I am something of a watch fan, but I can only rarely bring myself to buy anything over $100, and even that’s a stretch. I have a 15 year-old Movado I bought when I was working overseas and making too much money, and I recently bought a dressy ESQ tank watch. The only other “nice” watch I own is a Citizen Hyper Aqualand dive watch, and that was a gift. It’s just as well - if I got too much of a taste for expensive wristwatches, it would be very, very bad for our financial situation.

- Mine is a Casio solar digital sport-type, one of the ones that supposedly picks up a signal with the correct time once every 24 hours.
It was a gift, I didn’t like it at first but once I got used to wearing it it works well for me. It is no-maintenance and rugged. I have a nicer watch I wear for fancy occasions (which means I have worn it about 2 times). I don’t have a cell phone.

Some early results:
58 responses, 31 gentlemen and 27 ladies. That really surprises me. I figured many more men than women would be watch wearers.
A measley 5% of respondents wear their watches on the bottom (palm side) of their wrists.
A solid majority (59%) wear it above the wrist knob (styloid process!)
And snapping metal bands are the favorite, with anout 41% of us wearing one.
I’ll try to come up with something more interesting to say when I have some more time to look at the numbers. Until then, more input is always welcome.

I always wear a traditional Mickey Mouse watch. Nothing fancy just regular Mickey. I’m not particularly fond of Mickey or Disney, but I have been wearing a Mickey Mouse watch since I was about 13. I like to think it shows that I have a bit of fun with me even if I’m all dressed up.
**Also, I wear it on my right hand even though I’m right-handed. I do it because my dad wears it that way too. **

To be honest, I don’t wear a watch. I would, though, if I could remember to get a cheap-ass plastic watch from Walgreens. I love wearing a watch.

- Anything else you want to share?: I didn’t wear a watch ever until I started working in an office. In dress clothes I feel naked without a watch, like I am missing something fundemental. This started me looking into watches and I am now quite the fan of automatic mechanical watches. My dream is to someday have enough money that I can buy myself an Omega Seamaster. Right now I have better uses for $3,000.

I’m just too used to being able to glance at my wrist. **
