I got another package tonight from Rockford, IL! An adorable sock monkey (she has been named Susan and has been appointed the new mascot of my minivan rear view mirror) and a bunch of Tootsie Rolls! My kids were very very pleased with this development.
Got my present from Sarabellum1976 today! (Who knew the USPS delivered on Sunday?) Thank you so much for everything! I love the fuzzy, chenille scarf. It will come in handy when I go to visit family in northern Minnesota. And it matches my coat. I also got a peppermint candle – it smells sooooo good, a jigsaw puzzle with antique toys on it (I love puzzles!) and fancy chocolates. Thanks again! Merry Christmas!
I’m so pleased to hear it arrived so quickly. I’m even more pleased that you enjoyed everything! I hope I didn’t ramble too much in the letter. Happy Holidays!
If my count is correct, we still have five people who have not posted that they have sent a gift. If you need to drop out, please let me know. Several people have volunteered as backup should the need arise.
My sister lived in Rockford for decades and now lives in Rockton. And her name is Susan! But she doesn’t have and isn’t a sock monkey. Although I have a sock monkey named Underpants.
I got a package from freckafree! There is a cute note card showing a dachshund in a tux on the front of it. There is a box of chocolates with creamy peanutbutter filling.(I know, I’ve dipped into them already. And I love the wooden serving platter, real maple! It’s really nice.
Sorry I haven’t checked in! Sent mine on Saturday. The delay is all my fault - I was out of town on two separate trips and kept missing the PO’s open days/hours.
Just to let my Santa know, I’m going to be away from today until the 28th, so if it arrives during that time, I won’t be able to post about it.
I was expecting to be here til Christmas eve, but I’m going to visit the parents a few days as their business recently got flooded, and needs extra hands for clear up… They don’t generally have working internet so I probably won’t be able to post again til I get back either, so Merry Christmas to everyone!
Baker, I wanted to let you know that your second gift came today - thanks so much for the fruit-n-nut treats!! I can say they’re 100% healthy because they have fruit in them, right?
After getting those in this evening’s mail, I also opened the package you sent earlier - and I love love love the mug - the sunflower is the Kansas state flower, right? I love the size of it, and the nice comfy handle and everything about it! And I bet no one here has a KC Royals championship shot glass either, not even Roy Williams! (I seem to be getting a collection of shot glasses from other Dopers … love how they all have story behind them).
Ooh! Ooh! I just opened the most wonderful package from Carnut! Everything is perfect! I am wearing the awesome recycled plastic purple earrings even as we speak! I’m saving the beautiful little poinsettia truffles till later, and I’m not sharing.
The socks are a hoot! They have a little girl on a bike and say “Hellraiser.”
The homemade balm smells wonderful and I’ll definitely use it. I ride my bike all winter, and I tend to get chapped skin as a result.
The purple alpaca (at least I think it’s an alpaca!) key chain is great. The one thing I didn’t mention in my list of ideas is that I also am into fiber art. The alpaca is soon going to be hanging from my rearview mirror.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the very cute cat magnets – from a cat rescue, no less.
Thank you, thank you! You outdid yourself. Merry Christmas to you and yours, and to all Dopers near and far.
romansperson, the coffeemug is of local make. A guy at the Farmer’s Market has all sorts of fired work like that, and I’ve sent the same style of mug to another Doper in a different exchange. If I was rich, or a lottery winner, I’d love to comission a set of matching tableware like the artist has. I love sunflower theme decorations too, it is our state flower.
It would seem that my package did not in fact arrive on time; an unfortunate but not surprising development. I apologize to my Santee for not having something to open on Christmas morning. But it will be a nice surprise, I hope, for New Year.
