It’s like they’re turning her into Deb from Dexter.
Well, hopefully she won’t decide she wants to sleep with her brother.
Or find out that Shawn is her brother and she’s already been sleeping with him.
OR find out that Shawn is already sleeping with her brother.
“What just happened?”
That was an interesting view…
I liked how we kind of got a view inside his head, where reality, ultra-perception, and dreams all get mixed up. And no “Scooby-Doo Ending”!
In the first few minutes I was kind of, well, really annoyed that they were going to blow off last weeks big ending, but as the episode went on, I saw what they were doing. I’m glad they ended it with Jules realization being the real ending.
It was kind of a Run Lola Run type thing.
I’m glad they’re spending a lot of time on this, because as it’s the basis of the entire show it has to be taken seriously and dealt with reasonably. It’d be wrong to tie it up too neatly.
“I think I just blew my own mind”
Almost as if they were trying to impress us that he is actually psychic.
OTOH, the show is full of plot holes, it’s a sitcom, it’s funny and I’m totally willing to look the other way because I like it.
I just hope they keep it somewhat light hearted and funny as they deal with it. They did a good job of that this week. Having Lloyd interrupt Shawn and his dad or having Juliet give him a hard time during the investigation. It’s not a serious show so I hope they don’t make it too serious.
That’s what I thought when I first started watching it, especially when they started having two ‘time lines.’ Once I got about half way through it I really liked the way it was done. I can get why she’s really pissed off, but I hope they don’t get too serious.
I didn’t know until I checked his IMDB page just now, but the actor that played Teddy was the title character in Weird Al’s video “Gump.”
I just watched it and now I’m all upset that Lassie Jr isn’t real.
Or Sliding Doors. At least, that’s what I was reminded of.
I just caught up, and really didn’t like this week’s episode. I felt like the entire thing - both timelines - were fake. Things just weren’t clicking for me.
For what it’s worth, I don’t like when shows have their lead character become self destructive. I hope this isn’t a trend. The way Shawn handled it at the end - telling Jules he wished he didn’t give her the jacket… shakes head
Wow, Shawn really IS terrible at this relationship stuff, huh? Not surprising considering his dad (and his “great” advice this episode) but still… For someone so smart and observant, you’d think Shawn could pick up on social cues, too. I guess that’s just part of the immaturity he’s still dealing with; hopefully as the series progresses he’ll grow out of it. He’s learning to treat Gus better; maybe women, too.
But DANG! You don’t have to be a social genius to know that “I’m sorry I got caught” is NOT what you want to say to someone you pissed off. All Shawn had to do was explain the truth; that circumstance forced him to lie, and that once he did he finally found something to do with his life that he’s actually good at and that really helps other people. But he’s just too caught up in his own perceived awesomeness to understand why Juliet is mad at him. That really shows in his imagination scenarios, especially the one at the end where he makes up with Juliet. He completely misses the point there; no wonder she’s still mad!
ETA:
Shawn has always been self destructive though. He’s slowly getting better, but he’s still impulsive and self centered. At least now it takes him a lot less time to make up for the crap he does to Gus than it used to.
I completely agree. I think that someone who had been brooding for several days would have come to a different conclusion. His “jacket response” wasn’t even for a joke which could have made it more in character. When I originally saw Juliette digging in the jacket pocket, I assumed she found the ring that we know Shawn purchased. So it was a fantastic twist on my expectations, but dumb Shawn only concerned about his job and reputation doesn’t go well with anything else we know about him.
Well, I think the “If I hadn’t given you the jacket” was only there to lead us to this episode - so that he could play out both scenarios in his head - to me, it would have played better had that moment been at the end of this one - leading his decision to ‘give her the jacket or not’.
Sean is totally blowing it - “you’re not going to tell are you” - I don’t think he’s thought about his ‘lie’ in so long now its not funny - and if he had a few moments to think about it, could likely get it right
I’m curious as to what they do next - that will be what will make this ‘spectacular’ or ‘blunder of the century’.
I didn’t really care for the last episode. It just seemed like they were trying to cram too much in.
Also, the show seems to be taking a much darker, grounded turn that I’m not sure I like.
It certainly is taking a darker turn, but I’m sure it’s very temporary. I had fallen behind lately, the last episode I saw was the Mexico one, and then I got caught up in one night. The Clue episode was one of the silliest in a long time; the episode(s?) between that one and the current one were par for the course; and this latest episode was one of the most serious episodes since Yin and Yang. So I’m sure the show will get back to comedy before too long, even if Shawn’s relationship takes a while to sort itself out. I mean, how many serious episodes did we have after Abigail?
