Pixie cuts on straight women. Why God Why?!

OH Nooooooo! But I work out! That’s manly, right?? :frowning:

Anne Hathaway’s haircut is beautiful; like others have said, it really shows off those stunning cheekbones and eyes.

OTOH, I really liked Michelle Williams’ dirty blonde, slightly messy hair from a few years ago (see Blue Valentine). But then I don’t care that much and I seriously doubt my opinion matters a jolt to her love life or her career.

TBF it’s not just straight men who do this weird fetishising. A gay male friend told me getting a short haircut was a depressing sign of getting old in a woman because it’s like you prioritise practical above all else. Actually my graduated bob is much higher maintenance than when I could just put it in a pony tail.

Let’s try to avoid using offensive terms like the last one there.

You’re hitting the “don’t be a jerk” rule close, knock it off.

Yep, you’ll always be able to spot me in a crowd … I’m the pretty one.

But this is an opportunity for you both as a couple! Have you ever seen those “choose your breakfast tomorrow” cards in a hospital? Well, create one with a similar format, but with a few changes…

Hmmm, I was thinking more along the lines of “Her style choices kill my boner.”

Not to be hurtful but, I generally think women look better with long hair.

I also think I look better with long hair. But, as a hetersexual guy I don’t wear it that way because other dudes can be judgemental. It’s hard to get that promotion when your boss thinks you’re a hippie freak weirdo.

So, yeah, ladies who would prefer a short haircut. I empathize. Sort of.

When I was a teenager growing out his first mullet my girlfriend at the time taught me how to take care of it so it wasn’t greasy, frizzy, matted or nasty. It gets ringlets when long if taken care of properly. I’m known for putting a few loose braids in it too.

I don’t care. I like it that way. But I can’t have it because other dudes judge.

I think I tend to get more attention from women with well tended long hair.

The day I’m self-sufficient and self-employed is the last day I have to deal with hair cutting.

He’s overweight with a neckbeard. Just the kind of guy that women think is attractive.

(Google his username. You’ll find his picture.)

I’m not trying to be snarky, but why do you care if other dudes “judge”?

You do realize there are dudes judging now, right? You could have the perfect haircut, and someone will be judging you negatively. Because people can’t help forming opinions and haters gonna hate.

Just like pixie cuts, male long hair can look good or bad depending on what else is going on. Confidence and grooming can go a long way to making a style work.

I had pixie cuts as a kid because 1) I chewed my hair once it got long enough, and 2) I have a very small face which hair can overwhelm quite easily unless I pull it back.

I had pixie cuts when I was older because I didn’t want to waste my time drying and/or styling it.

I haven’t had a pixie cut in years, mostly because I can’t afford the constant upkeep. My hair grows pretty quickly, so we’re talking a trim every 3-4 weeks. That’s $ that can go toward paying a monthly bill. I wear my hair pinned up most of the time because I don’t particularly desire to be Cousin Itt.

Whether any male in my life has liked my hairstyle or not has always been immaterial to me. My hair, my choice as to what to do with it. Don’t like it? It’s not your hair, is it?

Women judge too. I dislike long hair on guys. Also tattoos. But I don’t question their judgement or their aesthetics or their sexuality or their ability to hold a job (well, there are very questionable tattoos for some jobs :)). I assume guys who wear their hair long like it that way. I’ve known guys with long hair and tattoos who have been successful in corporate environments. I’ve known guys with long hair and tats who have had wonderful, successful loving relationships. I assume that guys who choose to wear long hair probably didn’t consider my preferences and frankly, probably don’t care what they are. They weren’t put on this earth for my viewing pleasure. And if a handsome guys wants to wear his hair long, it makes not more difference to me than if an ugly guy wants to wear his hair long. It isn’t really my business.

(I get an opinion on my husband’s hair and my son’s hair - not final say, but I do get an opinion).

OK, so there’re the objections on moral or political grounds.

But also. There is the fact that it’s called a pixie cut. It’s called that because of how whimsical and flitty and ephemeral it is. This is not what butch lesbians are like.

Since the OP hasn’t been seen in his thread since the first page, I wonder if he’ll show back and respond to any of the questions put to him or clarify his position. Has anything anyone has said in this thread he started made any impact?

Several young ladies I know have gone for pixie cuts so that they don’t get snot in their hair.

Very practical, especially when you’re a veryyoung lady!

Is that WKRP’s mini-Hitler?

One of the most gorgeous women to ever draw breath when she was young and bald was Sinead O’Conner, whose beauty was perfectly shown off by her lack of hair. And while she did end up living as a lesbian for the most part, she certainly didn’t look “dykey” at the time, she was exquisite andunmistakably feminine.

And while we’re at it, check out Natalie Portman buzzed… can’t imagine a lovelier woman.

Sigourney Weaver. If etv finds this look distasteful, I’ll take her.

Is Tinkerbell gay? This threads got me all confused.

It’ll go spiky sooner than if it was straighter. Depending on how much you two like spiky that’s an advantage or not.
I got a pixie cut a couple of years ago from a very cheap hairdresser and wish I could go back to her. Part of the reason I’m growing my hair back is that I’m currently working in Scandinavia and want to have better ear cover come winter, but part of it is that none of the later hairdressers has been able to put quite that much pizzaz into it. I looked GOOD damnit! Maybe if I give them more material to work with… :frowning:

Just came in to mention this was the last thread I read last night and I had a nightmare that my trim became a pixie cut that translates into “Ronald McDonald Fro” on my head.
Thanks!
