SDMB Secret Santa Gift Exchange 2016

Reepicheep, I’m so glad you like your gift. Some detail. Pearson’s has been producing candy for over 100 years in St. Paul, MN. The tea is a local winter blend that is lovely on a chilly day. The little coin purse was made by a local Hmong woman. I always use these coin purses because they are just so beautifully crafted. The photo and the earrings are by the same artist. The wings aren’t actually wood but clay, so beware that that can chip. I love having excuses to patronize local artists. You listed green and purple among your color choices so that is what I chose. Enjoy!

Reepicheep - Looks like you just got yours from carnut, and I just got mine from you. It was delivered today and a welcome surprise. I’ve been sick with a bad cold all week, and worked through it, so I was just laying on the couch trying to recuperate when I heard the porch door slam shut. I walked out to find your package and, at least for a minute, felt better. I called my wife in from the other room so we could check it out together.

First, we both loved your card with the Florida flair. Very nice touch. The USF candle votives are pretty cool, as our local team (Louisville Cardinals) played them a lot back when we were in the same conference. The real deal Florida oranges were cool too. I’ll probably have one, but my wife will LOVE them, so I’ll let her have most of them. She looked at them and her eyes lit up like one of those cartoons where the eyes pop out of the head a bit, lol. The Paulo Coelho audiobook is awesome! I really loved “The Alchemist”, and checking out my Facebook was a nice move. I may listen to it this week at work. My wife will probably enjoy it as well, as she too liked “The Alchemist”.

So thank you! for my first ever Secret Santa gift! That was fun. I hope that when my person opens theirs it makes them just as happy as you’ve made me. I hope they don’t have to be sick though first, lol.

(Oh, and as an aside, I was reading your name off the box when opening and I said out loud
“reepicheep, I wonder what in the world that is” and my wife smiled and said that it’s a character in the Narnia books, books that just just bought and is currently reading. Pretty cool.)

Got my package from Nayna today. A very nice selection of candies from Pennsylvania. Thank you, the diet will have to wait.

Went to the post office today.

I don’t have the receipt in front of me, but I can’t imagine it WOULDN’T be there come Tues or Wed or so., it’s not going too too far…

Excellent choices, Slightly Askew. Homemade candy is very good, thanks. I haven’t tried the mustard yet, but looking at the available flavored on the bottle, the jalapeño is the one I would have chosen if I was picking it out for myself . And the T shirt was just what I meant by something local. All is very much appreciated, you couldn’t have done better, if you had known me for years.

Thanks

justanothermike I am so glad you got the package today. Sorry you’ve been ill, I hope resting over the weekend helps, as well as only one of the oranges. You are a good man and a great husband to give you wife the other ones. The votives are made by a local family – one of the kids is at USF so they wanted a unique way to support the team.

Tread so glad that you like everything. Happy Holidays!

Santa came to my house! The box was on the front porch waiting for me when I got home today. Let’s see…there was a very unique handmade pottery vase (which will look awesome this spring when it has flowers in it), a warm headband to cover my ears (perfect since I hate wearing winter hats), a lovely little sparkly box and yellow stoned bracelet in a pretty mesh bag, two packs of labels for holiday baking and canning gifts, four garden themed placemats, and last but certainly not least, a jar of Border Town Hot salsa from Texas.

I went against proper procedure of thanking the giver of the gift before using it, and opened the jar of salsa and dove in–totally awesome. I could drink this stuff. Good flavor with a very nice kick at the end. I’m afraid the jar will not last long at all (maybe not even until Wednesday or Thursday of this week…).

Thank you so much, joyfool!

I got my prezzies! All the way from Bristol England (where filbert is doing the Bristol Stomp). ** Nuts** sent me the cutest hand felted robin ornament, lip balm made locally, and TWO barns of British chocolate (milk chocolate with butterscotch, and milk chocolate with chili and lime). Thank you so much filbert! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

Well, my package was all packed up and ready to go on Saturday, so I bopped off to the Post Office to mail that sucker out. Only to discover that you apparently can’t mail packages when the customer service counter is closed. So my package got mailed out only today. I hope that it gets to my Santee by Christmas, but pre-emptive apologies if it doesn’t.

So fun to follow everyones packages.

I sent my package today from Spain, my country of birth, where I am spending Christmas with my family. Hope it will make it to its recipient reasonably soon!

My package is finally sent. I expect it will arrive at it’s overseas destination by Twelfth Night. Hopefully sooner. Sorry for being so late.

Glad it made it there OK, and I hope you like the chocolate (the butterscotch one is my favourite).

You know, I’ve never heard of the Bristol Stomp, I shall have to learn it forthwith! Hope you have a lovely Christmas too!

My package is on the way and I was told it should get there Friday or Saturday, so fingers crossed. I reused a box with lots of crap printed all over it so I wrapped it and I REALLY hope that doesn’t gum up the postal equipment.

I received my box from swampspruce and since it arrived the day we got our tree and set it up, that package had the honor of being the 1st wrapped gift to bask in the glow.
(That box was wrapped up all nicely and travelled a very long way, so I’m hoping my paper wrapping will survive the journey, since it’s got the shipping address on it!)

It’s Christmas!!!

I received a wonderful handmade trivet/coaster from freckafree!

It was from her neighbor at an art show and it has the numbers 216 on it, which is the area code from Cleveland (her local city). But, to placate the sports fan in me, each number has a shoutout to a Cleveland sports team. The 2 has the Cavalier’s sabre in it, the 1 is an Indians feather and the 6 has the striping of the Browns.

It’s a perfect gift because it’s both beautiful and functional. Thank you thank you!

With my SDMB box. Yay!!

So my gift is on the way and should be here by Friday, hopefully. I’m honoured Purplehorseshoe, I hope you enjoy!

Thank you Sir T-Cups for all the fun presents. I got a glass shark ornament that will be on the tree momentarily. I also got a Disney luggage tag, and peppermint bark in a Disney tin. The candy will likely be my after dinner treat. I especially like the retro kitchen towel. It’s really cool and fun and I need to find somewhere to hang it up. I will have to investigate catstudio, the maker of the kitchen towel. Thanks so much for everything! Merry Christmas!

I’m so glad you liked it!
