oh, I do like that answer so much better than the “you’re getting old” response I got from Cousin. But when she says that I always remind her no matter how old I get, she’ll always be older (okay by only 3 months, but older is older)
Today’s workout was a good one, but I really struggled with it today. I just felt so tired, but I kept pushing on.
Mr. Taters and our friend are talking about going on Wednesday too so they can do the yoga class then take a steam and a swim. You know, I’m going to have to give our friend a name for here because we spend a lot of time with him. I’m going to call him Allie Bobbie because that’s my new pet name for him.
At any rate, I don’t know if I’ll do the yoga/steam/swim thing because well, TMI time, my monthly visitor is here. I mean, I could do the yoga thing, but not the other two. Plus, I’ll already have gone on Tuesday night.
I appreciate what these workouts are doing for my body, but I gotta be honest and say I don’t love doing it. I go because I know I have to, and I do feel guilty if I miss a night, but I certainly don’t look forward to it. Plus, it’s not like we only go for an hour or so. These workouts take my whole evening during the weeknights we go, plus another four hours every Saturday.
Li-Li, that link was hilarious. I loved it.
I keep forgetting to add my congrats to all our grads. So,
CONGRATULATIONS!
**gt, ** I love those plants. I love red and I seem to always be drawn to unusual (not normally seen in gardens around here) plants and seem always be drawn to red. Unfortunately, I haven’t spent much time planting anything these last two years, so I basically need to start over. I’d like to get going, but it seems my weekends are sucked up so quickly now, especially because of the workout day on Saturday. The weather here hasn’t been exactly spring like either.
Maybe next weekend I’ll get a chance to buy some plants and plant them in the ground.
Still awake. Why oh why oh why???
I hope I never become an Old Person, because you guys go to bed so early!!!
Grrrrrrr!!
because, my dear, like me, you cannot stay away from the MMP.
as for you, c-bear, it will happen to you, too, when you least expect it. But not to panic, I’d say you’ve got a few decades before you have to worry.
So I went out with my friends and a nice time was had by all. One of my friends has the funniest stories about checking books out of the library, but I won’t try to retell any of them because I would fail to do her justice. I love hanging out with my lit geek friends because all of our stories involve books at some point. And slightly tipsy conversations about Flannery O’Connor.
Loved the link, Lissla Lissar. My favorite part:
I forgot to mention the funniest story from my Little Rock Adventure (well, not funniest, but most PG-rated and awkward).
The friend I was staying with has a roommate, and they’re both moving. Roommate’s mom was there helping her move, and I had just finished taking a shower when they showed up. I’m helping friend pack stuff, and Roommate walks in the bathroom, and she yells “THERE’S A THONG ON THE FLOOR!”
I, of course have to yell “SORRY THAT’S MINE!” and run in there and grab it, while her mom (that I had just had to let in a couple of hours later, because she knocked on the window I was sitting in front of having an actual PG webcam session with a shirtless bear, and this was the 2nd time I’d ever met her) just giggled quietly.
I have the funniest friends.
Well, donkeybear, you always have such… interesting stories to tell.
I did come back to TVLand shortly after my last post. Everything is ok, but I’ll tell you, for such a math and engineering genius he can be a real dumbass at times. Allow me to give you a sample (not from last night, but it’s still a good one) of his consolation techniques. “Well, even if I did get back together with TheEx, I’d still want to be friends with you.” :smack: :smack: :smack: :dubious:
So anyways, yeah, that’s kinda how it goes sometimes.
Ok, so we’ll be off to chuch in about 2 hours. And, I’m certain that he’ll hate it because awhile back he described going to church with some other girl and what the place was like and how the people acted and, yep, sounded nearly identical to the church where we’re going. <insert evil grin here>
We just had breakfast which consisted of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. Blech. I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for them. I’ll jump in the shower in about an hour’s time and then it will be nonstop go go go! Church, then grocery shopping, then visiting my house with mother’s day gifts, then loading up a filing cabinet to bring back to TVLand, etc., etc… (lovely sentence, wasn’t that?)
:smack: But of course!
And, apparently, I cannot stay away for more than 7 hours or so. Just once, I wanna sleep in!!!
It’s raining, as promised. We’ll see how my container-planting inspiration levels are later in the day. Right now, I’m going off in search of brekkie and then I’ll do a bit of cleaning before it’s time to churchify.
Back in a bit. It’s inevitable. Did I mention I re-upped a few days ago? I did.
ETA: almost forgot. Don’t worry, donkeybear, there are night people and there are day people. And they pretty much stay that way all of their lives.
GT
I’m twenty-nine, and going to bed between eighty-thirty and nine-thirty. But it’s the kidlet’s fault.
((((Pie))))
I’m glad everyone enjoyed the link. I read it out loud to Mr. Lissar, and we were both crying with laughter by, “Dog (sadly):I was badly brought up. By people who starved me”.
Breakfast, and if by some miracle the baby naps until ten thirty or so, Mass.
Up, caffeinated, under the weather, off to work.
LiLi, I loved that link. That reminds me of Maggie Wonderbeagle:
Maggie: We are starving
Me: Eat your kibble and Milk-Bones
Maggie: :looks at bowl: That is dog food. We must stave to death.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Good morning!
We had a good time last night at Carraba’s. I had salmon, Mr Rebo had lasagna, and Dad had a steak. His steak came with two sides, but he said he just wanted one side, mashed potatoes. It came with TRIPLE mashed potatoes! We also shared an appetizer of crab cakes - yum!
I’m in the midst of making breakfast. Bacon and eggs and homefries - oh my! We do love our Sunday breakfasts.
We got a big ol’ thnderboomer about 4:30, but I went back to sleep. It’s nice and cool now - and the humidity has dropped once again.
Back to cooking… Later!
Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day!
I’m up and have started the coffee. The kids are out in the kitchen rustling up some grub. They told me to go back to bed, but I had to get up because my back just couldn’t take anymore.
In about three hours we’ll have to leave for my sister’s place. Although the sun is out (for now), it’s not exactly warm out. I hope it doesn’t rain like it did yesterday.
Well, that’s pretty much it. Back later.
Morning, all, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms around here!
Papa Tigs was kind and brought me coffee in bed this morning, so I lounged in bed for an extra half an hour with a book and the cat. It was lovely. I didn’t want to get up. But I have the house to myself now; Papa Tigs took the Idiots off to do some shopping (looking for some new pants for him) and they’ll probably make a stop at the Bestest Place Ever, aka the dog beach, on the way home. So I’ll have two damp, tired, happy pups to step over for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I still have that pile of work to finish; I made a good dent in it yesterday, fortunately, but it doesn’t get done just by wishing it would.
Loved, loved, loved that link, LiLi! It is so like our Idiots, I know Papa Tigs will adore it, too. Why are dogs so dumb?
It’s cool and gray and damp here; it’s just chilly enough that I’m getting really tempted to turn the heat on for a few minutes to take the chill off the house. Except I hate to turn the heat on in May, dammit! I’m in Merrylande, not up in the mountains like snowbunny! At least while we’re visiting there, if I get cold I can bundle up and blame it on my being a wussy lowlander.
Oh, and snowbunny, if you read this, your stuff arrives in Boise on Monday, so it’ll be there waiting for us when we go back to pick it up – probably Thursday, since we want to enjoy our drive up to the mountains Wednesday and get settled in and see some of the sights before borrowing SIL’s truck and turning around and going to work. Just so you know the schedule.
More caffeine. That’s what I need.
I’m all hot and sweaty, and not for a good reason. We just sorta organized the garage, then unloaded the van and trailer. But not before *someone * backed the trailer up a slope and didn’t chock it, so the corner of the trailer punched a hole in the back door of the van. How can someone so smart be so dumb at the same time??
Still, we can now park both vehicles in the garage, although it’s tight. And just before we started, I got my Mom’s Day call from my kid. They were checking out of their suite and heading out for breakfast before returning to Orlando. They’ve got a full week booked, so they won’t get here till next Sunday. That gives me a week to organize some of the crap we just dumped into the spare room.
The rest of my day will be spent doing a little laundry and remaking my bed, without the electric mattress pad. Spring is here, although it dropped into the 40s last night and the heat actually came on this morning. I had a lousy night - woke up at 5, coughing my lungs up, but I did fall back to sleep till just after 7, so there’s that.
I’ll go back to work tomorrow, but I don’t think I’ll be back to health. Stoopit cold.
I just planted some periwinkles around the birdbath. White and pink and purty! ![]()
Purty flahrs Rebo!
Another kinda busy day at work and I am now enjoying a beerverage before bedtime, while hubby watches some silly Vampire Bats horror movie, starring Lucy Lawless with a really bad 'Murkin accent!
Happy Mothers’ Day, all!!!
Carry on …
THere was a miracle. Nat slept exactly the right amount of time, and we went to Mass. He’s never ever slept for two hours in the morning, and he woke up right when we had to go. Weird. And awesome.
That was a good Mothers’ Day present, little one.
Oh, so sleepy.
Good evening, Mumpers!
I have had a very pleasant weekend - Friday night I met a friend after work, we went out for pizza then headed to the Pitcher and Piano up by the canal to sit outside with a bottle of wine and generally be Grumpy Old Women.
Saturday was pamper day at a local spa so that was spent with seven friends, gossiping about all and sundry. In the swimming pool. In the sauna. In the steam room. In the outdoor hot tub. Throw in a yummy buffet lunch and more gossiping, and you’ve got a perfect girly day out.
Today I have made up for the laziness by doing the grocery shopping, washing the car, doing two loads of laundry, putting the tent up outside and washing it, and cleaning two of the groundsheet bits. Now to cook dinner!
Blurf.
I did not enjoy waking up at 7am so I could haul my ass into work this morning. Not one bit. Hell, even the subway isn’t awake at that time on a Sunday (lousy buggers get to sleep in until 9am, they do… unlike us non-union shlubs).
I’m scheduled through to 7pm in the War Room (which is not nearly as glamourous and exciting as its title would make it seem), and then get to enjoy a lovely 2-3 hr long commute home on public transit.
Thank god for good books. I’m halfway through devouring Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - highly recommended, it’s fantastically well written, albeit somewhat schizophrenic in its style.
Love your birdbath, Rebo. I want one, but I think it would swiftly turn into a dead-leaf-and-pine-needle bath.
