Poetry in Motion - Today's MMP

Happy Caturday, Mumpers!

Mork - the exit interview is supposed to be your last chance to be brutally honest about the job, the people, the company, anything you want. The main thing is that they’re supposed to take away any negative comments (particularly those pointed towards management practices, company policies that are pointless etc) and see if there’s anything they can do about that so the person who takes over the job won’t run into the same brick walls.

So today I ventured into the Pit and joined in the mini-rants. I’ve got an apartment rental in Hungary next month which has been paid for via a company called moneybookers. They have a simple enough process - you set up an account, register the bank account/credit/debit card you’re using, upload funds from there to moneybookers and then pass them on to another moneybookers account holder.

Setting up the account was easy, I registered one bank account with them and nothing else. I uploaded funds for the deposit payment on the apartment. Moneybookers couldn’t find it. I swapped several emails with their customer services section and eventually had to send them a .jpg of a bank statement showing the withdrawal from my personal account. That sorted the problem out.

So now I go back to moneybookers to upload the balance payment for the apartment, again from the same account. Can I remind you this is the only account I registered to use with them, it is in my name and the moneybookers account is in my name.

I wait a couple of days for the transaction to go through - money’s left my bank account, and sure enough it turns up in my moneybookers account. Except that it hasn’t all turned up. I have a half-page long warning message in bright red text telling me that I’ve been fined for using a 3rd party account for payment. WTF?

I sent a message to them saying that I’d used my personal account to send funds and asked them to refund the charge and remove the warning - they’ve just been in touch to say that it’s a fine for using a 3rd party account. And they called me Mr.

I have Teh Grrrrr.

(((((Mumpers))))) - I think we could all use a hug and I haven’t had time to read everyone’s postings yet…

Saturday! No, not happy. I have been looking for the reset button since about 9:30am, which is about when HRH started whining and wouldn’t stop. Fed, changed, temperature checked (normal), futile attempts made at getting her to take some panadol, still whining, tried to put her down to sleep, desperate crying followed by vomiting ensued. I gave up and sat in the corner for a while, sobbing. :frowning: (Hubby was on “civil unrest” duty overnight again, until 6am so no relief from him). I finally gave up and took her over to MIL’s place. I was tearing my hair out and was no use to HRH, but lo’ as soon as we got there, HRH laid eyes on the housemaid and was happy as that proverbial Larry guy! I give up - whose dumb idea was it for me to be a mother? :smack: Ohhhh, that’s right - it was ME! Gaaahhhhhhh!!! I love her to bits, but a tired, sick mother and a grumpy, sick toddler are not a happy combination.

Sigh … I’m gonna go grocery shopping and eat something sickeningly unhealthy for lunch, then pick up HRH and inflict her on her father when he wakes up.

And Israel… and I’m sure Boo, Haze, Dotty, **Nava **and our Cannuck friends will be able to add Britain, Korea, Oz/UAE, Spain and Canada to the list.
It’s called “Actually looking at the wold around you.” And sadly, I’m afraid that there are far too many people (who are not represented here) who Just. Don’t. Do. That (to be fair, some don’t do the critical thinking bit. Some don’t do the patriotism bit. Both are just as bad as the other extreme, IMO.)

**Haze **-- ouch! Seems like a lot of us have had (mostly minor :knock on wood: ) personal injuries lately – what’s up with that?

**Boo **-- That’s ridiculous  Are these people a truly legit outfit (in which case telling them they better clean up their act or you’ll be reporting to the equivalent of the BBB there could get their ass in gear) or a fly-by-twilight operation? (in which case… I just hope things work out!)

OK, this made me giggle, thanks!

**rigs ** - re: living with in-laws, considering my parents did, FCD’s folks did, and for a very short time, he and I did, I can’t agree that it’s always a bad idea. In this case, it is a means to an end - we get to spend some time with our daughter, who has lived away for 4 years, they get to save up for their own place while they figure out where they really want to live, and they can avoid at least one newlywed stressor ($$) for a little while. I know that once daughter is back home for good and their apartment is ready, things will be lots better. We’ll all have privacy back, we’ll be able to relax, and **FCD ** and I can mostly get back into our old routines. This just happens to be an extremely stressful time for all of us for a variety of reasons.

And we did set a time limit, which doesn’t worry me, either. I know they want their own space. Heck, they may not even want to live in Merrylande much longer. We shall see.

So, yeah, I’m up. I waited for SIL to get home last night and I told him flat-out what was bothering me. He looked scared - I’m pretty sure he knows I was not happy. And he apoligized repeatedly. I expect I’ll find out exactly what those apologies are worth.

**FCD ** and I are taking the morning off from construction. We have to go check on the boat - it’s been weeks since we’ve been there. And we have to pay the guys who gave us the insurance estimate for repairing the bow pulpit - at least that comes out of the deductible. And since we’ll be down there around retail land, I need to get some dog food and some inserts for my shoes - mebbe that’s part of why my feet hurt so much when we work on the concrete floor…

After we get home, it’s back to work. And, alas, I’m afraid I’ll have to close the house up again. It’s been mild enough that I’ve had windows open for 2 days and nights running, but heat and humidity returneth. At least the place has been aired out somewhat. I’m hoping in another month or so, we can return to open windows. I loves me some fresh air.

But for now, I need to brush my teeth and find something to wear. I don’t think I want to go to breakfast in a robe and flip-flops. Especially a green robe and pink flip-flops. Mr. Swampington would just swoon in despair!

That would depend on where you’re goin’. That outfit would be considered formal wear at Waffle House.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! I’m up and caffienatin’. I had a really good night’s sleep. Yay!

Shadow yay on feelin’ better! Here’s hopin’ the vet figures out Skunk’s problem, poor kitty.

Dotty I hope HRH and you are doin’ better.

Other than this afternoon’s soiree I don’t know of any other plans. That’s fine by me. Slugness sounds like a good idea this mornin’. Maybe I’ll make waffles for brekkies. Waffles and bacon. MMMMMMMM… That’d get ol’ y’all know who out of bed.

But first, I see Spaz is snarkin’ on the advice ladies again. I must go read.

Ok, I just finished readin’ Spaz’s latest snark. It is brilliant as is always the case. I have come to a conclusion. I am sure all you Mumpers will agree with it. After reading this comment from Spaz herself…

I have decided that all those advise columnists should just stop now and let Spaz take ‘em over. It would be all win-win. She would have a nice job earning I’m sure a very comfortable living doin’ sump’n she is oh so good at and we’d all be highly entertained on a daily basis. It’s a perfect plan, I tells ya, perfect!

Hugs…because they seem necessary all over the place. I’m up, already went to the grocery store and made some lovely whomp sweet rolls (orange, not cinnamon, thankyewverymuch) at nephew’s request. Need to water plants then it’s off for a morning of admiring gardens and then back to hang out with brother, niece and nephew. We’re going to see David Sanborn tonight at the local jazz festival. Should be a fun day…as long as it doesn’t rain…

Happy Saturday, all.

GT

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

Hi
humidity not horrific today - I might actually accomplish something (then again, I might just go back to sleep because as I type this I stop every other word to yawn) what-ev’

hope all y’all’s Saturday is a pleasant one

laterz

I’m eating a quick breakfast of toasted cheese and juice - then I’m taking the mutts to the park. Hopefully I won’t get run over this time. My foot is still a little sore!

Hugs, boos and yays, y’all… MWAH!

Rebo - have you ever thought of adding up all the scores of all the layers over the last several fueds and seeing who has the highest cumulative score?

Hi Roo! The concert was great!

And now I know how you feel-- utterly ignored by Nooner, sigh

Do we need a support group?

I have been party to somewhat of a miracle this mornin’. After I made brekkies, we got purtified and went to get haircuts and to brave WallyWorld for a few needed items. We got our haircuts time we walked in the door. I figured on havin’ to hang around for about an hour to get a haircut bein’ as this is Satiddy and all. Then we went into WallyWorld (both places are in the same shoppin’ center) and we were in and out of there in fifteen minutes!

Seriously it was just over an hour from the time we left da cave til we got back again.

I say this calls for a drink. Or a nap.

Except I don’t use language that’s fit for either The Children or a Family Newspaper. It’s more fun to watch Abby and the Annies mess up and then go in to show them how they screwed the pooch. I’m a consultant.

Ms Amy Dickinson can snark just fine on her own, but she gets fun letters. Dan Savage I won’t touch because he’d shred me. Dude’s got claws.

Good morning everyone. We’re up and waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.

Pretty soon, I’ll have to get purtified so I can take my daughter to the credit union to deposit her first paycheck. Actually, she received two, one for the previous week, and one for last week. So, she’s got a little over $200.00 to deposit. Next week’s check should be bigger because they’re definitely loading her up with the hours.

Poor thing, she’s stuck on the closing shift today, tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Saturday too, I think. She’s not overly pleased to be losing her weekends, and less pleased about having to work until 11:00 every night.

I told her to hang in there. Hopefully, once she gains a little seniority, she won’t be stuck on those shifts. I hope so anyway, because it’s me picking her up that late.

Ah, coffee is done. Maybe now I can wake up a little more.

**FCM, ** I’d be curious to see if SiL takes what you told him to heart and does something to correct what he’s been doing wrong.

Uh…wow…I’ve killed the MMP.

It occurred to me, yes, but then it sounded like a lot of work! I don’t keep all the old scores, and I’d have to go through all the threads.

Are you volunteering?

Nah - I was just waiting to be first on the next page, but it’s taking too long!

pbbbbbt, no,

(I hit submit too soon)

it was just a suggestion, and besides, we don’t always have the same players feud to feud so it wouldn’t be accurate unless you’d kept all the feud scores and were able to do an averge score of all feud each individual played

Setting you, or whoever is fastest, up for the next page
