I have to agree with this, unfortunately. I’m not sure exactly why, but last year and this year, packages that I shipped to Canada took more than two weeks to get to their destinations. It might be holds in customs, I don’t know, but that’s farging ridiculous, imho.
I have done my duty as replacement santa by sending my gift on it’s happy little way. I am not sure how quick Amazon is at shipping overseas but I guess we’ll find out.
So here it is, the 1st of February, and I have not received a gift. I know that my gift was supposed to be coming from Canada, but it’s been three weeks since I was told it was shipped.
Did I get re-assigned?
And I just did a search … it seems as if my giftee never posted about having received their gift. Stupid border guards.
Anaamika, if you’re following this, a gift from your replacement Secret Santa was dropped off at the post office at noon. It should arrive on Monday, with any luck. I hope you like it!

Yes, you were in the group of people that I mentioned reassigning in my post on the 19th. Your original Santa said that she was also sending you something else, since the first one didn’t arrive. At least one of the gifts really should be there by now. As for the gift you sent out, it’s one of the ones that must have gotten lost or is still being held in customs or something. So I set it up so that the person you sent a gift to would get a new gift from the person you were to receive from, hoping that it might be able to reach the giftless Canadian in a reasonable period of time (since they’re in the same country). Then I assigned you to an American.
I haven’t received anything either. Apparently something has been mailed, but was abducted by aliens. Actually two people have said they sent me Secret Santa gifts this year - my Secret Santa from this year, as well as a Secret Santa from a couple of years ago that never got around to sending anything. I must be on the naughty list.
I sent out my package late, but it’s a couple of weeks ago now, and I was told it would be there in about a week, so hopefully it has arrived. I haven’t heard anything.
Alice, you’re another one of the people that I mentioned having reassigned on the 19th. Everyone who said that they didn’t get something, got another Santa. Your new Santa is Canadian (I was talking about the two of you in my post above yours, and she was given your info on the 19th. Also, your Santee still hasn’t gotten anything yet either. I tried sending you an email about it a few days back, but never got a response, so I signed her up with another Doper. I’m not sure what happened to all the gifts going back and forth across the border, but maybe they’ll arrive someday.

Oh, dear. I am extremely touched and happy to hear this, but - I just got my gift from my original Santa!
My original Santa sent me:
a Maple Sugar Candle (yum - makes me want to eat it!)
A Glass candle base
Incense sticks - mandarin orange
and 2 long purple stick candles
I love it all! And it seems I am going to be getting another one come Monday…I feel bad, but in exchange, next years Santa’s I will gladly sign up for two people and/or be a replacement.

Holy crap. I just got Siege’s present and I am beyond flabbergasted. Siege, you are WAY too generous. I had to make a list, there were so many things. First, there were the unwrapped things:

[/li][li]A glass vase with Siege’s own sugar - rose, lavender and lilac-scented, with plenty more in a bag for backup.[/li][li] A glass vase with Siege’s own spice, scented with ginger, clove, and ylang yland, and also a refill.[/li][li]1 large package sea salt.[/li][li] 1 package “Blessed Earth Propserity Bath Salts”[/li][li] A blue glass dish - sadly, this is broken. :)[/li][li] Berry soothing bath salt[/li][li] 4 individual candles - Rain Forest, Cinnamon Apple, Black Cherry, and Citrus[/li][li] 1 small candle holder perfect for the above[/li][/ul]
Then there were the wrapped things, with cute little messages on:
“Hearts on Fire” was a package of heart-shaped floating candles.
“Or just heartburn” was a floating heart in the prettiest shade of pink ever.
“Paging Hot Lips” was 4 hot lip-shaped candles, also floating.
“Hawkeye and BJ are along, too!” were pink & yellow shirt-shaped candles.
“Go Fish” was a lovely fish-shaped candle holder with a candle in it.
“Mmmm! My favorite” was 3 pieces of candy shaped like chocolate.
Siege, you totally outdid yourself and I am impressed and humbled…they are beautiful. Everything is beautiful, and it was so much fun to open. WOW!

I always used to be jealous of my Brother-in-law’s collection of ahem, ‘toilet books’ as he used to call them (bathroom books for you Stateside dopers). He’s got interesting book collection that you can ‘dip’ in and out of while you’re…er…there! I once read (dubious) that the bathroom was the preferred reading room of Elvis, a fact which I learned from one of those books!
Way out in West Virginia is definately the sort of book that you can dip in and out of, but it’s too nice to keep in my bathroom, so I’m reading it while I’m working on simulations (waiting for them to finish) at my computer. Definately great for keeping me occupied!
