Poopy shoes in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! We supped upon brisket, baby N.O.T., baby carrots, asparagus, and rolls. We’s stuffded. Plus, brisket, N.O.T., and carrots left for tomorrow’s sup. Win-Win!

gotti ::tacklehug:: Glad PWAISN is OK and found a new space.

ruble, wave to Tip for me.

Juliet, I have a sister with various food intolerances too. She has a degree in chemistry, so it doesn’t get as wild as your SIL, but it’s hard to cook around sometimes.

:tacklehug: Welcome back gotti! Glad PWAISN didn’t sustain worse damage.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and am kicking back after supper.

Heat index 108, once again too hot to ride my bike.
Over the years we had probably 20 cats that my kids brought home as kittens, but never took with when they moved out. Now down to none. We loved them but are happy to be litter box free for the first time in 25 years.

Worked, went to the laudromat. Had to cut Gordie’s walk short, it was so hot my asthma was acting up. Gor spicy hocney teriyaki chicken marinating.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:
but glad PWAISN is OK, and has a new salon.

Welcome! And congrats on being feline free ,at least as long as you want.

I petted the neighbourhood cat and the bandanna cat today. My roommate is allergic to cats, so we don’t have one at our place, but it’s nice that there are cats in the neighbourhood.

Have you posted a picture of the bandana cat?
CNN says about 70 Canadians died in the heat wave.

I’ll try to get a picture of the bandanna cat the next time I see it.

Yes, many died in the heat wave. I got sick myself. And there’ll be more extreme heat soon. Though I do have fans, so that’s good, I guess?

gotti, Glad PWAISN (and you) weren’t hurt, hot radiator fluid is no joke.

Midget, how hot as it been Canada way? (been out of touch for the last couple of weeks). Mowed the lawn in stages today, as temperature was about 90F (32C) and I had to take time out to cool down/drink water.

Nut, Juliet, FCM, I’m known as a finicky eater too, but just got back from China where I ate Duck, Dumpings, Chinese Hot Pot, and a few other things I’m probably best off not knowing what they were, so I’m doing better (of course, i also stopped at McD’s 3-4 times; they and KFC are allover the major cities in China).

Juliet, I am getting my kitchen and bathrooms re-done, new cabinets, countertops, tile, fixtures, etc. Going to be a sizeable bill, just hoping it fits my planned budget.

Have managed not to nap today, so I am hoping to get a good night’s sleep tonight and get my jet-lag completely over with. Spent an hour trying to get registered at the ‘new’ location on the web for my credit cards (why they can’t just transfer the information from my old site i do not know. They got it worked out, but haven’t e-mailed me the temporary password so I can access it–I suspect they copied it down wrong, so if I still haven;t got it by tomorrow morning I’ll call them again.

Recycling centre visit attempt 2 successful! Had a morning of Getting Round to Things I Put Off, which was starting to get a bit necessary. Not sure what to do with the rest of the day now.

Could go swimming, could go to some attraction I have a pass for before all the skools break up next week and everywhere gets crazy busy, or could stay in and slob again. Can’t decide.

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 96 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I foresee quality cee-mint pond time. Nuttin’ I absolutely must do on the agenda for the day which is fine by me. I can deal with sloth.

Time for more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Happy Thorsday!

It’s a cool 63 degrees outside. Not supposed to get too hot today so I think I’ll open the windows and turn off the AC.

I’m tired, up too early, thanks to the bladder.

Nothing special to do today, just irk and house irk.

Weird dreams last night of trying to find my way around the Purdue main campus, which also included a shipyard. If you look at a map of West Lafayette, IN, you’ll see the city is on the Wabash River, not a place where a ship could dock, let alone be refurbished. It was both confusing and disturbing.

Daughter and SIL vacuumed, took the trash and recycling, and cleaned their bathroom yesterday, without being asked! Guess maybe they are almost adults! Daughter was applying for a bunch of jobs, including at the USPS and one at the Navy base where I used to work. She also applied to be a bank teller and a photographer. She wasn’t kidding when she said she just didn’t want to teach any more and she’d do anything!

Today is my Firday - tomorrow, I’ll be cleaning carpets and upholstery that Taz peed on. Good times…

Happy Thursday!!

I am pleased to report a distinct lack of poopy shoes anywhere! That means the cats have found some other devious plan and I should be very worried about that.

There’s building work going on at the irk-place that involves asbestos removal, they’re also doing the building next door to ours so that is completely closed (the main door is sealed off) until September when they should have finished it. They’re doing seven rooms in our building, the doors are sealed with plastic and there are warning signs on them all, the guys have white zip-up suits and masks while they rip up the floors with whatever noisy bit of machinery they’ve got, and of course my hyperchondriac colleague is now convinced we’re all going to die from asbestosis.

This is, apparently, because someone she knew (or her parents knew, details are unclear) died of it. She will not listen to reason and understand that a couple of days of potential exposure to asbestos particles isn’t going to do her any harm, instead she’s having a nervie about being in the building while the work’s going on. She has closed all the windows in the office so it’s now humid and stuffy in here. So I have opened my window again because I need fresh air - and she’s complaining to everyone who’ll listen that we shouldn’t be expected to work in these conditions because the guys have sealed the doors where they’re working but they have all the windows open.

It would seem that bringing in a professional company to do the work, who take all the necessary precautions, is not enough for her. I wish her manager would just tell her to sod off for the rest of the week!

Rant over

Power went out this morning.

It’s back on now, such a pita though.

I went outside with Ripple so he could burn off some energy. He was being a total brat this morning. When the power came back on I fixed him bacon, egg, and toast for breakfast and now he is napping.
A napping dog is a good dog.

As for how hot it’s been here, we recently had a heat wave where, with the humidity, it was around 40 degrees C/104 degrees F. And me with no air conditioning. :frowning:

I didn’t want to ever admit such a deep dark secret on this board, as people with this fault are regularly vilified on the board, but - I’m a bit too much of a picky eater. It’s a combination of autism, plus the way I was raised, where my parents thought it was a good idea to not give me food that I didn’t like. Yeah, not the best strategy. And I find it difficult to try new foods, and I can’t even go near horrible-smelling foods such as hard-boiled eggs.

About my husband’s sister-in-law, I have zero problems with people who have legit allergies/intolerances. I, myself, can’t have phenylalanine. And she may have a legit intolerance or two. But it’s in the way she does it… like, “Oh, that looks lovely! I wish I could have some. I have XYZ intolerance. It’s such a burden to have to live this way.” Or something to that effect. She’s a story-topper, and I think her intolerances are just another manifestation of that.

This visit, my daughter is old enough to have her own opinion about things, her own stories to tell. I’m afraid of my husband’s SIL one-upping her stories, and making her feel small. I can handle when she does that to me, but my 5-year-old doesn’t have the emotional fortitude to be told repeatedly, “Oh, that’s nothing.” and “you think that’s a problem? I have to deal with XYZ problem and it’s so much worse than your problem!” She’s 5 and her problems, though small, seem big to her. I can’t just not bring my kid over; my husband’s brother is Juliet Jr.'s godfather and wants to see her.

I’m going to have a talk to my daughter about Auntie M before she comes to town. And if I see it happening, I’m going to speak up to SIL and stand up for my kid.

**Midget **- I think it’s safe to say that a lot of people have food preferences that can be called “picky” - I don’t like really spicy food and there are some things that I’ve never tried because they just look nasty. Heck, I’d rather have Diet Coke than Diet Pepsi, but I have been known to drink the lesser beverage on occasion. But I hope my personal preferences have never caused someone to change their menu for me. I would never demand someone cook something just for me.

To my mind, “picky” goes beyond preferences. Like my sis - she absolutely won’t eat potato chips unless it’s her preferred brand. As if there’s that much of a difference between regular potato chips. And people who claim allergies when the bottom line is they don’t like a certain item. I suppose if someone constantly nags you to try something that you don’t like, you plead allergy out of frustration. But don’t tell me you’re allergic to dairy, then order an ice cream sundae…

All this food talk is making me hungry. Gonna go fetch my lunch now.

Juliet **- your daughter is probably old enough to start learning that certain people are just a pain in the butt! Good on ya!!

Got some pictures of Pacho the bandanna cat today.

Excellent!
