Welfy I’m leaning against the Stanley Cup. It’s the trophy given out to the NHL Championship hockey team. Every player of the winning team (and much of the staff) gets to take it where ever they want for one day.

Shawn Chambers is a friend of the family and played on the New Jersey Devils team that won the Stanley Cup in ‘95. He was nice enough to have a big ol’ party at his house, with the Cup as the guest of honor.
It was eleventy million degrees that day so the picture isn’t all that flattering. It is, of course, the only photo I scanned.
I also got to party with it last year when Dallas won, but it wasn’t as fun (Darien Hatcher lives down the street for Shawn)

Yeah, it was a hurricane, coming to take me away! Actually, I live as far west as someone could possibly live in Pennsylvania, so it would be safe to say that it was just a pretty sunset in the background. That picture was taken right after commencement, outside the school. Next year it will be ME wearing the cap and gown! Woo hoO!

There is so much in this world that I find infuriating. The fact that these are things that I can do nothing about only adds insult to injury.
Actually, I was @ my buddy Kevin’s house, he had just gotten his webcam and we were tinkering with it. We had just gotten off of work, and I was concentrating on how to get it to work and take a pic of me. It was just a test pic, and the only one I have.
But rest assured, as I just got my own webcam yesterday, that I will be posting more pics to my webpage regularly, and if I get a good one, I’ll submit it so it’ll be updated.
I know I look like some kind of psycho, but I can’t help it. I just look that way, unless I smile a big shit-eatin’ grin. Hmmmm, that’s a good idea…

I have a question but it’s kind of self-directed: Why didn’t I know Brachyrhynchos was a woman? I don’t think she was doing a TVeblen and deliberately obscuring her gender. (Well, wouldn’t you, if you had a beard?) I had a very firmly established male mental image, which, having seen her photo, was not only wrong but WAY wrong, as she is a very attractive woman. (Veb is also a nice looking woman. The beard is virtual.) I’m going to have to review a few threads to see where I went astray.
Also, while I’m on the subject: Brachy– can you translate your username for me. Referencing my limited Greek vocabulary I come up with “Fast Nose”. I suspect that’s not right.
“Fast” is “tachys”, as in “tachycardia”. Brachyrhynchos means long nose, or long beak, if I’m not mistaken.

I looked a little further – brachys actually means “short”, rather than “long”. So the whole translation would be “short beak”.
My only recollection of brachys was from the term “brachistochrone”, as in the brachistochrone problem, i.e., which path is the fastest for a particle sliding downhill. I thought it meant “fastest time”. I now realize it means “shortest time”. (The answer, BTW, is a catenary curve, which also turns out to be a “tautochrone”.)
