I’m nice, dammit. It says so right under my name!!!
OK, everybody should have a PM now with the exception of Atomic Mama, who needs to check her PM settings.
I had forgotten about the board’s “60 seconds between PMs” thing. Drinking coffee, listening to Christmas music, and thinking about strangers all over the world trying to make each other happy is actually a rather nice way to spend an hour.
Thanks to all of you for trusting me with your real names and addresses so we can make this happen.
Please remember to post here when you send your package and when you receive one. I can’t wait to hear what everybody gets!
Oh silvorange! You did good on mine! I think my person will get a good laugh when she sees my name is the same as hers (hint: it’s not Helena IRL).
I gots mine! Now to go back thru the thread looking for specifics.
Thank you so much, such a labor of love on your part, silvorange, you’re the greatest!
As for my giftee, well, here’s a hint: It’s what you’ll like about the South.
Got my giftee - now time to find out what he or she wants for Christmas!
Sooo excited! Thanks for doing this Can’t wait to start shopping!
Given what my giftee put as their wants…this should be a piece of cake!!!
I’m working on my gift already.
I am moving tomorrow, so no working on the gift yet.
But I am thinking!

Great turnout this year! Can’t wait to start shopping. Or knitting, depending on whether my person wants something handmade.

How could anyone not want something handmade? That’s just…against the rules.
Just got my PM! Thanks, Silvorange - this should be easy-peasy, and make my giftee verra verra happy…
Luckily, my Santee seems to have no objections. Think I’ll knit a nice scarf.
And I didn’t mention handmade in my first post, but handmade is great. I have no skill in making anything, so it is nice to see things that other people can do.
So I have to apologize to my giftee. Nothing handmade unless I buy it at a Christmas bazaar.
So, folks, would you still love something handmade if it was, like, an ugly macrame owl wall hanging?
No, I’m not going to do that, but I can think of reasons not to want something certain people make. Not to suggest that anyone in this thread is as tacky as some of the people who sell their wares where I sell my pottery, but I’ve seen some pretty hideous hand made crap. Like the “wine rack” made from an old board and some hose clamps. When it comes to crafts, just because you can doesn’t mean you should…
I, on the other hand, make cool stuff and my recipient is getting something I started a bit ago and will now get around to finishing. It’s cool - really! I promise!!!
Ho ho ho!!
FTR I’m all for hand-made stuff.
But don’t expect anything hand-made from me because I suuuuuuuuck at stuff like that.
Although now that I’m typing this, maybe I made a picture or a painting or something for someone a couple years ago? Ugh my stupid memory.
Oh well, point is I’m fine with the hand made
I’m excited to shop/scrounge/craft for my Santee! A perusal of this person’s post history reveals a thing or two we have in common.
I love handmade stuff…depending. Handmade ornaments, sure. My favorite hat is a knitted hat. Handmade jewelry, yes! But handmade things to stick on a shelf? Not so much because i don’t have a lot of knick-knacks around.
Handmade useful stuff, I guess, I love!
I would actually love the crap out of an ugly macrame owl.
A couple of years ago I embroidered a platypus saying “Blurf” for Filbert.
My giftee is getting 3 handmade things, but not edible things. I, however, would NOT like a macramé wol hanging (fingers crossed FCM does not have my name). A blurf platypus would rock though, but I’m not creative to think like that.
