We shall cross all appendages, but we shall no longer broach the subject till they bring it up. Of course, once they do, we’ve got lots of suggestions.
Supper was OK - the ribs were kinda fatty. But we’ve got full tummies, so there’s that.
Have fun in Indiana ruble. I’ll be packing to go up in a couple of weeks (Dad turns 80 )
Hugs to you TB. Pough Chan was when I was just lurking, but I remember.
I began the morning with a flat tire. The nail I picked up (the fourth in less than 2 years) did a little damage to the sidewall, so it was new tires on the back. I rolled into irk 2 hours late, but my boss didn’t ding me on attendance.
Nelson is in a cuddly mood this evening. Unfortunately, he has some serious gas.
I had a pretty good birthday after all. My A/P lady whom I had never met in person picked me up when she got off irk and we went to the little golf course restaurant where there were five more colleagues whom I have met waiting. We had a nice dinner and talked hurricanes.
We procured a rental today and are heading south early. We will probably go as far as West Palm and stop for the night. Also got the order to return starting on Friday so it will be just right. Our friend who is delivering us two generators is leaving on Friday heading that way so I may not be too hot for long. Once the base is open I will go sleep in my office if need be.

We’re going to cram more into the trip than we should but it isn’t like we haven’t done that before. I love north-central Indiana. If I ever left PA it would be for something like Kokomo or Thorntown or Tipton or something. There is just something about the people and all I really enjoy. Or maybe Gnabone and someplace south with mountains. Hard to say.

You might like west central Indiana. Some hills, but anything else that you like about the area. My dad lives almost to Michigan, so I have a couple of hours of two lane roads to drive north of Indy.
And it’s my Firday - yay! I’ve got the hot task for my boss to finish this morning, then back to the monstrous pile of stuff from Josh. I’m hoping the day goes fast.
Debating whether to take the slightly longer alternate route home today. The county fair opens and normally, I drive right by the fairgrounds. Last year, the traffic was obscene - backed up for-freekin’-ever! So maybe I’ll go the alternate route.
My mom’s cruise is about to start the portion with the transatlantic crossing. They’ll go from Lisbon to Bermuda, then to Fort Lauderdale. The final leg will be the first week of October - I hope all this hurricane silliness is done by then… think happy thoughts…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. with a chance of afternoon tstorms. We shall see. I have a coupon for buy one get one free Sonny’s bbq chikin with two sides and includes drink so that shall be dindin. It will expire soon so it must be used. Cannot let that go to waste now can we!
Butters glad you had a good bday. Be safe in your travels today. That’s a looooooooooooooooooooong drive so glad y’all are breakin’ it up over two days. Will you be able to get in your home or will you be on the base at KW?
Poor JDD has been at the ER with Miss Becky since four a.m. She’s been scratchin’ at that sore on her head again and apparently managed to cause it to bleed bad enough for the nursin’ home to call and say they were sendin’ her to the ER. Anywho, she now has a few stitches up there. ICK!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify. No huge plans for the day. Fine by me. I may or may not leave da cave.
TB, I wasn’t around for Pough-Chan. I searched and read your posts and my heart hurt for you. Anniversaries are hard. Feel free to hang around here with the usual gang of idiots.
It’s so hot and hooomid that the a/c went on in the a.m. Yikes! And the garbage collectors missed my trash can yesterday and I was not bringing that stinky thang back into the garage. It is scheduled to be picked up today. I do not want a repeat of the maggot incident ™.
Pepper pup graduated her puppy class yesterday. She will start her second one on Friday, and is scheduled to finish that one early. She’ll then go to Adult Level 2. She’s zooming right along. Did I mention that she’s trying to open door knobs? Smart pup.
I think the rain is moving out today and we’ll have a few days of clear skies. The temps are staying high 60’s/low 70’s so I shan’t complain. It’s definitely Fall hereabouts. The trees are turning, birds are migrating. Fall is my second favorite season. I am happy.
I was eyeballs deep in a drawing before I noticed that it was nearly 11:30!!! I like to take my lunch break at 11, so, dang! But it’s all good. I’ve lunched and I have a little more time to surf before diving back into the drawing, so yay!
Meanwhile, I’m so ready for my weekend! It’s going to be too hot for me to bother gardening. I do have to mow, but my other big chore plan involves cleaning the traffic areas of our carpet, including a few spots that Higgs watered for us. Stoopit dog. Dunno what else I may do - as usual, I’ll wing it.
Miss Becky went back to the nursin’ home around nine a.m. JDD went home to sleep. I know both of them are exhausted. I told JDD that since his aunt will visit this afternoon after her hair appointment (the do must get did above all things!) I’d go visit tomorrow to give him a break. I feel like I should go at least once a week so maybe Firday afternoons will be a good time. I et a turkey sammich for N.O.L. Don’t want much to eat cause I shall chow down at Sonny’s later today.
WetOne I had a problem with my trash not gettin’ picked up from time to time. My neighbor and I set our trash cans next to each other. Hers would get picked up and mine wouldn’t. I complained so many times that for a while I would get a call from the trash folks makin’ sure mine got picked up. This was several years ago and I haven’t had problems since. I even offered once to load up my trash can on the back of twuck and take it to 'em.
**swampy **- was it a case of the trash picker-uppers thinking your neighbor was putting out twice as much trash as allowed??
Last time we live in FL, we found out our cheapskate neighbor was dragging her trash in front of our house after we left for work so she wouldn’t have to pay for pickup. **FCD **went over and told her to knock it off. For the record, it cost about $10/month, and she smoked at least that much every day. I really disliked that woman. I found out after we moved that she lost her house because she fell behind on the mortgage. But she always had smokes…
Sorry I missed your Birthday Butters. I don’t imagine it was very festive, but you’ll be home soon. {{{hugs}}}
Nothing going on today, 'cept today is 10% off for veterans at the local Kroger store.
I shall make my way there later today. We need a serving tray and some ramekins, according to Wifey, and I’ll snoop around in the [del]fat[/del] big and tall men’s department for a bit. I’m always on the lookout for new shirts. The ones that i like get worn out pretty fast and the ones that I don’t like hang around in the closet 'til I get tired of looking at them and take 'em to the thrift store. Funny how that happens. :dubious:
I also need to swing by our big storage locker. Fortunately it’s right across the street from the Kroger store. When the economy turned to mush and I gave up my store downtown and we sold the beach cabin, all that extra furniture and display stuff had to go somewhere, so we rented a storage space and filled it up. It’s been convenient and relatively inexpensive, so we’ve been slow to get rid of all that stuff. Well it’s not so full as it used to be and I got an email yesterday that they wanted to raise my rent, so I gotta get serious about clearing it out. I think the thrift store or the ReStore (Habitat for Humanity) is gonna get a bunch of stuffs in the next few days. Hopefully it’ll stop raining soon so’s I can load the pickup with the big stuffs.
