Yikes! I forgot to add my SDMB name! And was I supposed to wrap it?
Oh, by the way. Someone is going to get a Dominican cookbook written by yours trully. You’ll know when you get it.
Mine is going out today. Unwrapped, but my username is definitely on it! And I really hope my recipient will like it.
Mine went out on Friday, wrapped and everything. I know I didn’t put my name on it though, I thought it was supposed to be secret and all that!
And then I bought myself something too, just to make sure I didn’t screw up and not give a gift to the first name I got.
So, just as a matter of curiousity, it costs me a little over twice as much as the gift is worth to post it! But I’m hoping my Doper loves it, if it doesn’t break. Picunurse got broken ducks for the elephant exchange we had. I sure hope this doesn’t break 'cause it will be messy!
Oh, and it’s not really what it says on the shipping thing, I had to put that because Canada Post wouldn’t let me send what I sent unless I put “cookies” on it instead of what really was in the box because…I really don’t know why.
I packed it with lots of stuff in it so it wouldn’t break…but we’ll see! Went in the mail today.
My gift is now winging its way westward. Hee hee! I hope the recipient gets as much enjoyment out of it as I did making it.
I mailed my gift off first thing this morning. With any luck they should get it tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that. Any more days and I won’t consider it lucky anymore.
Mine is sent! I hadn’t realised what an utter procrastimonster I’d been lately, so put this off and off. I mean, how hard is it to buy something, wrap it and post it? NOT HARD.
But since doing this little thing put me in such a doing-things mood, I joined the gym across the road from the Post Office!
Thanks, SDMB Secret Santa!
Well, I bought the gift yesterday, wrapped it today, and I should be able to hit the post office and mail it tomorrow.
So, are y’all going to wait to open yours, or are you ripping into 'em when they hit your doorstep?
I haven’t gotten mine yet, but I can’t decide what I’ll do. I’m such a curious cat, but on the other hand, I know pretty much everything I’m getting from my family, so it would be nice to have one surprise on Christmas morning…
Oh, I am going to rip mine open the minute it arrives - I have no patience
I’m in the middle of final exams week, and I kind of want to wrap the stuff in mine, because tearing off wrapping paper can be so much fun! Anyway, the parts of mine are bought, one part is being knitted, and exams end Friday, so I promise to have it out by the deadline. I’m not going a SuperGifter like Shirley and have it out three seconds after I get the name…
I put my Secret Santa gift in the mail today! WHOOHOOO!!!
My Christmas shopping is FINISHED!!!
Yay! My shopping is done too, as well as the sewing I needed to do to finish one friend’s gift. I’m so glad that is no longer hanging over my head. The only thing I still have to do is bake for a cookie party and swap, but that’s fun.
I got mine yestiddy!
Kinda funny story: My giftor is from Gaithersburg Maryland. My family lives in Gaithersburg Maryland. The return name was “Main” which I mistakenly thought said “Mom” Cool. Mom sent me something. Maybe cookies. Opened the package and I knew what it was. It was a Page-a-Day calendar. I knew the wrapped present was a page-a-day calendar because my mom has been giving me one of those for, no lie, 30 years, since I was 9 years old. It’s kind of a tradition. I know what it look like wrapped since I have unwrapped 30 of the suckers. Opened it up, and it’s a History Page-a-Day. Mom scores again. She knows I’m a history buff, and it’s kinda nice to not get another Dave Barry calendar. I don’t understand why she mailed it to me though. I’m coming home for Christmas on the 20th. So I call her to thank her. The line is silent. I can’t remember the exact response, but it was along the lines of “Who, in the what, now?”
To make the story a little shorter, I reexamined the wrapping and the mailer envelope, and realize it is from my secret Doper. Then I have to explain to my mom about the Straight Dope. And message boards.
“It’s a place where you post messages to other people, mom.”
“You can post about anything. Ask questions, talk with like-minded people from around the world.”
“On the computer, mom. You type on the keyboard and then click a button and everyone can read what you wrote.”
“No, it’s Dope, as in real information, not drugs.”
“I said, it’s not about drugs mom.”
“I don’t do drugs, mom.”
“No, mom, I won’t give out my credit card number.”
“I know, mom, someone can steal your credit card number if you give it out. I won’t do that.”
Anywho… I’ve decided not to post the details on my explaining to her how some stranger could know I’m a history buff.
I made a cursory glance for the name of my Doper and couldn’t find it, and I don’t think “Main” is a Doper name. So, whoever you are, thank you for taking the time to learn that I’m a history fan, and getting me a calendar.
P.S. My mom is kind of relieved to not have to bother with the calendar this year.
The real problem is when you try to explain your user name…
Heh.
Next time tell her you gave up those suspicious message boards and their evil members and now surf only for porn.
A total hijack, my neighbor’s user name somewhere out there is: Harry Anus.
Yes, I got my SS gift mailed out today! I feel like I’ve accomplished something!
And now, only 12 more gifts to purchase…
Mine goes out in tomorrow’s mail.
Okay – just mailed mine. (Regular first class, since it was rather small and light; the clerk thought it would get there in a day or two.) I put “SDMB” next to my return address, to avoid that whole “Philly? I don’t know anyone in Philly!” moment when it gets there.
Hope my Santa-ee likes it! frets
