Secret Santa 2006

Any orphans left?

Nope, the celebrities have adopted them all.

Mine will go out this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
I put viva/sdmb on my address label, the recipient’s username on the left side of the box, and the box itself says PICKLED SLICED BEETS on the sides.
Distinctive enough?

I have the gift, it’s wrapped, I have a box, now I just need to get to a post office. Maybe tomorrow, I hope …

Apparently my gift came, from the email I got from my mother (I live in a sketchy apartment with no place to get packages). I waiting until Christmas morning, though.

So has anyone actually received and opened a present yet?

You mean you haven’t received that box of Kleenex I sent you?!?!?

My mother said some package came for me. It might be this, but I didn’t want to ask because she gets kind of freaked out with the idea of me giving my address out (gasp) over the internet. So, when I go home on Saturday (finals are almost over!), we shall see.

My package went out today Priority Mail, and should arrive at it’s destination on time. I put my user name inside on the card, so if you receive a smallish square Priority Mail box from Santa’s neighborhood, it’s safe to open it!

I wish a wonderful holiday season to everyone here.

That would be me. I couldn’t figure out what to get you since I didn’t see anything in the thread. So I went looking and saw you liked history. So last week I gave blood and left work early. I started thinking, what to get, what to get. Then I figured that a page a day calender about history would be good, if they make something like that.

Off to the mall I go, search the calender store only to find nothing. That’s odd I, one would think someone would make something about history, there’s one for everything else. Then I see it, the last one. So I got that and my Dilbet calender that I get every year. I didn’t put my name down, but I did put SDMB Secret Santa on the label. That’s funny you thought it was from your mom though. Be even funnier if she lived down the street.

Woot woot! I got the most perfect Secret Santa today! How did Santa know that I love flavored hot chocolate and vanilla-scented bath products! Oh wait, Santa knows everything.

There were three canisters of chocolate mix (woo hoo) and a kit of vanilla body wash, scrubby puff, and vanilla bath salts. The last is perfect because although I only have a shower, my friends just built a soaking tub and I can pass it on!

Thanks so much, Batsinma Belfry!

:stuck_out_tongue:

I sen my package on Sunday, very expensively, with the assurence that it would reach its destination by Tuesday.

I have yet to see any proof that it has arrived.

Stupid Post Office.

I’m going to open mine as soon as I get it…because my hubby won’t let me open anything else…well, except my best friend’s gift because she’s my best friend and only gets stuff for me and I can open it early, I mean I always have, even before we were married…so, really, I can decide if I want to open it or not.

So there.

And I used to open my mom’s gift when we got together before christmas (because she didn’t like my in-laws and hated sitting there opening presents with them so we used to do it beforehand) because she said I could …and did I mention, mom, I really miss you. December 27th is one tough day and starting about this time of year, each day is more difficult. If I didn’t have a family, I wouldn’t celebrate this time of year at all.

Thank god for beer and Baileys - it’s my christmas cheer in a box.

I love you, mom and what I wouldn’t give to hear your voice again.

I just mailed mine from CA this morning, via priority mail. It should arrive in the northeast U.S. by Monday, with any luck.

Yay! Now I can stop worrying about it getting lost in the mail. I’m glad you like it!

Canadiangirl I’m sorry you had a loss so close to Christmas. I lost my mom 5 years ago on Dec. 3.

I’m sorry too Canadiangirl. I can’t imagine the loss of my mom.

I got my gift today! It was in this HUGE box - I took it out to my car and then couldn’t resist, and opened it up!

There are two things. First is this gigantic frosted snowman candle, which I will enjoy burning down gleefully.

Second is a WHOLE BOX of the sample Yankee Candles, which I know go for more than $20 around here! Secret Santa - who signs her card as Kat? is just way too generous.

Plus the card is really cool. It’s a bunch of melted snowmen on an ice lake, around a fire-in-a-barrel, and one is saying “Great idea, Carl.” Love it!

Oh, wait. Kat is her username, it seems. Man, how do you ever do searches?

Thanks again!

My dad and I have (had) birthdays 5 days apart.

His was on the 26th and mine is on the 31st of December.

Every year on his birthday we’d set up our drum kits across from each other and have a “drum battle”, and he always “put me in the dirt” because he was the better drummer of the two of us, even in his 70’s.

He died in 95 and I still have a tough time on that day, so I can definitely relate, CanadianGirl.

He got me out of a severe stuttering problem by teaching me drums and rhythm when I was little, so I am with you in missing him as you miss your Mom.

I got a rock!

Oh, wait, no I didn’t. I got a Rocking Clock! A Discovery Channel Rocking Clock, in fact, if you care to go Googling. It’s basically a Weeble; you bonk it and it rocks back and forth and the LCD numbers go all wonky.

Definitely fun! And another timewaster at my desk, just what I need. It also shows temperature and has an alarm, which is neat, perfect for quickie naps on the couch. We can never have too many alarm clocks scattered around this house; never know when the Snooze Fairy will arrive!

So thanks, Anaamika! Very cool!
