all dying of curiousity, yes, we did go out to dinner. We went to one of his favorite places. It’s just ‘ok’ for me but he likes their wings. After that we did a little bit of grocery shopping and just finished having bowls of ice cream with magic shell. Yum!

Next up is more Doping, bedtime and maybe some more appreciation.

Oops… Missed the edit. ** FCM**, I was hoping that we might be able to head your way for the holiday weekend and your festivities. However, it looks like we’ll be heading on a road trip to somewhere upstate New York in a couple of weeks instead. Any Mumpers live near Rochester? We’ll actually be going to Sodus, NY to buy some antique tv stuff. Complete with large moving van rental being driven by yours truly. :dubious:

Howdy Y’all! An unhappy bear reportin’ in. Details in a sec.

Puggy yay on extra ice. Beerator has a hooked up ice maker. Real handy for when peoples come over.

Poor Bernie! Give here some extra skritches from Unca swampy.

Yays, Boos, Hugs, etc as needed.

Now, I am an unhappy bear.

I am at mom’s. That’s not why I’m unhappy. I’m unhappy cause twuck died. Big time! See, I decided to drive twuck because he gets good gas mileage. So, I get here, see mom do all that happy stuff, then I went to the sto’ to get some stuff for tomorrow’s familly gettogether. I’m on my way back and twuck starts makin’ awful noises and I hear a loud thunk noise. Twuck dies. I get him off the road (yes, he decided to do this at a traffic light on a waaaaaaay busy road) and make a call. BIL comes and we decide this does not look good. Looks like cracked heads (as opposed to crack heads). So, twuck gets towed to a local place I know is good. The verdict… I can have new heads installed for $1100 or get a new engine for $3800. I have to make a decision tomorrow. The $1100 job does not guarantee there are not other problems with the engine. For $3800 I do get a new engine with a three year 75,ooo mile warranty. Twuck’s blue book value is around $3910. Twuck is almost nine years old. AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I don’t wanna trade right now. I do have ‘Stang and the Blazer, so it’s not like I am vehicleless. However, the southern in me lurves havin’ a truck around cause, well, one never knows when one will need one. I may get the engine replaced and hang onto it. I could pay the $1100 and just sell twuck. BIL and I are going to discuss stuff over beerverages shortly. He’s pretty savvy on this stuff. Now y’all know why I am an unhappy bear. :frowning:

Oh well, life goes on.

Ima go see sis and BIL. Later Y’all!

Home, hurting, Teh Sick is a little better.

LiLi, you can hide in my harem. I banged a nephews head once, putting him down. Now he’s a schizophrenic serial killer.

Don’t go all beef, bean, and cheese burrito on everybody!

sdfdsggdfgfgdfvbv Sorry, hard to type with only one hand.

Aleq, you wanna beat my man-stick? How ya doin’?

gotti, one of my wheel covers fell off, and I hurt my hand punching the other one back on. Apparently my midlife crisis car is a station wagon with sporty wheel covers.

{{{{Bernie}}}}

swampy, sorry about the twuck.

Violently, yes. Then again, The Boy decided that after watching me mope for a couple of days about my crappy work situation, I needed a pick-me-up… so I came home to a bouquet of red gerbera daisies AND he’s taking me out to Athens Bakery for Greek honey balls in a few minutes. They may not be chocolate, but they’re the next best thing.

(The Boy’s parents insisted on paying for half of our Dyson when we bought it. They’re the awesomest in-laws… though their gift didn’t come with chocolate attached, so I guess your folks win that contest too.)

Oh, and LiLi, you’d have to drop the baby from much higher up to qualify for Bad Mother. Britney Spears has you beat by several feet right now.

Sorry about twuck, swampy. That sucks.

{{taxi}}

you have a truck, a sports/muscle car, and an SUV? and you’re worried about a (compared to what your insurence and fuel bills must be) pawltry three grand?

Men and their ability to brag. :dubious:

Boys and their toys…

Hi everyone.

I am still tryignto get wedding pictures uploaded but when i log into photobucket there is no freakin upload tab! So I will have to figure else something out…

grrrrrr

So…how y’all been?

Hi mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmms! We’re fine. How’re you?

Do you have Flash blocked on Photobucket? That messes things up sometimes. I wound up uploading with their basic uploader because that’s the only one where I could see the button.

Off to sleepy bye…yes, it’s early.

I am back from the dead–or something. Ran around after work and am now uploading songs into iTunes or whatever you call inserting a CD and getting the music into your computer. Now I have to figure out how to get it onto my Nano, for which I have no ear buds, so must make another trip tomorrow to Target.

It’s already 0830. Gah.

swats doggio firmly on nose with rolled up newspaper

Does THAT answer the question, mister? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m watching last night’s Colbert Report again, he had the most amazing interview with an astronaut, Garrett Reisman, from the space station. Colbert was so tickled I thought he’d bust, and Garrett has a great sense of humor–when he laughs he tips backward like a big bald baby falling over from the power of his own giggle. Priceless! Here’s the YouTube video.

Too bad about the twuck there, swampy, that’s a bummer. Maybe you can find someone to take it off your hands in non-running condition for a parts car or something similar.

{{{taters}}} Hope all is well in there!

Pie, glad you’re feeling appreciated, that’s nice…

Dunno, mmmmmmmm, my photobucket is okay and I use Firefox with Flashblock–what do you see when you load the page?

Don’t worry, LiLi, he’ll manage to make it through lots worse than a little bump and it’s good for them to learn that Gravity Is The LAW early!

I should have dinner, SO is having hot dogs (gag) and nothing looks good right now. I could make quesadillas or some gyoza or a salad but it doesn’t sound yum. I really want Taco Hell but I do NOT wanna drive. Grump grump…

Hmmm… I’ve seen no shortage of blown head gaskets, and a thrown rod or two, but an actual cracked head? If conditions got that bad to cause the head to fail, there’s probably more damage elsewhere. As it was explained to me when my car suffered a blown head gasket, coolant gets into the hot cylinder and almost explosively turns into steam The sudden blast of steam in the system will do its best to escape. “Where” is the problem - through hoses, gaskets, that weak spot in the radiator that was going to spring a leak next month…

Does the $3800 for a new engine include the labor to “R&R” (Remove & Replace) all of the this-and-that things that are bolted to an engine? Do you have enough budget reserved for replacing nearly worn-out things that might as well be replaced while the labor’s included as part of the overall project? In other words - do you really want to put that 85,000 mile old water pump back on? If you do, will it spite you two weeks later and fail?

How old is Twuck in both years and miles? How’s the rest of the drivetrain? Body’s still in good shape? How much longer were you planning to keep him? Let me guess - just short of forever because he’s paid for.

I’d either look at the $1,100 as “should be enough to keep the thing alive until I get another vehicle” or plan on $5,000 to swap the engine and whatever else got blowed up or needs replacement.

See, this is why I hate MMPs because I always get behind. I missed out on two pages and basically just skimmed everything looking for things mentioning my name or otherwise attention-grabbing. How do you guys do it?!

(update on me, family came down today, I graduated (I didn’t cry the whole time, although I was kind of choking back tears at a couple of points because I didn’t want to mess up my picture), we ate dinner, they left. I got to drive my mom’s fancy new car (some kind of Honda) with the annoying talking lady who tells you where to go (NO I DON’T NEED TO MAKE A U-TURN I KNOW WHERE I’M GOING!!!) I was hoping they’d just hand me the key or something and say “Happy graduation!” They did give me a photo album that has probably 200 pictures of me as a baby, elementary school graduation, halloweens, and every minor detail of my life for the last 21 years. I don’t really have the emotional involvement in me right now to look at it and cry like I need to, but at some point I will. I skimmed it too.)

Adding, as I’m reading back through,

swampy, mommy and daddy didn’t get me a car for graduation. I’ll give you 20 bucks!

LiLi CAKE! I know I didn’t want ice cream the other night but I wish I had cake now. The folks and I hit up Starbucks before heading home and I left the other 2/3 of my blueberry muffin in their car. :frowning:

Off to shop for plants!

Back later to actually read and respond!

Guess who woke up around 5 on Saturday morning :frowning: I had hoped to sleep in, especially since it’s still grey and dreary and rainy - perfect sleepin’ in weather, right? But no, I was wide awake.

So I tried another gambit - watch TV and get all dopey again and fall back to sleep. Except that Taz came in to get skritches. And as I was flipping thru the channels, I came to a National Geographic program about Kodiak Island (hi, kai!!) that was really fascinating - what a beautiful area that is!! And with all of that, the coughing kicked in, so sleep was just about impossible. I got up.

While I was brushing my teeth, I had 2 cats and Scruffy “helping” me - Cleo was inspecting the shower, and Taz was sitting on the toilet, watching her. How did I ever take care of my personal tasks without a menagerie supervising?? Then I took the doggies out, and Bernie stumbled yet again near the door. Looks like I need to talk to the vet. I expect the day is not too far off when she falls and can’t stand again.

If I can keep the coughing under control, we’ll empty the van today, then fill it with garbage and recycling for disposal. There are two half-filled shelf units in the garage, plus a fair bit of space next to the fridge - that should be enough for all the crap in the van. The TV and computer stuff will go in the house, but the boxes of junk can stay out there for the kids to deal with.

Wish I had some hot chocolate - that would feel so good on my throat about now. <sigh> poor, sick me… <picture me all pathetic-looking, totally without chocolate>
