SDMB Secret Santa Exchange

OK, I got the toys part right, but you’re telling me you could have been reduced to a giggling pile of goo at your birthdayfest? Blast, another opportunity wasted.

I’m in, and surprise me!

Things I like in general:

scents - single florals, heavy spices and musk
colors - green, purple and gold
“pretties” - I collect semi-precious stones and crystals, for example I hang lead crystals where the sun catches them, I have an amulet bag full of loose stones and crystals, and things like the malachite fish on my computer desk
large mugs - I like to make just one cup of coffee, tea or soup
something representative from where you live

I will be thrilled with whatever, some might say I am easy!

These exchanges are so much fun, I look forward to them all year!

By this I take it you do water color? I would love to talk to you about it sometime if so!

Can I request you? Kindred spirit if ever I saw one…

Purple Haze

Sure.

Good morning, all.

Tuesday’s list. After this I might not be able to update the list until at least Friday.

Please check and make sure you’re on there. Also I don’t see a problem accomodating your requests but in most cases it will not be a direct one-on-one exchange. Unless I feel like it of course.

Email sent!

I like pink and purple. I got a haircut a few weeks back and am digging using headbands again. I’m pregnant with baby #2 so anything that seems luxurious and indulgent would be nice. Maybe some Isotoner-style slipper socks for that cold hospital stay I’m expecting in February? I like coffee and chocolate. I love horses. I love Christmas ornaments of all kinds - our tree is a total hodgepodge. I like funny winter hats - the kinds with ear flaps and pom-poms on the top. I have pierced ears, and prefer hoops or small dangly earrings.

That should be plenty of suggestions. I can’t wait! This is one of my favorite exchanges of the year.

Yep. PM me, or email me at tneal at partners dot org.

Just bumping this a bit, in case anyone else wants to join in the fun!

I am also partial to gift cards, so I might as well list places I go to, just to give a few more options:

Trader Joe’s, In N Out, Stater Bros., Albertsons, Starbuck’s, Marie Callender’s, Denny’s, Bed, bath and Beyond; KMart; See’s Candies; AMC movie theatres; Whole Foods; Chili’s.

*I don’t know if that’s her doper name and am waiting for a response!

Also, I wanted to add one more suggestion for myself. I am really looking for a piggy bank! Only here are the stipulations:

I don’t want it in the shape of a piggy.
Any character in the world is OK, but I would really prefer non-Disney and no Donald Duck and absolutely no Minnie Mouse.
Not too girly please!

So either the stuff I said originally or this. Thanks! I’ll bump this again on Monday.

I have the email sent!!!

I like surprises, so most anything would do. And I really mean that.

But I love chocolate, or local sweets not easily available in the Midwest USA. If any Dopers from Australia got me, I once had a package of Jaffas and have been unable to find more.

I also like tea. The usual suspects, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Darjeeling, Lapsang Souchong.

Regional food favorites. Are you sensing a theme here?

I’m a baker. If your grandma, your family, or whoever has specialty recipes/family favorites you are willing to share, print them up and that would be a cool gift!

I’ll send international too, I love these kind of exchanges.

Bah, I was resisting this thread…

Damnit, I am in.

As of 5 seconds ago, I have not received e-mails from either Baker or fisha - but it’s possible I may just not have gotten them yet. Will check back later on this afternoon or tomorrow.

Deadline is Sunday, folks!

Shoot, I know I sent that thing the same day I posted in this thread. I’ll try again. Let me know ASAP if is still doesn’t arrive.

At the moment I have 43 people on this list and 42 in my e-mail (myself adds one) so I’m pretty sure I have everybody. If you don’t see yourself on the list, speak up please! Deadline is Sunday, so you still have a few days to join in if you want.

Ooh, I’m in too. Local stuff has been my request for the past few years, and so it shall be this year too. Something cool from your hood. (A few years ago, I got the Sunday edition of the New York Times, with handy commentary in little index cards. That was really cool.)

Candy is also good.

If you can do international, count me in - email already sent! I’m in the Middle East, so can provide some interesting local stuff if my recipient has indicated that kind of interest. I don’t think I can send food to the US though (?).

As for my interests, just about anything wrapped in Christmas paper will keep me happy. I am a busy working mother with an 8-month old daughter, so if you feel inclined to buy a small baby gift (as an easier option) that’s fine. Otherwise, bath salts/oils would be fine, nice Christmas ornaments (not too many of those around here!) or earrings (for pierced ears). I would also enjoy souvenir-type stuff from your local area.
