This episode was written and directed by James Roday, by the way.
Ah, no wonder it felt like “Tuesday the 17th”.
Did he also do costume design? Because my god I could not stop staring at the filmmaker chick.
Oh, yeah, she had very noticeable… costuming.
Hot filmmaker chick is an artist in real life.
So, does that qualify as a bottle episode?
Really fantastic episode. I tend to love the parody/homage eps and this one was no exception. That bit with Lassiter in the knit cap, snot running down his face, was perfect. I’m generally not a Juliet fan, but her kicking ass with a crossbow was great. Bigfoot guy with the axe in his back that was flopping all over the place. Hilarious.
Hot girl who wanted to have sex with everyone was not unappreciated, either.
“You’re using me as a chest of drawers, thats not rigghhhttt”
Just want to pop in and give props to my buddy Alex who played Chavo. YAY Alex!
You know that guy? Awesome! I thought he did a great job.
I’m now very confused about Julie’s dad.
Confused no longer - I’d somehow missed the bit about him being the step-dad.
yeah - he’s not just another Frank.
Step Dad: “Something always happens.”
[they get kidnapped with bags over their heads]
Step Dad: “See?”
Shawn slapping the ground food out of Gus’s hand was hilarious.
What was cunning about this idea was that whenever they want a caper plot and Shatner isn’t available, they can fall back on the equally fun Jeffrey Tambor!
I’ve noticed they’ve upgraded Shawn’s psychic hyper-noticing effect too.
The Clue Episode
First off, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren were in the original Clue and of course ever since seeing the preview from last week I was wondering when Shawn was going to sneak in his Tim Curry impression.
Second, Christopher Lloyd’s name was Martin Kahn, in reference to Madeline.
When the show started, I thought they were going to play with some of the other character names as well (Lesley was lesley, Chris was Martin) but they really didn’t. A handful of other references to the original movie as well.
Great Scott! Christopher Lloyd’s character made a reference to a lightning storm from his past!
Clue episode was fantastic! I’m not normally a fan of “vote for the ending” nonsense with TV shows, but given the source material they were paying homage to, it was completely appropriate. So many great Clue references, both in terms of lines and visuals. Even outside of the Clue stuff, a ton of good things: panther!, chocolate room, Gus’ toupee-phobia, the return of Curt Smith… It was over the top, but I loved every minute of it.
And Martin Mull was especially awesome.
I hope they come out with all the endings soon, like the movie did on video.
