Ooooh, looky, it's the second annual springy MMP!

My nap was a failure as well. One of my roommates decided that now was the perfect time to play smooth jazz at high volume. I tried blocking it out with earplugs but to no avail. Oh well, I can sleep tomorrow.

chaoticbear, I didn’t think you sounded spoiled at all. A tiny part of me was kind of secretly hoping for a car too, even though I know my family can’t possibly afford it. An especially dumb hope considering the fact that I am actually giving my dad my current vehicle at the end of the month. Mine won’t survive the move to Nashville with the shape it’s in, and my dad doesn’t have a car right now, so I figure it’s best just to give the clunker to him.

rosie, maybe Smokey is trying to tell you that your Mother’s Day gift will be cat-flavoured.

Well, dinner was not exactly stellar. The chicken, while wonderful-smelling, tasted ok. The rice was a COMPLETE disaster. I was trying to be cheap and bought buillon cubes instead of broth or stock which would have been ok except that they were low-sodium. Then I put in way too much lemon juice and after that I couldn’t find any salt. So, all in all, the rice was way too tart. Almost forgot, I also tried to correct this with parmesan cheese but there wasn’t enough parmesan in the world, so I ended up with a huge pile of rice in the garbage. :frowning:

In laws coming over to celebrate #2 son’s birthday. Then I get to practice my guitar. Yay!

Seems like a slow night here on the Dope…

Slow indeed. I’m considering going to bed but I don’t feel like sleeping away 14 hours of a Saturday is a very productive thing to do.

I’ll be going to bed soon, but then I’ve been up since 5, so I’m tired, and still a little sick. So I need sleep.

Well, boo…it sure sounded good, Pie.

Congrats to pepper on her graduation! Sorry for the lack of car. What are you doing next? (I think you’ve said it before, but I’ve forgotten.

And what about you, bonkeydear?

And congrats in advance on yours, rigs. I can’t believe you’re done. It doesn’t seem that long ago that you were applying and we were all crossing various appendages for you to get in.

Nice pics, FCM. I see you took our advice and wore jewelry. The dress suited you perfectly. And the bride and groom looked just as happy as they ought to. (Except maybe in the post-cake-smoosh picture. ) Glad you’re starting to feel better.

Is there an internet shortage? Seems that several Mumpers have been experiencing lack of internet. I hate it when that happens.

18 azaleas???   That’s a lot.

I believe the baby is getting you lots and lots of attention, LiLi.

Hi Dotty! Glad the bloodwork was normal.

I was in the garden until about 6:00 p.m. Got lots done. I planted a new butterfly bush, two miniature monardas, 2 crocosmias (they’re extremely cool once they’re established), one poppy and my mandevilla. Also cleared out another section next to the garage. And started to take down another one of my shrubs. Oh, and I mowed the lawn.

Tomorrow, if the weather holds out, I’m going to divide some hostas. I have some giant blue hostas that really need to move - they’re getting in their own way. I’ll probably move some more daylilies, too.

I went for a nice walk to cool down and now I’m considering what to do with my evening. Suggestions? It’ll probably be something exciting like put clothes away.

Hope everyone’s having a lovely Saturday.

The high-volume smooth jazz has finally stopped, so theoretically I could nap now. But I know that the minute I manage to fall asleep, my friends will call to tell me where we’re meeting up tonight. Now I’m so tired that I really don’t feel like going out anymore. But this is probably the last time I’m going to see most of them, so I feel compelled to make the effort.

Maybe a little Guitar Hero will get me all revved up and ready to party.

Oops, somehow I missed your post, gt. I’m taking the next year off before grad school and I’m moving to Nashville at the end of the month. I’m going to be staying with my brother until I can find an apartment, which is very cool because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen him. 95% of the reason I’m moving there in particular is so that I can reconnect with him and be the cool aunt for his adorable babies. My brother let me know last week that he’s pretty much locked down a job for me once I get there, but I don’t want to get too excited about it just yet because it won’t be 100% certain until I actually get to TN.

I’m waiting until June when the people at pharmacy school tell me why they didn’t accept me, and then doing whatever it is they tell me to do so I can apply for next year.

I’m easy like that.

This is really, really funny. http://littera-abactor.livejournal.com/7748.html

Dammit, the baby just woke up. He went to sleep on his own, though! For an hour! At bedtime! But Mr. Lissar just slammed the door, and he woke up… sigh.

Thanks for the link, Li-Li, I needed a good laugh. All I can say about this evening is that I now understand why one of his exes used to throw things at him and hit him… No, I wouldn’t do it, but I understand where she was coming from. Currently I am sitting in the parking lot at WalMart. I guess i’ll go back eventually.

Missed the edit window… Guess I’d better go back before the ice cream melts. Don’t want to ruin perfectly good ice cream!

I almost started a new thread for this question, but was somewhat embarrassed to put my name to it. So I’ll ask here: What does it say about me that I watched a show today that had advertisements for waitresses to work at Hooters?

Ok, so I have a question. Do any of you remember high school senior finals? I do. They involved a #2 pencil, filling in bubbles and remembering that if in doubt, choose option “c”.

Daughter has to make a brioche for her French final. And she has to go to the zoo for her Environmental Science final.

seriously, she is in the kitchen going through a practice run of her brioche. wtf?

It’s 9:30pm. Why am I so frakkin’ sleepy?

Oh right. I spent all afternoon in the garden.

We’re now the proud owners of three new bushes - a purpleleaf sandcherry, a goldflame spirea, and a wee little Japanese juniper, which we’ve grouped together in a nice little arrangement near the front of the house. I also put a bunch of summer bulbs in the beds, planted my little tomater seedlings, and set up another planter for string beans we’re growing from seed (green bush ones and yellow climbing ones). Whilst I was doing that, The Boy demolished some more dandelions and dug out the roots for the Evil Climbing Vine Thing That Won’t Die - I’d like to see it try to come back after THAT. Ha.

Yay for all the grads. Sorry no cars were forthcoming.

gt, those crocosmias are stunning. I don’t think they’d do too well up here in the frozen northlands, though. :frowning:

Cute link, LiLi. I think that dog must have been reincarnated in feline form at some point, because Ariel pulls stunts like that all the time. In fact, she’s been known to swipe food right off your plate if you’re not paying attention at dinnertime. She’s a devious one.

rigs my email is in the profile if you want to send me a piece of that brioche…

what has happened to me? halfway through dinner, I lost all energy (so did friend K, altho friend P was still rarin’ to go) Friend K has health issues similar to mine, so when I saw her starting to fade, I knew exactly how she felt (never mind the fact that she didn’t get home from a concert until 2am and was up at 7 - at least I got a full night’s sleep) so we agreed to put Karaoke off until another night - and lamented the fact that we coiuldn’t find a place tha starts it earlier in the evening… :stuck_out_tongue: What, I repeat, has happened to me?

I’ll take some brioche, too. I’m sure I can judge whether it’s likely to get her a good grade.

What has happened to you, rosie, is that you have developed a maximum amount of time that you can be away from the MMP. Once you hit the max, you are forced to return to see what has been posted since you left. It’s really quite simple.

Sorry about the drama, Pie. Hope things clear up. Hugs.

Yeah, crocosmias, when they’re planted in the right place, are absolutely amazing. I hope they like where I’ve put them. Might need to move a few plants once they get bigger.

I should be sleepy by now. Why aren’t I?

Guess I’ll make a list of what I’m doing tomorrow. Or something.

GT

i’m not used to having more than one day off in the same week, so having 5 in a row is kind of crazy. I have been freaking out all day today thinking I have to be to work tomorrow, and why did I sleep so late today and why am I staying up so late! But I don’t have to be back at Monday. (although it really isn’t a big deal, I don’t have to be in until noon.
