I came home after attending a second funeral of this weekj. I was feeling pretty down because I am losing too many friends this way. So I gave myself a break and opened the package that came to me all the way from Florida.
What’s the best thing a Minnesotan can get from Florida? Real grapefruit! The stuff that Floridians like to keep for themselves while sending the lesser items to us northerners. I pulled out a bag of four. Then another bag of four. Then a third. I have a dozen Florida grapefruit. I love good grapefruit.
In addition to the grapefruit is a delicious looking dark chocolate-coconut-key lime candy bar. Yum! And a beautiful, heavy tin ornament that made a shooshing sound. My cat was immediately interested. Upon opening the card, I saw that Reepicheep mentioned tea. Huh. Ah, the ornament! So I inspected it and sure enough it opened to reveal lovely, smoke-scented loose tea. The ornament is now out of the reach of the cat and I’ll be trying the tea tomorrow. After I have grapefruit for breakfast.
Thank you Reepcheep. You certainly brightened my week!
One more thing, can you PM me about the tea and about the tea of your own region. I’m always interested.
I’m so sorry person I have but I haven’t sent anything yet. I promise this weekend I will get your gift and send it ASAP! Life and work and just…ugh…sorry sorry sorry!!!
I received my gift today from Slightly Askew. Thank you! It is a totally goody box with Lindt Chocolates, and homemade peanut brittle MUAH–all mine!!! There are also two wrapped gifties that I am saving for Christmas Eve/morning. Thank you so much S.A. Merry Christmas!
I want to let my Santee know that in addition to the card and package I mailed, they will also be getting something from a commercial supplier. But I was told the scheduled arrival date is 12/30 for that item.
I decided to open my present early - thank you so much Peedin!
I can’t wait to use those home-made cards, the scarf is PERFECT, and the soap smells amazing! The ornament is fantastic as well. I’m afraid that I left the nail file in its wrapper and my dog thought it was candy while I was at work, so it was eaten by him, but thank you so much! You’re the best!
I could not wait til Christmas so this morning I opened the soft prezzies. Slighty Askew made me the best ornament–an effalump, red felt with blanket stitching and French knots and a few perfectly placed sequins. Thank you so much! I must admit I got teary eyed. She also made me two adorable hearts, one from red felt and one from black felt, both with blanket stitching. (I must confess I don’t know their purpose). Lovely handwork–I feel so special knowing she made these just for me.
P.S. The peanut brittle is history, but the candy is unopened.
Alas, your lovely package will not be seeing any surf. It does have a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Thank you so much, Swampspruce for the most beautiful box of chocolates I have ever seen. I have not yet tried them because they are so beautiful, but I am sure I will soon. The jam is delicious and I had some this morning with breakfast.
Hello** Rhiannon**, I thought all of California had ocean views… I was worried they might not get there intact; I’m very glad they did and that you are enjoying the jam! Believe me that the chocolates taste every bit as good as they look. Merry Christmas!
**Baker!! **I got your package and your card today. I opened the card, but not the package yet - and I won’t until Christmas Eve unless you tell me I should. Thank you! I can hardly wait to see what’s inside!
Peedin, I am so glad that you like the elephant. It’s the first time I made an elephant ornament. I was trying to go for dark pink and navy since you said you liked those colors.
The hearts are actually bookmarks. I stole the idea from here.
I am happy that you enjoyed the peanut brittle as well. It’s a family favorite.
Slightly Askew, yes indeed the effalump,is dark pink and navy! I opened it at night with just the tree lights but now in daylight I see the real, colors. And the book marks are totes clever!
My secret Santa package arrived today, st Nicholas day for us Julian calendar types. I have a lovely package from Washington.
A fantastic picture of ruby beach, a Bigfoot air freshener, perfect as I don’t have a real pine tree, goat soap, that smells amazing, coffee beans, the write up on the package sounds intriguing,Star Trek sticker, and Star Wars candy. Thank you so much! I really enjoyed the box full of Washington.
