Popping Your Cherry with the MMP

**Robyn **- I thought that was you, but I wasn’t certain enough to say so. And I honestly can’t recall if we’ve ever met IRL, but I leaning towards not…

I am now showered and dressed in ratty sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt that I love but I can’t wear in public because it has a couple of little holes in the front. It’s comfy enough for home alone days, tho!

The rain is still stopped. I need to load the dishwasher. I’ve called our car guys about checking the brakes on the Sonata - we’ll drop it off tonight, assuming it’s not blizzarding by then. And according to the 10-day forecast, next Tues night, it’s supposed to drop into single digits. We are not amused.

“Straws are frozen”?

No, we have met. I want to say it was at a Dopefest at WeirdDave and Gingy’s, but it was quite a while ago.

Yes, **Rue **started out posting stories on Monday mornings, and they got hijacked eventually. It was a while before he called them Monday Morning Posts, and later MMP. Then he disappeared. Well, from here. He posts on FB, but despite a couple of invites from me, he never came back here. His loss. Maybe being the father of teenage boys takes up a lot of his time.

I was trying to find the first MMP, but I got distracted reading thru some of his early stuff. Then I found a thread on 9/10/2001 with no posts the next day or at all after that… weird to look back in time.

I can’t believe I’ve been on the Dope more than 14 years…

Happy Moonday!

It’s snowing now.
The earlier snow didn’t stick to the road or sidewalk, I hope this snow doesn’t either.
If it does,
we have enough food and drink to go two weeks without leaving the house and each bathroom has 50+ rolls of TP. We even have french toast fixin’s.

As far as I can tell the house is critter free except for the dog. No signs of mice, no signs of bats.

Left over pizza for breakfast, sometime today I’ll bake the breakfast casserole and use the ground beef I browned yesterday.

2Gig!!! good to see you again!

That has been some time. They hosted one in Havre de Grace and one in Dundalk that I recall attending, waaaaaaaay back in history.

It’s been a while since anyone had a MAD gathering. I’d host one, but no one wants to drive down to the boonies where I live, except maybe BBBobbio, since he lives just down the road a bit. eh, I may try one in the spring anyway…

Thank you. I’d say ‘let’s do it again’, but our annual competition has been moved to Albany NY after 2013’s gerrymandering

Soapy! (I don’t have to tackle hug you, I see you all the time on fb)

When was the last time one of your dreams made sense?
It flurried here for about an hour, it now appears to have stopped. I’m sure it will start up again, but so far this is a non event.

{{{Soapy and giggity}}} We’re bringin’ 'em out of the woodworks today folks!

MOOOOOOM that’s world reknowned salsa eater not dancer. Get your facts right. SHEESH!

Irk is, believe it or not, not too irky so far. Even the conference call was not especially irky and only lasted twenty minutes. Miraculous!

Oops! I forgot to tackle hug giggity! Forgive me.

I’ve been calling it SNOWMAGEDDON!!!

What channel is L&O on? Now I have to go look! I love me some old L&Os. Saw one last week about cybercrime from the early days of teh interwebz. It was hilarious.

Well, let’s see. TNT shows it daily from 4am to 7am, then on weekends until 11am or noon, depending on what movies or sporting events they have lined up; WEtv has marathons on Tuesday and Saturday from 4pm or 5pm until 1am, and Sundance TV has it Mondays 3pm to 11pm and Fridays 4pm to midnight. Also, lots of other channels carry SVU and CI, so check your local listings

Happy Moan-day, y’all. And good luck to those experiencing Snowpocalypse in all its forms.

My former husband, bless him, gave me two beautiful daughters and an awareness of the Straight Dope. For those things he did serve me well.

I have no idea what my first thread was and I’ve never started a MMP. I do know that I started lurking when I had only one kid instead of two, and said kid is now in college. My, how time flies!:o

Tacklehugs? Ow, my leg.

Surprisingly back to The Castle today, which means I get to hang at home an extra 50 minutes before leaving for work (usually 1 hour commute to DC, 10 minutes to The Castle).

Ok, I’m so far out of the loop - Sari, did you move or something?

I remember that my first post on the Dope was in a thread about a book series. I don’t remember what my first thread was.

as for the weather here, it’s -25 Celsius/ -13 Fahrenheit.

Just got notice that our (internal) grant proposal was rejected. It was for a measly $15K, but it was for library software and what hospital cares about that??? So now we are going to floof around with the budget and see if we can squeeze it in. I hate those people.

The Castle fire was certainly a sad news story.

Yes I did move, to Hagerstown, you got to miss all my boring frustrated posts about legal bs and delays I had to go through. The house was part of an inheritance and 2 of the 4 sisters delayed settlement with their bullshit.

I got most of my errands run. My car didn’t pass inspection because I haven’t driven enough to reset the computer. One fine day I’ll actually get my car inspected before the last week of the month.

Taking a break from re-running The Tudors on Netflix - I’m having soup. I have a total of 7 baskets crocheted, altho I have to attach the handles to 5 of them. I’ll do all the handles at once.

I’ll be able to watch 1 more episode of the Tudors (Anne Boleyn is getting dangerously close to her beheading) before NCIS starts at 1. I don’t watch NCIS-LA - I don’t like it.

I kinda remember the delays, just not the success. Well that alone is the good news I was looking for.

Congrats!

Spaz I have been sweating a emissions test for months - my pickup has had an engine light on for awhile.

Just last night I was looking over the paperwork and realized it was for my other car (which is fine). They don’t do emissions on diesels.

Yeah they do want some miles on your car after a reset. People found that with a $25 cable from Amazon and a laptop you can clear the computer fault and pass the test. So they instituted the delay.
