Poll: Betty or Veronica?

Somehow I was expecting something about “doggie style” first but that figured among my expected responses as well.

Nobody’s* all* bad. I did watch 1 episode before nopeing Riverdale. Veronica comes off a bit more sympathetic than she did in the old comics, plus she’s more my type physically. But I’m only going off the comics.

I’d like to amend that I’d only go for Betty if I were Archie. I’d be extremely put off by her pining for Archie all the time, even if she was with me, and I think she might do that.

As an aside, here’s a picture of the Riverdale cast.

The guy on the right is supposed to be Jughead. What. The. Hell.

They nailed the first 3 (guy even dyed his hair red), but now Jughead is Fonzie or something? Hell, even Fonzie looks more like Jughead than this guy.

Jughead is a skinny, sleepy-eyed, big nosed dork. This is horrible miscast, or bad wardrobe, or both. He would never go all James Dean like that.

In case anyone other than me wants to know who they are and what they look like.

They look like the exact same girl but with different hair. It would seem to me that it would simply boil down to whether one likes blondes or brunettes better.

Well, black hair pretty much is dark hair with bluish/cool highlights, or at least that’s the way I think of it, and one of the things that defines black hair from just very dark brown hair to me (dark brown hair has warm/reddish highlights.)

I don’t know anything about their personalities, but I’d go Veronica, too.

Yeah, 90% of DeCarlo’s teenage girls were identical aside from the hair and maybe, if he was feeling creative, a swipe of freckles. The other 10% he’d maybe give them a stub nose or they were the “fat one” with a different body type.

Yeah I always wondered why the Archie girls got the comma shaped nose tips, and Josie & co and Sabrina got the inverted u shaped nose tips.

Ya ever see the Flintstones?

A valid distinction I’d say.

You Americans have strange ideas about patriotism. Especially when your idea of patriotism demands a love of American icons by non-Americans.

Midge, even though Moose would kick my ass. Actually, in the later comics Big Ethel is not bad looking.

TBCF, Jughead did not have a nose so much as a face-penis, not unlike Zonker Harris. That sort of feature is hard to actually reproduce in a live-action person. At the very least, it looks like they gave him a sad parody of that odd crown hat he always wore, though.

From what I read here, it sounds like Riverdell is considerably edgier than the original comic books, so a little deviation from the expected appearances sounds ok.

OK, I voted Veronica in this poll, but if we’re using that particular real-life set of characters, I’m definitely a Betty fan.

The real reasons to prefer Betty (assuming Betty and Veronica as they were in the 1960s-vintage comics) were in how the two acted, rather than how they looked.

Um, I’m pretty sure that was a joke. I guess you have to be American to get it.

I don’t agree that they got any of them right, but especially not Archie. The hair is just so obviously fake. I cannot buy that he’s a redhead. Veronica doesn’t look rich enough, and Betty doesn’t look Girl Next Door enough. And, yes, Jughead looks off, though his clothing choices in the actual show are better–including the hat.

The real question is whether Mr. Weatherbee knows.

Mary Ann.

I am reminded of an old joke about how to tell the difference between Laverne and Shirley.

Laverne give a blowjob on the second date, Shirley never does.

Now that that is settled, can we have a poll for Daria v. Jane? Or Quinn, and the Fashion Club?

Were Daria and Jane supposed to be attractive? It’s difficult to tell with animated characters.
