Out With the Old, In With the New, Happy New Year! MMP

My coughing continues. I shall apply some amaretto therapy…

I am going to murder the spellings and all since I am also watching football and semi-drunk (more on that later) posting but ------ there was a convent that had some sort of TV show and had a novice getting ready for becoming a full-fledged nun but ------- no-one had any idea what her nun-name should be. So Mother Superior decided to call on the viewing audience. I, and a lot of the country viewing, voted for “Kunegunda”. For an (at the time) Old Believer watching a Papist show it just felt right.

On the semi-------- I didn’t have anything really aged at all and the Vikings are playing tomorrow (I am not very hopeful) so I fired over the Pyrex. Think push-processing but mixed with iced-tea (all I had to work with) it ain’t half bad even if I do say so myself. Well, we are talking Beefalo vs Texicans - its a fair test lab.

Uncle Andy gave me a .460 I still have ---------- but I’m more the short .69 belt pistol type loaded with some chain shot (piano wire with .380RBs on each end and swan-shot) kind myself.

Damn ---- I just had to add Vorlon on to the reply. :smack:

Well, frick. Thought I’d make rice in new Instant Pot. That’s easy, right? Forgot to flip lever to Sealing and didn’t realize it until a couple minutes into the cooking process. No problem, site said, just cancel the cook time, flip the lever, and re-set cook time. So I did.

About a minute later, “BURN” showed up on the display. I’m assuming too much vapor escaped the first time, and the rice started burning. I’m supposed to release pressure, but I’m afraid that will result in smoke that’ll set off the smoke alarm. I’ve had two BAAAAD experiences with smoke in the past, one of which was a fluke. The smoke alarm, by the way, is loud enough to be heard by every other apartment in the building.

Nope. Not releasing pressure. I may just let it sit until hell freezes over. Good thing I didn’t become a firefighter.

Dinner was good. I had a very nice Cobb salad, and two Kulshan IPAs. Mrs. L.A. had clam chowder, a dinner salad, and two glasses of Riesling. There didn’t seem to be potatoes, or at least too many potatoes in the chowder, which was good. I was a little disappointed they didn’t have any DOM Bénédictine or Peychaud bitters. I really wanted a Vieux Carré.

Tomorrow we’re planning on going to a Greek restaurant for brunch.

Groceries are bought and put away, the bed made and two books for the heathen children purchased. I buy more kids’ books in hard copy than I do for myself these days. Kindle on the tablet is convenient as hell to take with you.

I have said this before but -------- way back in 2014 when I first entered Da jungle I handled all these boxes marked Instant Pot. I’m in my 60s and we have operations in Colorado so I figured --------
PS – What a helluva game. And pure alcohol didn’t hurt either.

That is after spellcheck. Before looked more like Wjat a helkuva game. And piure alxihol didn’tt hert uther.

FCD wants to do a cruise next month. I found a cheap one out of Baltimore on the 20th. He’s got a meeting on Tuesday and if the schedule will allow, I will book it. It’s a cruise we’ve already done but if we never leave the ship, that’s fine. So we shall see.

Kinda hard to beat $469 for 8 nights.

It rained. Then it didn’t. Then it rained again. I went and watched a friend’s Rec League team championship. His team lost, but he got an assist, and only fell down 3 times, so he has that going for him. Which is nice.

12 pound Napoleon with grapeshot.

After the Polish slalom canoeist?

So you’re taking out their rigging, so you can board and bring them to the prize court?

 Although that’s how I spell when I’m not drinking.:dubious:

Yeah, you probably call a magazine a clip.

You’ve seen me drunker than I am and can attest ------ I am a very sedate drunk. Its that inbetween stage that -------

But I actually do keep a couple .69 smooth bore pistols loaded with piano wire and swan shot next to the bed; a total of 2 ounce load. My general instructions to the OW -------- you hear something around the landing, point down the stairs and pull the trigger. Anything on that quarter of the first floor isn’t a threat after that. That combined with the .30 carbine pistol ------ there are a lot of houses around me you are better off trying to break into. And I have mentioned that I keep my collection of meat cleavers in the bedroom, right?

Now the swivel gun ------ that is for the rigging. Two words – bar shot.

And since the Patriots travel with .75 muskets for their fans -------- GO TITANS!!!

A late friend and pastor was a Titans fan so I picked them)

Hey – I do live at Three Rivers after all. You never know when Cincy will decide to attack,

Evening all. Soccer has been completed, refereed about 3.5 hours so legs are tired. Had a Wendy’s Triple since up until then I had eaten only 2 bowls of Cocoa Krispies all day.

At least the rain has gone away, but it took the 60F weather with it, down in the 40’s today and below freezing tonight.

Read but did not necessarily absorb much, so a generic happy/sad/interested me to all of you.

My former company is not very bright. I retired on the 31st, and I have had two calls from them so far-The first was a request to come in on a half hours notice to do a shift, and I broke the news that I was no longer an employee but if they wanted to hire me as an independent contractor my hourly rate is $25/hr. I got hung up on. This morning at 7am I got another phone call from them, demanding to know why I didn’t show up for work this morning. I calmly told that dispatcher to shove his schedule up his ass and hung up.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall when he reports me to management.

Your Independent Contractor rate is far too low, I would suggest multiplying it by 3 to start, three hour minimum billing.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 37 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 59 and N.O.S. for the day. Those temps are more Winter like for these parts. The big plan of the day is deheathenization (I have ush duty), followed by First Sunday brunch, followed by major sloth. Sounds like a great plan to me.

Czar I agree with Alien your rate is far too low. Also, ain’t retirement the best!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Broken night, but I still almost made it till 8 before getting up. Weird dreams included something about building an indoor arena, then later, I took up smoking a pipe. Maybe it was the Kahlua and Cream I had before bedtime??

Lots of blue sky and brightness out there, but cold. Still, it’s no longer dreary. And no idea what’s on today’s agenda, tho I expect **FCD **will watch some football. I should probably pull something out of the freezer for a real supper, since we all pretty much junked out last night. We’ll see how that goes.

Agree on the consult rates! $75-$100/hr minimum. If someone wants your expertise, they must pay!!!

Happy Sunday!!

Happy Sunday!

It’s a cloudy 36, feels like 27, degrees outside.
We have flurries.

Long underwear, heated socks, and toe warmers are great things.

Home from the park, the pups are settled in and sleeping.

Only thing in the agenda today is irk, and clean the vacuum cleaner.
There are other things that need doing, but nothing urgent.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and a load of clothes in the wash.

I actually had a dream that I remember last night. I dreamed that a friend’s teenage daughter was driving my mom’s '73 blue Olds 88 with my ex SO in the front with her and a bandmate of her father’s and the gnome that holds the tip jar with me in the back. We were going to Chattanooga to play a gig. Weird.

Unplanned chore - I cleaned the pellet stove. It was gross. Now it’s not. Go me!

Still coughing. Not amused.

Well, that was disturbing. I googled my username. Several of the links that came up were obviously copying content from the Dope, but when I picked them, the sites were pretty disgusting porn.:eek::eek: ick.

On the nicer side, there was a link to an MMP on my B-day in 2006 and, honestly, I don’t recall several of the things I posted. But it looks like it was also the first appearance of **kaiwik **as a Mumper, which was kinda cool. It was also a trek down memory lane - so many former Mumpers who have left the fold.

And on that note, I think I need to scrounge up some lunch.
