As a guy, I’ve found a whole workaround for the whole door thing. Just bury your head in your phone and pretend you don’t see anyone, then swing the door wide open and walk through, ignoring whether or not there was something to hold it open for. As long as you don’t make eye contact, they can’t give you the stinkeye and more importantly, you won’t feel bad about it
NOBODY GIVES YOU THE STINKEYE FOR OPENING A DOOR. It’s the tip of the fedora, the half-bow, and the “milady” that pisses people off.

I think “milady” might get you more of a slow backing away, but YMMV.

I am in no way sticking up for the fella in the pitting or this exchange, but I do think it is necessary to point out something.
As a young man, I was expressly told by my father, and had many fatherly talks about the fact, that a man cannot “have it all” and that you must find balance.
My father was the primary breadwinner, my mother was (in general) a stay at home mom who worked cottage industry to add money to the family. My dad left for work in the city at 530a to catch the bus and returned almost always at precisely 600p. We would promptly have dinner, play for a while and then bedtime at 830p or 900p.
When I got older, my pop opened up to me and told me that I cannot have it all. He was a great pop in those 2-3 hours each day and an awesome weekend dad, but he told me you just can’t have it all. You cannot be an awesome, always there for you Dad AND a devoted career man (at least you could not according to his bosses and for many other men and women who have demanding careers).
He wisely told me, you need to find a balance. The more you work to earn for your family, many times means you also suffer as a father. It hurt my pop, the fact that he could not be there as much as he wanted. But, he ingrained in me that you cannot have it all.
I don’t care if it is men or women, but none of us can have it all. So, yes, good men have had good fathers talk to them about the fact they cannot have it all. It is not only women who are asked this question.
So, I agree. Women should not be the only one faced with this question. But, women who are faced with this question are not alone. Many men have to answer the question of what we value more… family or career? And, sometimes, the economy forces both sexes to abandon family for the sake of survival. Nonetheless, we all face the same question and it has the same pain and burden. One I face everyday, much like each of you.
That thread was just racist trolling “cleverly” disguised as MRA trolling, which is just slightly more acceptable to the PTB.
