So Moooom, which CSI are you playing at home?
(Hint, you must have 4" heels on for Miami)
Tattoo artists live for people like you. ![]()
Its a little tougher with us. So many are foreign nationals or English as a second language and the juvenile humor doesn’t always translate well. I won’t go into which joke but we did once actually break down and draw Magumba a picture to illustrate why the rest of us were laughing.
Oh ------- and this weekend to beautiful downtown Tipton Indiana for an Electric Amish concert. Even more-so than Knoebels (which we hit in two weeks) WOOHOO!!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Laundromat after work.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 96 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. TWPTB say no rain, so I fully expect a monsoon at some point.
Bug guy comes this mornin’ at eight to do his monthly thang, and then I shall go forth to the Pubic Sto’ to lay in provisions. Rah. I have a brisket with onions, baby N.O.T., and baby carrots ready to slow roast in the oven. Green vegetative matter tbd. Possibly asparagus if’n what’s in the sto’ looks good. Nummy sup this evenin’!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then I suppose I should purtify and don clothin’ appropriate to go about the public. Life is so hard!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
If I tried to wear 4" heels, it’d be CSI: TAKE ME TO THE ER RIGHT NOW!!!
I did walk around in the mostly-dark of this morning with the black light - that durned dog hiked his leg everywhere! I left a note telling daughter and SIL that we’re going to talk tonight. With luck, they’ll get it all done tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I’ve got stuff on my desk and I’ve begun caffeinating. Happy Wednesday!
Happy Hump Day!
Looks like it’s going to be another pretty day, N.O.S. and in the mid 80s.
SSDD
Mornin.
Could do with a bit o’ monsoon over here, it’s getting unnervingly dry. Some of the full size trees are starting to go all brown and crispy, and that’s not normal. It’s cloudy and a little cooler today at least.
Having a bit of a lazy start today, I should go do things, but I kind of just want to sit in and read. I do need to go to fud shopping and I should probably finally get round to taking this tv/dvd player that was in the cupboard when I moved in to the recycling centre- I don’t like chucking out working electronics, but I’ve failed to even give it away, and it’s just taking up space.
I might bake some bread today; learning to bake a good loaf is one of my challenges to myself over the summer break. That will also give me an excuse to stay in while feeling productive.
Morning all. Laid down about 4pm yesterday for a nap and slept until 8:30pm, got up for a couple of hours and then went back to bed until 6am this morning. Hopefully that catches me up with my jet-lag.
Mowage and a couple of errands to run constitute the majority of activity today. Still waiting to get an estimate for the home remodeling I plan to do. Promised for this week.
Awake, packing and generally chilling. Weather looks good so I’m considering a bike for work. Will play it by ear until later.
Metal Mouse, what remodeling are you doing?
Got a little more sleep last night, but still feel like I’m going out of my skin. I can tell I’m coming down and now I dread the crash, especially since my husband’s brother and sister-in-law are coming to town for two weeks starting this weekend. I’m going to have to practically live at the in-laws house, all while dealing with the depressive crash of coming down from hypomania. Without showing it.
And while dealing with my husband’s sister-in-law who is a real chore. She’s constantly got a story about how her life sucks more than yours. She can’t eat most of the food in the world. “I’m fiber intolerant.” “I can’t eat turkey.” (But she eats chicken just fine.) “I can’t drink soda out of a can.” She can only eat certain brands of spaghetti sauce. Not that she can’t eat tomato sauce, but she can’t eat Ragu, but can eat Prego. The kicker: “I’m water intolerant.” Yes, she has said that. I wanted to shake her and say, “You do realize that your body is mostly water. That without water, you’ll die. That there’s water in the food you eat, the soda you drink from the bottle… everything.” And all they do when they visit is sit around watching TV. Like, let’s go do something. I can sit and watch TV at home in my pajamas. At least my MIL realizes how frustrating that is, so she’s making plans for the weekends for us to do things.
**Juliet **- your sister-in-law sounds like a real piece of work. Tho the “fiber intolerant” part might just explain why she’s full of… well, you know.
I have a sister who’s not quite as bad, but still quirky about food. Coke only, not Pepsi, Utz potato chips only, regular, not rippled. Canned veggies only, never fresh or frozen. Tomato soup is OK, as is tomato sauce, but ketchup? Tomatoes? Forget it. She spent a week traveling in Poland, and only ate at McDonalds. Plain burgers, as in meat on bread only. So, yeah, I feel your pain.
OK, back to work, tho I don’t have much on my desk all of a sudden.
My mother’s food ‘intolerances’ include ‘additives’. When questioned as to what that means, she doesn’t know either  The funny bit is, she’s got this big long list of stuff she won’t eat, but she absolutely won’t extend the same respect she demands for her diet to anyone else. She sometimes deliberately does fish for dinner when I go round, because she knows I’m vegetarian and don’t eat fish, but she thinks I should, so does something ‘special’ like baked salmon so she can guilt trip me in to eating it. When my bro’s vegan girlfriend came on holiday with us, Mum kept trying to feed her cheese…
TV recycling mission failed; eventually found the place (I’ve not been before), but it was temporarily shut while they emptied some things and moved other things, and there was a hyuuuge queue waiting for it to reopen. Hopefully I’ll get time tomorrow.
Josh came thru with some work - yay! But I’ve decided I’m taking off this Firday, since I missed my day off last Firday. The boss OK’d it, so yay!
Band name:Pus and Polyps. That’s what the ENT said my sinuses are filled with. I’m home with antibiotics and prednisone. No wonder I’ e been exhausted for a week.
Today we are to go to the mountains for 2 days. Hubby is still asleep though. I think we’ll be arriving late.
Happy Wednesday.
Good old Bay Area whiplash weather… Yesterday was so hot that I fired up the air conditioner in my office for the first time, and this morning, it was so cool that the furnace turned itself on.
Been wild and wooly around here for the past couple of weeks. Partner Without an Interesting SDMB Name was requestold to find another salon to work out of. Within a week, he found a new space that’s actually bigger and cheaper and only a block away from the other salon that just needed a serious facelift. One thing I learned is that 160 year old buildings are almost liquid in how their wood and plaster walls bend rather than crack when they settle over the course of decades. I also learned how to install shampoo bowls and to reupholster salon chairs.
I also learned what happens when a car that’s been misbehaving decides to spite its owner. The top half of the radiator splits open while we were looking to see if we could tell where the antifreeze smell was coming from. Partner gets a face full of steam and boiling coolant. Thankfully he was wearing eyeglasses! While we were washing the stuff off his face, the car was still running but with no coolant. Or at least it was running for most of the time while we were tending to the burns. On Monday, the car is being taken away by Kidney Kars or Kars for Kids. The body is still in good shape, at least, but the engine is lunched.
Sheesh, **gotti **- you can’t have a normal, calm life, can you?? Hope PWAISN is OK.
I needed a break - the last drawing I did was a real doozy, but it’s been sent off for checking and it’s so close to quit time, I can’t get too motivated.
Home, tahred, glad tomorrow’s my Firday. I think a long weekend is in order.
