What do you think of this hairstyle?

:dubious:
Yeah boys, shift your eyes UP a little… that’s right…focus on Alyssa’s hair.
Jay Leno couldn’t help it, either.

So what do you think of this hairstyle on a female? Ladies, ever had (or have) your hair this short? Do you think it is too short? I have similar colouring and face-shape and was pondering whether to go for the cut. It’s either this or dyeing it some drastic colour. My hair is seriously pissing me off.

I think it looks cute on her, but I would never cut my hair this short. Reminds me too much of the times when illness and medication caused me to lose my hair, and it took forever to grow back.

I have never liked the short hair look on girls. Call me old fashioned.
The day I saw Natalie Portman sans hair I was genuinelly

But I have to wonder… does the fact that heterosexual women are generally appreciative of a head with short hair (because most men have short hair) influence their opinion of short hair on women/themselves? From this male perspective short hair is too masculine thus I don’t like it on women.

A woman at work shaved her head to raise money for charity. It has grown back to a length similar to the photo and she intends keeping it about that length because of all the positive comments. I personally like the look (I’m male) and figure if it doesn’t work it grows out pretty quick.

I think it’s an incredibly sexy look, provided the lady has the right size and shape of head to make it work. The problem with very short hair styles is that if you’re using your hair to frame or compliment the shape of the rest of your head, the shorter the hair is, the fewer options you have… if she had a big, ol’ fivehead like Tyra Banks, or a wider jaw, it wouldn’t look as good. You say you have a similar shape of face, I say go for it.

I wore my hair at about that length for about ten years, starting when I was in college – except mine was moussed and generally sticking up in all directions. Once in a while I would have some fun and put purple or pink coloring in it (I’m naturally medium-dark brown). It was amazingly easy to care for and I miss it a lot. But now that I’m older and there’s a little, er, more of me, I prefer to have more volume, and since my mother and her sisters all have beautiful silvery-white hair and my own grays are coming in with a vengeance, I’m hoping that genetics will be on my side and enable me to have my own long silvery mane.

Mr. S didn’t mind it, as long as I didn’t get it cut TOO short (I came close a few times). He liked that he could run his fingers through my hair and not mess it up, because it was supposed to be a messy look and I didn’t have it glued down with hairspray and junk.

It all depends on your body/face shape. If you’re built like her and have sharp facial features, it will look better. Only you can decide what to do with your hair, but don’t cut your hair because you think it will make you look like someone else. That never works. Good luck!

What hair?

Oooooh right, right. It’s nice. I usually like short hair much better on butch girls, but it’s cute. Very flattering on her. I don’t know if it’s something a lot of people could pull off, though.

I will tell you what I tell everyone though: Try it! It’s just freaking hair! If you hate it, it’ll grow back. I’ve done everything under the sun with mine, and it’s a lot of fun to play with.

Not my cup of tea. Nothing to drag them back to the cave by.

She looks good with it, though.

I dig short hair on a woman. Or a mohawk. Or a shaved head. HELL yeah!

I don’t like hair that short on a woman. Personally, I find it unattractive. I would never have my hair that short. The best thing I can about the picture is “Well, I suppose it could be worse…”

I did have my hair quite short in my younger days though. Never again!

Keep in mind not just head/face shape but also body shape. On a slender, short young woman, it’s cute in a gamine sort of way – on a more voluptuous woman, it can look okay – but if you’re plump or more, don’t do it, it’s really unflattering.

My daughter wears her hair almost exactly like that. It looks adorable on her. Doe is 18 and tiny – 4 foot 9, less than 100 pounds (we don’t know her exact weight because she can’t stand on a scale, but she wears a size 0), size 2 feet. She has a nicely shaped head and a sweet little face, so all-in-all a pixie haircut is a natural for her. In Doe’s case, it’s an especially good hairstyle choice because it’s extremely easy to care for. As recently as 2 years ago, her hair was quite long and it was a nightmare. Doe has CP and, although she is very self-sufficient, she had a hard time keeping up with long hair – she has some fine motor problems, especially when it comes to lifting her arms above her head and she had trouble getting all the shampoo out and getting it brushed and styled. I often had to help her, which she hates. With the pixie cut, she can take care of her hair 100% on her own and it still looks cute and stylish – not like a “disabled-person hairstyle.”

I think it looks great. When I’m thin, I like to wear my hair that short. Right now it’s a chin length bob. sigh.

Go for it. If you hate it, invest in a few hats until it grows back. I think it is a great style on the right woman.

I like it - I used to have my hair almost that short, when I was thinnner than I am now. Styles that short look better on people w/ small features, IMHO, so if you’ve got really prominant features you might want something a little longer. Something that short can be really unforgiving if you have a facial feature you don’t like.

Also, on heavier women, it can make their heads look too small for their bodies, though not always. It really depends on your proportions and features. I like short hair on women - to me, long hair only looks good if you have really great hair, otherwise it can just hang there and doesn’t have a lot of movement.

I’ve also had hair that short. It was slightly controversial in the little town I grew up in. I’d talk to a stylist about the shape of your face, head, and hairline. When your hair is short the hairline makes all the difference. If your hairline is not symmetrical, you have weird cowlicks, etc, it isn’t going to work. Avoid the femminazi buzz cut look.
Short is fun, low maintanance, you can color at will because the hair is cut off after a few months, hats fit better, people like to play with short spikes, you use much less shampoo.

It all depends on the person’s face. The picture you showed looks fabulous. But on the wrong head, that hairstyle would just accentuate the flaws.

Take my opinion for what it’s worth, but I think Ms. Milano looks great despite that hair style. I don’t find it to be particularly flattering to her, and it makes her look older than she is (around 31/32, IIRC).
