There is usually a dominant team in this format; Hamlet is scoring more than anyone else ever has through five games (at least that I can recall), but the excess points don’t mean a great deal at season’s end. Injuries, roster changes, something always intervenes to slow down production. Heck, Hamlet and I had the highest-scoring teams last season and neither of us even made the championship game. I scored 186 in the first round of the 2017 playoffs and didn’t even break 100 in the championship game (and lost to Varlos who wasn’t even playing).
The Fantasy Talking Heads are all saying Chark’s efficiency-per-target is unsustainable (he’s the only guy in the top 5 with fewer than 40 targets, per PFF Radio this morning). But if the train is rolling, you may as well ride until it stops.
So he’s probably going to break his own record from last season, which itself broke a record that had stood since the first season of the league. But I’m not sure if he’s going to keep scoring even at the rate that Yahoo projects, as the league seems to have caught up with Mahomes, Keenan Allen is at least two weeks overdue for an ACL tear, and Austin Ekeler is going to be relegated to a change-of-pace role now. He’s got amazing depth but his bench guys are 15-point-per-week guys rather than 20-point-per-week guys.
151.30 fantasy points and I lose. Maddening. I’m well aware I’ve got a roster with no room for error this season as I loaded up on 2020 draft picks, but I still expect to win with that many fantasy points on a given week.
It depends on how bad the implosion is after losing next week vs Seattle and again the following week @ New England to go 2-5. Will they be able to “get right” the following week in Denver? I dunno, and if not, 2-6 is just about “have to win every game from here on out” territory.
Whatever happens to the Browns, I think we can agree that the end of last season was just the “teams not having any film” success that sometimes happens with young quarterbacks (see: Bruce Gradkowski), and that Mayfield’s really not very good, right?
Would you guys be ok with me changing my lineup retroactively? I didn’t get a chance to check, and I only ask because gallman was listed out before the game.
I’d appreciate it. Give me a chance to try to stay alive…
I have no objection, but really it’s up to Justin.
He was ruled out days ago, btw. It’s not like he was a last minute scratch. As in, maybe check in Tuesday or Wednesday to be sure you don’t mess up for Thursday games.
I take your point. I admit my initial enthusiasm has been somewhat tempered by my how you say “everything turning into a pile of shit”.
I don’t suppose you guys have any data on teams starting 1-4 making the playoffs? I wouldn’t expect them to be favorable.
So you guys can start sending the fire sale offers. Everybody but Watson is available.
To your question about has anyone gone 1-4 and made the playoffs, I don’t know but I’m interested in learning how to check, or if it’s even possible. If it is, I’d kind of like to gather all of the historical matchup data for potential later use in my program. Not sure how I’d use it, but I’d like to have it.
Anyone know how to get previous season weekly matchup & score data?
Normally I try to work with people in this way - maybe there was a big storm and they lost power for the day, or someone was a game time call and they have to work all day (although in this case their intent has to be declared beforehand) but in this case it’s unusual in that he was out for a long time, so normally I’d be inclined to say no.
But… since it was a Thursday game and your potential replacements haven’t played yet, and there’s no strategic advantage to be gained by doing this, and Justin says he’s fine with it, sure, I’ll move him to the bench.
I like the everyone-vs-everyone records this week, particularly season totals for potential. if everyone played perfectly: Hamlet has a twenty-one win lead over 2nd place (!!!), and then 4 teams tied for 2nd with another three teams within two. So for those seven teams with comparable potential, coaching is make or break. As I can personally attest, being dead last in season coaching grades.
I suppose the score total tables show the same thing, but it wouldn’t have stood out to me as much.
I’m curious, did anyone else consider picking up the Redskins D/ST? I already had a pretty decent matchup with the Cowboys D/ST vs the Jets, but knowing how horrible the Dolphins are made the ‘Skins D/ST a must start this week.
