Rude 2026 Election Night Party Thread

That would be nice =)

I went on the Fox News site just for shits 'n giggles. This article was a fun read, especially the comments:

The government will pay for all of that, you know.

I pray that the Democrats will pull together, put this train back on the tracks, and repair some of the damage trump has done–whatever is still fixable. The international situation may not be fixable within the lifetimes of anyone reading this. Before the Dems inevitably turn on each other and start eating each other’s faces. Sorry, but that’s what they do…

Is it true Greg Abbot actually responded to Liam Nissan on X?

Just as an odd little aside, when I voted yesterday here in Michigan, there were an assortment of ‘I VOTED’ sticker designs available to take, spread out on a table. I chose one that showed a scenic image of a Great Lakes freighter, without giving it too close of a look.

This morning I am taking a closer look, and it’s the Edmund Fitzgerald, a red-hulled freighter that famously sank…in November. I can’t help but believe that the graphic artist who came up with that sticker design was sneaking in some symbolism.

Normally, I’d caution the Democrats against making sweeping changes too fast and look like they’re abusing their newly gained powers, but now…FUCK IT! ABUSE AWAY! GO ALL GENGHIS KHAN ON THEIR RED ASSES!

I still don’t agree with your position.

To me, your take here is tantamount to those who – after the wild success of the COVID vaccines – said there was no reason to be vaccinated because COVID was going away.

I think the “hair on fire” crowd drew attention to Democracy being on the chopping block, as evidenced by the polls saying it was the voters’ (generally) third most important issue.

That’s the dealership where my cousin bought his used '93 Sentra.

Turned out to be a great car.

ETA: Though nearly three years old, this actually DID happen:

Me, too! I’m not much of a drinker. But i mulled some cyber all day yesterday, and celebrated with a glass of rich, spice-infused, concentrated cider last night. It was good

How about ‘The Texas Brain Thaw Massacre’, since Texan voters finally wised up?

That teen-aged high school student graphic designer. So savvy for one so young. I am heartened that our youth are so much better than their elders.

They didn’t.

So much of this country is deeply selfish, they don’t actually care about having a competent compassionate government. They’re mad that gas is expensive, and groceries are expensive and are punishing the party they think is responsible for their personal problems.

The instant Republicans can plausibly claim that they’ll hurt someone else for the voter’s benefit, they’ll be back to beet red.

Maybe some of them. But the much-ballyhooed shift of Hispanic voters towards Trump in the last election reversed itself sharply, and I would be quite surprised if those voters picked red again for several election cycles at least. That shift was the basis of the Texas gerrymander in south Texas, and those districts all elected Dems.

There are lots of reasons to celebrate.

I’m stunned that, for the first time since we lived in Tom DeLay’s district in Texas so many years ago, we now have a Congressman who isn’t a fawning Republican/MAGA turd.

Dembo (D) beat Alvarado (R) in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, defying pollster predictions. Glad to be on the winning side for once.

These are adorable. I love the tutu frog.

Nice info pull! I didn’t even know there had been a Michigan contest for "I voted’ sticker designs.

Maybe. Someone else in one of these threads posted something to the effect of “eh, so the penulum swung to the left. It’ll swing back again soon enough”. And they’re probably right. Voters do seem to have a shorter memory than goldfish when it comes to politics. But at least, the pendulum did swing back to blue, despite all efforts of Repubs to bolt that sucker permanently in the far red position.

And, I don’t know, time will tell whether this trend, not just in Texas but everywhere Dems prevailed, is just an angry reaction to high prices, a repudiation of trumpism in general, or, dare to dream, even a deeper political and philisophical shift.

But for now, I’m happy that the only ‘beet red’ right now is on Repub faces.

And similarly, I hope to God that the Democrats actually implement some accountability. Sadly, I fear that nothing will happen except a bunch of ‘(R)s’ changing to ‘(D)’ on various political charts and lists etc.

OK, so far so good, NO Sherrod Brown-related e-mail since 12am. Guess they were all out celebrating and I say, party on.

But really, seriously, 10 to 20 such a day for weeks, to someone who’s no longer even in CONUS? No one else was saturating my inbox like that.

Fun article for schadenfreude:
