SDMB Christmas Exchange 2020 (Super Blitz Edition)

Turns out Mr. I Love Spice is kind of a weenie . I bought him a Heatonist flight, but just levels 1-7. A level 5 made his eyes water, the level 7 made his ears sweat. He popped the jar open and said “smells good!”, but he then started blinking rapidly. So, I think he’ll be clearing his sinuses real well.

I’ve been trepidiciously using the Last Dab I ordered and Hoo Boy!! does it have some bite. While I sympathize with your FSIL, tell him to suck it up or you’ll sneak Da Bomb into his morning eggs…

It was adorable watching him taste testing them. I stuck to very vinegary sauces, as that’s his favorite profile. He puts sriracha on everything. So, tough guy.
The adoboloco is what made his ears water.
The level 5 was Small Axe habanero ginger. I liked it. No back of the throat burn, it was boom ginger burn.

“adorable” I love the Rojo Loco on pretty much everything, as well as the Classic sauces. The hotter stuff, especially anything based of Reaper peppers (which have a lovely taste just before they try to tear your head off) I use with chili and the like.

Tracking on mine states it was delivered yesterday afternoon. I hope that’s true!

That was from me! So happy it made the journey! Hope you enjoy it

I just checked the mail and found a Christmasy painted box with my name on it! I haven’t opened it yet, hubs is at the range and while he acts like stuff like Secret Santa’s are silly women’s stuff, he still enjoys them.

I’m pretty sure I have PurpleHorseShoe thank!

I’ll update again after opening

Wow, @PurpleHorseShoe, you sure did manage to fit a bunch of goodies in a small, but gaily decorated box! Thank you so much!

When I opened the box, the first thing I found were the only Candy Canes I’ve gotten this year. There are a few things I do miss about working, Christmas treats being one of them. I’ve not had the cocoa flavored kisses before, they are super yummy! My package also included Russell Stover hot chocolate melt-away Santas which I am stashing for myself! Hubs has already opened the Michigan dried blueberries, and the Michigan mints seem to have found their way to mom’s room, LOL.

I love the adorable wooden bowl, it looks great with my collection. Edibles always make for a nice lazy day, and the Tequila Rose strawberry cream smells delightful.

Thank you so much and the cats thank you. We all noticed that while you carefully rolled things into the mylar wrapping paper, you didn’t use tape. That is such a thoughtful gesture and will be remembered for a very long time.

Got my present on christmas eve - just in time for christmas! A nice sun-catcher: I hope I will get some sun to catch one of these days, as the sky has been covered with dense clouds for quite a few day. A COVID mask showing an image of Philadelphia city hall reminds me of the two years I worked in King of Prussia, just about 30 years ago. And a “dumpster fire 2020” ornament. Thanks, Rocking_chair!

That’s friggin’ adorable.

(Glad everything arrived safely - I truly enjoyed putting it together and tarting up the box with a slather of paint.)

Update on my gift:
As of 12/27/20 it was in Chicago, preparing to fly far away.

i’m glad it got there in time!

i believe i’ve been in kop perhaps a handful of times. the thing that hasn’t changed is the traffic. it is still a bit of a nightmare going back and forth from the city to kop.

Kitty seal of approval!

Sorry I’ve been MIA! I worked a few days last week, then spent a few days with my family, and I’m finally back online. My wonderful package was from Rhiannon8404, who not only honored every single one of my favorites (treats for my dogs! wildflower seeds for my garden! a magnet from their hometown, plus snacks from there!), they sent a hand-knitted shawl/scarf that’s absolutely gorgeous and super soft. I love it all, thank you!

As for my recipient, the news is not so sunny (unless you really REALLY love anticipation). The package was shipped on 12/19. The receipt says it’ll be delivered on 12/22 (seeing as how I sent it by Priority TWO-DAY Shipping). The clerk warned that it might not arrive until 12/26. Today, tracking tells me that it is “In Transit, Arriving Late.” The last message was left on 12/28, and reads: Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way." Guess I should have walked it there, after all.

Okay, I hafta admit that - while I’m happy that you’re happy - this has mystified me. If this was a good thing to have done, then I’d like to continue doing that … but could you explain the “why?” behind it?

It was very thoughtful. Kitties love to play with Mylar sheets and not taping them keeps them pristine and intact for more prolonged feline amusement (that last phrase sounds like a condom ad…).

Mylar wrap is kitty crack at my house.

Huh. Mine both “helped” me wrap, and 100% of my survey sample was uninterested in the Mylar … including Monkey, who thinks empty open air is a toy. (Or possibly there was a fly I didn’t see.)

Well, anyways, I’m glad what I thought was laziness on my part worked out. Goes to show, I should quit being so tough on myself.

Sounds like Monkey is getting his kitty crack somewhere else. MMS (made me smile).

Interdimensional Kitty Crack! Band Name!

Otherwise known as IKC!
Sound it out with some literary license.

[maybe I don’t need any bubbly later tonight after all…]
