I’d be really interested in a SD DAoC guild.
Anything besides ubers and insane roleplayers, which is just about the entire guild community.

So sorry about not getting the server up. You should be able to connect now. If you really need the IP, it’s 162.33.179.98 but that may change, so just use counterstrike.gamer-vision.com.
The server currently has FF off, since I won’t be around until tomorrow afternoon or sunday to really keep an eye on it. Also, it’s got a pretty full map list, only 747 and VIP missions being taken out of the rotation.
You may need to restart your computer to flush your DNS so that entry works, if you’ve tried to get to the server recently and it’s not worked.
If you want any changes, send me a note at John@Gamer-Vision.com if there are any problems.

that is assuming my cd key isnt already in use, or I havent been banned, I just got the damn game and I have to deal with this kind of crap already its makin me crazy I tell ya

aww crap. i don’t know what the hell happened there, but it seems just plain strange. i think my computer attempting to autoreload in the middle of the process (and then crashing) did it.
ok, i was just playing with critical_1 and your brother, and the server is running just fine.
however, you might want to see if you can lower the “between maps” time. it’s nearly three minutes long, and people drop like crazy when it delays for such an interval.
that said, i really look forward to tomorrow’s Straight Dope CS meet. it’ll be great!
oh, PS; a suggestion, maybe you should name the server “The Straight Dope Counterstrike Server”. i just like that.
here is the voice chat program I use alot, it is WAY better than that pos that comes with cs, I have used this thing for over a year with few problems and its a huge advantage over text comunications.

some stuff you should know
it works best with a headset/mic combo
your compression rate should be set to delta. (it will ask during install)
under the volume tab you should have these settings. (this will variy but these work well for most)
playback should be at 1/2 or just under. it may be a little quiet at first but when you log into a game the volume turns up
voice prompts should be all the way down or close to it. they are usless stuff you done need to hear
micrphone should be under half to start with, this is the sound other hear from you.
voice activation lvl should be quite low, mine is set below the first line. you may need to play with this a bit.
to join a session do not click “find session” choose “join session” choose a name, enter the ip address and passord of the host and hit connect.
my ip is 24.20.34.98, I will disable the password for now but if there are any troubles over it we will have to figure out a way to get the password to the sd members only.
hosting now and Ill leave it up, I may or my not be around to talk but if your going to be on just leave it run and see who all joins. its pretty cool when you get to talk to people from other countries and the like.

ah, excellent. thanks, i’ve got the download running now. that looks interesting. i will have to go somewhere shortly, but after i get back we might be able to play CS into the wee hours.

this is actually a pretty useful thing, i think we might want to use it as a standard for tomorrow’s CS dopewar.
we’ll probably have to set up a second server, so there will be one for Counterterrorists and terrorists.

Well, I should be around tomorrow for our CS game, if not, my bro probably will be there (Teddust). However, if anyone knows how to fix the problem of my server having nearly 3 minutes between level changes, it’d be of great help if you could post it here, or send me an e-mail.
Also, we probably should set up some place ot meet before hand, on a chat server or something. I can set something up through my website, but it won’t be ready to go tomorrow. It can be used to future outings, however.

when you create a game there should be an option (try the advanced thing) for the timelimit
Otherwise you can use mp_timelimit # with a number in place of the # (0 turns off timelimit)
