No doubt, if his knee is 100% and he remembers to take the football with him.
Our draft (Just to have this on page five).
Also, Omni is on the clock, and probably at work. Maybe when he gets home…
Shibb, you know me so well…
Well, I’m glad I didn’t have that Carolina RB situation brain fart in a real draft.
I had the same brain fart in the last mock draft we held. So I guess these are good for something.
On another note, mrchan likes to take the same players as I do, I’ve noticed. I’ll have to pick ahead of him in the next one and make his life miserable.
Shall we begin a new thread to discuss the final draft results?
You could spend a whole forum to the crap that is my draft. Kordell? 3 rbs, and 18,342 wide receivers? Sheesh. At least if the Antsports computer takes over, there is no way we’d end up with the Matrix or Terminator. Heck, we’d probably have the Constitution as a paper towel, the Mona Lisa will be toilet paper, CarrotTop will become president, and Brittney Spears will be recognized for her musical abilities.
Geez, you guys are doing this already? In friggin’ May?
Any chance of another one?
furt, this is the third one we’ve done in the last month :o
Is it septemper yet?
Keep your eyes open, I’m up for another.
well, i think after all is said and done, we can go ahead and declare me the winner
posted it at antsports… here’s the link:
lets see what they have to say
I think mouthbreather took this one to the bank. Much more clear-cut to my eye than either of our previous drafts.
Agreed.
yeah mouthbreather did quite well. lets go again!
Well, I’ve got to beg to differ.
mouthbreather has a very nice team, but he’s a little too thick at RB. 6RBs is too many and he has no backups for bye weeks at 3 positions. Not to mention that I think Gannon’s bell is going to toll this season.
mrchan can also feel good, except he’s in the middle of the pack at QB, and he’s going to be real desperate if Holmes is out or ineffective.
Shibb has a nice team too, but he also has 6RBs and no backups at TE, PK, and D. His WRs are excellent and it puts him above mouthbreather IMHO. Warner is a gamble too, so time will tell.
WL is solid with another 6RB team and no backups at TE, PK and D, and his starters there leave alot to be desired.
Finally, my team is the best. Well, I’m not that confident, but in a real world draft I’d be happy to have alot of my players. I made 2 mistakes, first the Lamar Smith choice which leaves me hurting at RB and the homer pick of the Bears D without first realizing that they have the same bye week at the Eagles, my first pick. However I have the #1 QB core and great PKs. Plus I’d have more leverage for trades with those teams thin at D, QB and PK.
I might do a thorough rundown of all the teams a little later from top to bottom. It was fun and I’m looking forward to another hack at it, hopefully one with 12 or 14 teams this time.
In addition to my own, I like mr chan, WL, and Omni’s teams.
I’m of the opinion that you can never be “too thick at RB” as long as your QB and WR positions are solid. I never take into account bye weeks when drafting. Always go with the best player available, of course considering who you’ve already drafted. The three positions I have no backups in – PK, D/ST, and TE? That’s what the waiver wire is for. I’ll glady wait as the season unfolds to see if any of the late RB grabs I had will pan out. The average TE is garbage to FF anyway, and PKs are dime-a-dozen. I’ll glady take the 4 or 6 point hit for each of those positions for one week to have a chance at getting a breakout RB. Even if I can’t start him, healthy running backs are awesome for trade bait as the season progresses.
I’m ready for another one. Should we take a week off or do people want to get rolling sooner?
i’m up for whenever. football season needs to start already!
[Rodney Dangerfield] No respect. No respect at all. [/Rodney Dangerfield]
Don’t worry wadda, it’s anyway all academic until the season starts. Two years ago I was golden with Marshall Faulk. Last year, again with Faulk, and I would have been much better off with Priest Holmes. But before Priest Holmes’ breakout season, who knew? It’s sort of like analyzing the real NFL draft; the proof only comes after.
Is anybody energetic enough to map these out against a scoring table at the end of next season so we can have 20/20 hindsight benefit?
shibb - that would be a LOT of work. but if we were to do that, we should do one definitive mock draft.
mouth, let’s fire one up on Monday. I like the private draft set-up - no need to reserve an entire set of drafters on one account.
But I really think we need 12 people. 10 is too thin, 14 is painfully slow (but wonderfully deep).
And since I was bumped early, I’ll do a quick rundown.
Munch
Bumped in round 5, but actually not bad. Zereoue in Rd. 8 was a steal, first 3 WRs are great to good, QBs are extremely solid, and the RBs are the best of the draft (save Smith). C+
mouthbreather
Excellent team. Buckhalter was a bigger steal than Zereoue. I’d have picked up Elvis Joseph to back up Fraud instead of Shipp. Good QBs - I think Gannon has another year at least, and McNair is a starter in and of himself. But picking anything from the Redskins’ QB camp is a big minus! Best WRs in the draft, and Carolina was a great pick up. A
waddamaroon
Kitna at 16?!? Wow! RB backups are not good. Mack could put up numbers behind a healthy Boselli, but it’s still the Texans. Jordan could be a great backup for Martin, but Martin looks to be getting healthier. Got a lot of great #2 WRs, but they’re still #2 WRs. Good TE/K/DEF. B-
Shibb
QBs are not good. Warner could be a backup to Bulger, and Pennington lost one of his top targets. RBs are painful, as you have 1 starter among them (look for Buckhalter to get the nod this year in Philly). Smith and Boston will put up some great numbers, but their backups aren’t great (Warrick would be the first on the waiver wire in this league). C
mrchan
Great QBs. Great RBs. Great WRs. Great TE/K/DEF. Terrible backups across the board. One injury, and this team is done. B-
WL
I really like this team, with two exceptions. Duckett and Morton shouldn’t be here. Well, Duckett should have been picked way later, and Boeritger should have been in place of Morton (except now I see that he was taken a round earlier - oops). A-
Omni
See mrchan, but replace “terrible backups” with “zero backups”. 3 defenses?!? If you have the Eagles/Bucs/Dolphins, you can forget about another defense and focus on position players. C-
Wilson
Great QBs. Decent RBs. One good WR. Should have taken the Dolphins before the Chargers, or at least waited 4 more rounds. Not good backups (except at QB). B-
NurseCarmen
I also like this team, except for Hambrick. He showed up to camp looking like Mo Vaughn with a thyroid problem - Big Tuna’s not going to like that. Great WRs, and good picks at QB. Having Tampa Bay will help immensely. A-.
Hamlet
Kordell? Well, gotta take risks somewhere, eh? Willie Jackson or Qadry Ismail could have been switched out for a 4th RB, though. I like the TE/K/DEF, even if the DEF was a tad early. A-
