The guy on my block with the really loud motorcycle is a child molesting-rapist. So is the jackass new guy at the office. And that lady who cut me off on I-35 yesterday.
Am I supposed to call 911 or the regular police number to have a black & white sent out to handle the arrest and execution? How long should it take? I know the budget’s stretched a little thin now, would it help if I yelled “Citizen’s Arrest!” then shot them in the face? The motorcycle guy seems kind of wary, I may not be able to get the drop on him. Would it be OK if I set fire to his house while he’s asleep? Do I get the keys to the city or something?
So nobody wants to pick the low-hanging fruit and ask how rapists, child molesters, wife beaters, people who argue after being arrested, and speeders have anything to do with liberals?
How convenient then that speeders, arguers, rapists and child molesters are shot on sight under your system. Why beat someone up and risk a beating yourself when you can just shoot to kill instead? It’s hard to dispute abuse of power when the witnesses are dead. A corrupt cop can just claim that the victim was engaging in one of the above activities. “Abuse of power? Hell no, he was arguing!”
If you are really a retired cop, and I wouldn’t believe it unless I saw the badge and gold watch, then this is the reason people don’t trust the police.
Right. Then we’d have all kinds of nutzo sheriffs patrolling our back roads, armed with role playing games. They play enough head games already. (I know what it stands for in your world: but this post needed a small bit of levity before I cut loose below.)
Uh… right.
Now, I have a right to agree with you here, just from personal experience. However, I don’t. I suppose you believe anyone on the sex offender registry should be executed as well? The SOP is the biggest crock in the existence of law enforcement. Sure, there are people on there who may deserve to be there, like, as you said, rapists and child molestors.
But define child molestor. Some people who are branded as such were Romeo/Juliet scenarios: where the offender was barely legal and the victim was barely not, and everything was consensual with the knowledge of the parents. Some people on the registry are there because they sprinkled the flowers in the park with their personal garden hose: some because child porn was downloaded to their computers during an otherwise innocent transfer (YouTube, for example): some because they were having sex outside (i.e., on top of a hill) with their spouse. All of the above can be listed on the SOP in various states.
And what good does the SOP do? Not a heck of a lot. Murderers get less time than many sex offenders, and they are not required to register for life, stay 1000 feet away from schools, etc: even if they killed a child. On the SOP, their information is in the Internet for anyone to see, causing grief to their innocent families. Some states require a RSOP to have a different kind of driver’s license: not so for murderers or any other crime. The SOP includes too many people for too many different crimes in order to be completely effective.
And mine, too. Add 25¢ to that and you could buy a cup of coffee at Denny’s.
I think the OP’s idea (putting it generously) is that liberal pussies such as myself are the people who believe in civil rights and the rule of law, which just get in the way of cops dispensing summary justice.
In which case, thanks, teenage troll pretending to be a 65-year-old retired cop!
Hey, as a proud “etc,” I take exception to that! If you’re going to be lauding other jerks by name, I demand the same recognition also!! Take that anonymous “etc” bullshit!
