Poetry in Motion - Today's MMP

Morning all. HRH is now a snot-factory, but otherwise perky as all get-out. Hubby is on my shit list this morning. He went out last night, didn’t leave the bar until 3am, got busted on the way home for running a traffic light, went to the police station and wandered in at 6am! Grrrrrrr!  Why does it feel like sometimes I’m the only grown-up in this house?

I checked facebook and Pie seems okay there - sent her a message so hopefully all will be okay.

Off to call my parents on skype. Later folks!

I HATE HUMID WEATHER!!!

just in case you didn’t realize that.

Nice!! I like it!

Mop, mop. ::grumble, mumble, grumble, mumble::

The day crew doesn’t have to do any work. Slackers!

waves Hi Roo!

Hey McUNE!! ~waving~

Pick up a mop. The day crew left a mess. . .again.

Sorry, but I ain’t mopping anything. I have been mopping snot from my daughter’s face non-stop all morning, so I think that’s enough sticky wet stuff for me for one day!

I’m too tired to mop but I’d be glad to fall down on the floor wearing a big fluffy towel and y’all can kick me all around the place… Getting ready for our first tourney in ten years is a bit of an adjustment. It’s really amazing, though, how much garb and equipment we A) HAVE and B) is still in good shape after all this time in storage.

The plans are all coming together, though, and we’ve finished the hunkerhauser game and the boffer swords we planned–any twelve year old with good toys at his first event will be quite popular. You’d think we planned it this way or something! :stuck_out_tongue:

We’ve decided to board SpaceDawg at the vet’s for the weekend because it’s become very apparent as we stop giving her the aspirin she’s been on just how much she’s been relying on it. She’s in a lot of pain, keeps getting herself stuck by lying down on her bad side and getting jammed against walls and suchlike. Then she hurts herself trying to get up and whines and cries, it’s really pitiful. She can’t start her new NSAIDs until the 27th at the earliest and she has to be pilled to get her painkillers. They’re opiate based and very bitter and she actually REFUSED FOOD  when we tried to hide the pills in it because it tasted bad to her. So now we have to empty out her glucosamine gelcap, tuck the painkillers inside the gelcap, then either smear it in bacon grease or put it in cheese, then tuck it down her throat to make sure she doesn’t bite down on it and find the yucky stuff. I just don’t feel good about leaving her alone so she’s going to go off and be spoiled by the vet staff–they think she’s a big old stinky teddy bear and she gets petted to a fare thee well over there. I think she’s gonna like it just fine…

Wow, I’m so tired I’m seeing double–I’m off to bed. G’night, y’all!

Is the big fluffy towel for padding? Personal Protection Equipment for the kicking? We wouldn’t kick you, though, but we can roll you over, like in that kidie game of rolling down a hill.

I got to work a bit early and checked my email. There was one from Mom, which I signed off with “I’ll talk you on Saturday, Saint Grandmother’s”. Saturday is St Anne and St Joachim, who are the parents of Our Lady, hence the grandparents of Jesus, and the patrons of grandparents and of the town where Mom and The Bros live, and where I grew up.

And then when the rest came in, one was missing because he’s flying down home - his grandfather died night before last :frowning: They got the news at 10pm, when they were heading home after their English lessons, and the girls were able to find him a tree-leg journey that will mean flying all day but being able to make it on time for the funeral.

Give your loved ones a hug for me and for my coworker, willya? And one for yourselves!

Hello all!

Busy busy busy here, photos soon.

Ta!

oooh, a drive-by from kai! Looking forward to the pics, and glad to know you’re okay.

Thanks, Dotty, for letting us know that CutiePie is at least around on facebook. Maybe she’s just taking a breather from SDMB - others have been known to do the same, from time to time. No names will be mentioned, of course.

Happy Thursday all. I’m up, caffeinating - yeah, really caffeine this time (LOL) although I’m running late for work. I had a headache when I woke up but am feeling better now. I have one thing to say: please check the label of tea when you buy it – that way, if you want regular tea -with- caffeine, you’ll be assured of getting it. Instead of “naturally decaffeinated.” GAH!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here too. Gotta get purtified for work soon and also need some brekkies.

Hugs, yays, boos, appropriate/inappropriate appendage crossin’, trout slaps etc as needed.

Later y’all!

ETA: First on six! WOOHOO!!!

Mornin’.

Big storms with wicked lightning yesterday, causing 3 different fires, one kid hit, and a stroke during the storm. Some excitement comes to Cottonfield County.

Today is the office summer cookout. 'Nuf said…

I got an email from **Pie ** saying that she was fine and thanks for asking. So she’s ok.

Also, got a comment on the Recipe Blog on the Nana’s Banana Bread recipe. Just thought I would share here since I’m too tired right now to read it and it seems like maybe it should be shared? I don’t know, lol. Anyway, here it is.

I’m too tired/lazy right now to look it all up.

Morning Mumpers! I’m up and caffeinated, off to work. Caniac SummerFest tonight.

Well it was the night crew that did the baby oil Slip 'n Slide outside of 304. You mess it, you mop it! :stuck_out_tongue:

:waves at kai:

Hope SpaceDawg enjoys the boarding, Aleq!

Hi McUne

Some night there, Vbob, we just had a few storms here.

Nothing in the news (yet) about a campus massacree down in Greenvegas. Spaz must be in restraints, or pickled…

Probably pickled.
Morning, everyone. Finally nailed the kid into bed, and mercifully he woke late and that makes me happy.

Today:
dishes
packing
fix Mr. Lissar’s gi
maybe run one load of laundry
garbage/litter/recycling
sweep
pick up cherries and freeze

I’m going to get a parent to watch Nat before we go so I can get most of it done regardless of naps or baby crankiness.

We’ve got to leave here before four to avoid JazzFest craziness.

Hey, thunder!

Oh, yeah- lock the cats out of the bedroom and pick up anything that looks even remotely like something Aerin might piss on.

Sorry about the mess, guys. We’ll clean up next time, promise.

Paying bills, getting contacts today (wahoo).

Seeing Melissa Ethridge in concert tomorrow at one of the casinos. We’re staying overnight- so we’ll be kid free for 24 hours.

I say pickled, too.

Good morning, all - Thursday. Is it Friday yet? Haven’t had my coffee.

This is turning out to be a really rough week. I hate not having a weekend to wind down, and for two weekends now we’ve been on the go.

Tomorrow they’re saying it’s good weather so I can ride my bike home, and then later he can drop me off to get my car. It’s rained all week, so far. Bleh.

Taxi, when are you going to serve the Mumpers with some of your delicious cake/pie?
Anyway hope everyone is doing OK. Back in a bit after coffee.

Good morning!

I’ve skimmed, and haven’t retained a thing as usual.

ReboSon came over last night to get on the computer (he doesn’t have one) and fill out applications for financial aid. :: beaming:: He’s really serious. I hate that I doubt him sometimes, it’s just his track record.

We had pot roast last night for dinner and it was the yum! I took about 15 minutes yesterday morning to put it together for the crockpot. I dredged it in seasoned flour, browned it up, and placed it on top of chunked carrots, onions and potatoes. Added red wine, a can of Campbell’s French Onion soup, and some chicken stock. Salt and pepper and garlic powder. OMG! So good. Oh yeah, when I got home I strained all the juice, and added a slurry of corn starch to it and made gravy.

Better get busy…
