Ooooh, looky, it's the second annual springy MMP!

Thanks, Haze. Kittehs make everything better.

Well… that and an XL coffee and food and a smoke. I realised around 11:30 that I hadn’t had a thing to eat or drink since I stepped into the office. Low blood sugar makes me cranky, which is the last thing I should be today. I shouldn’t have had a cigarette, but I feel much much better now that I’ve had one.

No, no, not that kind of “pink elephant.” Sheesh. You lot will turn anything into some kind of sexual innuendo.

Whew, it’s been a busy morning. Took Olive to the vet for her rabies shot, then stopped by the garden center and secretly laughed while fellow shoppers looked around in vain for the source of the plaintive meowing noise. I cleaned up my windowsill porch real nice. (I really don’t know what to call the area - it’s too small to be a proper porch, but it’s too wide to be a windowsill.

Olive helping out

I had my doubts as to going through all the trouble, since I’m moving out so soon, but my hands were itching for some gardening to do now that the weather’s warm. And it looks so nice!

Off to exercise my constitutional rights. That’s right, I’m hitting the bookstores!

The same guy who called me last night just called again. Next time I’m getting to the phone before it stops ringing. (Havent’ been answering right now because I don’t want to talk to Hillary or Obama.)

I’ve tempted fate. I had the nice guys take my snow tires off my car, and I put my hats and gloves and whatnot away, and broke out a few of my warmer-weather shirts. Watch it decide to snow again. It’s not supposed to, but the weather here can be a mite bit unpredictable sometimes. The next person who tells me they’ve seen snow here in July is going to be in serious trouble!

Very pretty! Much better than a rotting pumpkin.

(Olive makes a nice kitteh ornament.)

Well, my day is progressing. Hair successfully cut; Kong successfully thrown; work, alas, is the part that hasn’t been going too well thus far. (I just typed “to weel,” which may give you an idea of the depth of my I-don’t-give-a-shit today!)

Anyway, I have computer glasses, Pugs; I’ve been using them for about 15 years now, and you’ll never get me to go back to using regular bifocals at the computer. They definitely help the ol’ eyes.

Olive looks like a very helpful gardening assistant, Haze!

Back to work. I guess. :frowning:

Purty flowers, Haze. I love those yellow daisies… I need me a bunch of those for the front yard, I think.

One more hour to go. Just one more hour. Og give me patience.

Awwwwww! For some reason the expression on her face made me laugh.

We’re off with Driving Husband tomorrow to buy a vacuum! A Dyson! The bill will make me faint!

Plus more groceries. Maybe I should let the baby pick to groceries. When I do it, we seem to end up with ice cream and pastry.

So will the sight of all the crud it pulls out of your carpets! I guarantee you’ll say “EEEWWWW!”

However, for as wonderful as a Dyson can be on the wide-open fields of carpet, they’re useless at getting under most furniture. We haul out the ancient Electrolux “Model G” canister vac with its power head that’s only about two inches thick to get under the couch, bed and bookscases.

Yay for the Dyson, LiLi! I love mine!

I’m trying to decide what to get for Mom for Mother’s Day. Right now it’s between these flowers and this junk food. (OK, so it’s nicer than junk food, but I’m not sure what else to call it!)

Part 1 - just to shut you people up! :stuck_out_tongue:

My last post last week was less than happy – I was aggravated at the kids for a variety of things that I’m not going to go into. That was Thursday. On Friday, the groom-to-be was dealing with some stuff elsewhere, so the three of us continued packing, sorting, and tossing stuff. Daughter got rid of the Goodwill stuff and picked up her dress so I could iron it. I also ironed my dress and the veil. **FCD ** was cramming more than I thought possible into the van. He also decorated the groom’s cake, with one minor mishap – he dropped one of the icing tubes in the middle of the cake and smooshed the frosting. But he mostly hid it.

His folks arrived late that afternoon, and my wonderful MIL brought sammich makings so we didn’t have to go out to eat. She also helped me cut up veggies and clean up the kitchen. We gave her most of the food left in the fridge and the pantry, since there was no way we could bring it all back with us and she could make use if it, so yay!

Saturday, we were up bright and early to grab breakfast before heading over to the UCF arena for graduation. We got in there before 8 for a graduation that wasn’t scheduled till 9. But we did get great seats – the graduates walked across the stage towards us. They weren’t lined up in any order, and we didn’t see our kid process in, so we had to pay attention to make sure we’d see her.

I couldn’t believe it but as some people saw their grads, they got up and left. I had visions of idiots in the rows in front of us standing to let people out and making us miss our kid. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. The big-mouthed idiot next to me, who made at least 4 phone calls during the ceremony, was standing to leave just before her name was called, but something kept him in place till we got to watch her walk across the stage. So we sat there for about 3 hours for a 5-6 second stroll. And our baby is a graduate. And no pics - I forgot my camera. Boo.

After the ceremony, we went home and got comfy, then went to Smoky Bones for lunch. Afterwards, we had some time to continue packing and cleaning before going to the rehearsal.

Since we didn’t pay for the venue for a rehearsal, we paced it out in the back yard of the Mrs. of Honor (she didn’t want to be called a Matron) to get our timing matched to the music. They chose an approach I’d never seen before, but it worked out well. First the mother of the groom entered, then I came in, then the groomsmen, the groom, the bridesmaids, and the bride with FCD. There was one song for the mothers and the guys, then another for the wimmins, and they were well-chosen. We did about 4 or 5 run-thrus before declaring that we had it nailed and heading back home to dress for the rehearsal dinner.

The dinner was held in a Greek restaurant (The Olympia on Colonial, for you Orlandoans) and turns out we were the last to arrive, even tho we were there before the announced start time. Over the course of the evening, there were 3 belly dancers who dragged various and sundry patrons to dance with them. No, I did not get dragged, which is a good thing – I was too tired and in a semi-party-poopy mood. I did wander about and chat up my kid’s future inlaws. I also talked with my daughter a bit – we had a few issues to iron out, and we did. My FIL was hurting, so we left after a couple of hours.

Wedding tale next. Later. When I write it up and upload the pics.

Looks like a fun party, Mooommmm.

Looking forward to the rest of the story.

LiLi, think of it as working your way up slowly to a Miele dishwasher. That bill made me slightly queasy, but after handing over a certified cheque for a down payment that has 5 digits on it (plus two more for the cents), you find yourself becoming immune to such things.

Which reminds me, I need to do a load of dishes and vaccuum tonight. Assuming I don’t collapse into an exhausted heap as soon as I walk in the door, that is, in which case The Boy will have to pick up the slack. Chicken burgers and salad for dinner tonight, methinks… I want something low-maintenance.

FCM, the Minnie Mouse ears on the goils are a nice touch.

Oooh, let me slide in between FCM’s graduation/wedding tale. Which sounds & looks like a great time, btw.

Two down, three to go. The weather is beautiful, pollen count isn’t as high today, fortunately. I’m hanging in there, with much encouragement from family & friends. Thanks!

My son is on his way home, he should get in around 8 or so this evening. Coming from Little Rock, AR, btw. I’ll be glad to see him (haven’t seen him since early January!), but I don’t know what his plans are for the summer.

Gee, weddings sound like a lot of work. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m bored enough to tag along with That Guy and Minister’s Lad to watch a baseball game. (I don’t even know who’s playing, upon reflection.) I enjoy baseball well enough, I suppose. At least the game is easy to follow. I was a bit reluctant only because I wondered if they wanted it to be a “guy thing,” but I figure if that were so they wouldn’t have invited me in the first place. So they’re stuck with me whether they like it or not.

I don’t have carpets, partly because a carpet, two cats, no working vacuum cleaner=bad idea. Thankfully, a lot of my furniture is easily movable. I’ll try it out tomorrow and schedule heavy cleaning for Saturday.

I’ve got a… thing… in the oven. I’ve layered sliced celery root, sweet potatoes, rosemary, and potatoes in a dish, and put heavy cream and chicken stock in. It’s baking. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

For one crazy moment I thought you meant you were pregnant again. So soon!

I saw the ad for the Dyson last night while watching House. It looked like it might be sentinent.
