Seems to have resolved for me. Haven’t gotten an error in the last half hour or so.
I’ll chip in $20 too.
But - I’m not sure this is a monetary problem.
I don’t blame the Mods for this at all, but it’s clear after all this time that the administrators of the SDMB do not give a damn about this board.

Got a 504 error just now when trying to access this thread.
During the time period you’re talking about … I had my worst 15-minute episode ever. Essentially, I couldn’t open any board pages at all. Forums, posts, nothing.
I don’t know if this actually made a difference, but: I got in by Google-searching an old post of mine, then opening THAT. I have the User Control Panel (list of recently-updated threads I’ve replied to) as a bookmark, and that bookmark was just stymied.
It’s clear that user base does collectively benefit from a “good period” or collectively suffer an error-filled “bad period”. How the boards presents to any given user at any given time seems to be completely chaotic.
Ton of timeouts today. Pretty muck makes the site unusable.
Today I can’t get through to anything on the first try. I have to wait a really long time to finally get an error message. Then, when I tap reload, the page comes up right away.
I’m on an Android phone, using Chrome.
ETA:. Virtually unusable.
Constant errors for the past few weeks. I thought the site name changed to “Gateway 504” it’s up there so often. 
Although, last night during debate was the only time I didn’t get the errors.

I hate to be a pest, but perhaps one should remember that one of the reasons for introducing the badly broken SultanTheme was to improve the SDMB’s Google ranking. This is not exactly helpful if potential new users find the site inaccessible, which has been happening about half the time for the last couple of days and intermittently for months now. In fact I think Google seriously downranks sites based on their response times.
Time for some serious action if we want this place to continue to exist, such as relocating servers.
While we might want that, it’s my understanding that the people who own the servers are, at best, oblivious to our existence. Maybe a PR push would be more effective.
I started collecting data this afternoon as to how many 50x errors of each type I was getting, just because.
So very, very, very many I gave up on that.
Just be careful not to make any calls to action with your PR push.

Ditto. It seems to be getting worse.
I’ve been starting my day where I wake up, logon to SDMB, take a shower, get dressed and check the computer. I’m like, “Oooh! Oooh! Page almost loaded-- ah, crap.” 
That would suck.

Today was the worst I have experienced. Probably a half dozen times I exited and signed in again. If it continues, it becomes too much trouble to even try.
“Unreliable” is quickly becoming “unusable”. I would think only the most dedicated of us board addicts even bother any more. Is this a way to build a growing clientele?
They should change the name to the Straight Dope Masochists Board.
