Did anyone else watch last night’s episode of Psych?
I liked it, but it wasn’t their best work. I guess part of it is the big gap since the last episode… I feel like they could have done more with an Indiana Jones parody. I’d give it a 7/10.
I’m proud of Shawn… He finally put his phone on vibrate!
I laughed, and it’s always great to see Cary Elwes doing comedy again.
The only minor problem I had was overtly referencing Indiana Jones in the presence of John Rhys Davies. That’s one step too far. Implication is enough.
The CGI in place of every single explosion and firing gun was really damn distracting. I also love how they’re not even lifting a finger to pretend to be in Southern California. That lake scene was cracking me up.
So, how many commercials did they cram in to make it “super sized”?
It was on On Demand several days before it actually aired, and even with commercials (like one commercial per break, not a full amount) it was still only something like 47mins, the same length as always in this sort of format.
I loved the camel clutch “ASK HIM, REF” moment during Shawn and Gus’s fight.
I rarely watch Psych but I saw from the description that Pierre Despereaux was returning. I enjoyed him the last time he was on the show so I’ll check out the episode.
It was great–Sallah, Desperaux, and Woody the Coroner all in one episode! I missed Chief Vick, though. The insulting tour guide woman at the Yerden Estate was pretty funny.
Despereaux is seen on his own with one of the ugly paintings they found. He takes a wet sponge or cloth and starts wiping the painting, and we see a face from another painting underneath. “Hello, Rembrandt” Despereaux says, smiling to himself.
Regarding Chief Vick, she DID appear on last week’s episode of NCIS as the wife of a murder victim. At least, I think it was last week’s ep (my DVR is pretty backed up). Maybe she is shopping around for a new gig?
She’s kind of pointless on Psych, especially now that the Dad plays the “boss” role at the police station. I kinda hope she finds something else and they come up with a different regular cast member. The show could use a new face.
I was hoping they would turn the asian intern from a while back into a regular, or atleast reoccurring, role, since having Sean and Gus be someones boss seems like it has a lot of possibilities. But alas.
An odd episode. There were a bunch of scenes where the story dragged, or I wanted to slap the screen even knowing it’s supposed to be a comedy. But there were also a few choice bits where we and my cowatcher burst out laughing. So, overall uneven.
I felt that the end was a bit of a cheat. I liked the idea that the secret stash was a bunch of bad paintings made important only by context. They didn’t need to make one a Rembrandt. It was enough that the Dread Pirate Roberts death was faked and he stole his bank account back. They didn’t need to twist the treasure hunt too. The dead guy’s painting was valuable enough on its own merits.
