It’s way cool. It is for sure something I would not have found in a book store in LA.
Woo! It made it! In one piece! Hurray! Have you tasted the glögi yet?
I had to run out right after I got the mail last night, but it is definitely tonight’s project!
Well it’s almost 6pm here and nothing in the mail. Whoever got me, I think you now officially have reason to pit USPS
Dec. 28, nothing yet.
Dec 28th, nothing here either.
Nothing here for me either. And my giftee hasn’t got his either.
What is up with USPS?!
Mighty_Girl, the USPS said that your package was delivered last Friday. Is the package being forwarded from the address I sent it to (in FL)? If not, and you never received it, then I guess I need to send a replacement package. Let me know.
Nothing yet, but still hoping…
Jahdra. Yes. It is resent from my Miami address down here. I forgot to ask if there was anything for me, but it was already sent and I’ll get it later today.
As for my shipment to EuroMDGuy, well, it seems as if the darn ponies at USPS died on the way to Germany.
In our site we have a shop that sells (mostly) Dominican cookbooks. I had to resend three purchases that never made it even if they were shipped in the beginning of December and even end of November.
I think I might pit USPS some time this weekend.
EuroMDGuy, if you don’t get the book by Tuesday I’ll resend it. Please post sometime in the evening.
:: grumble, grumble ::
The postman just stopped by. Thanks Jahdra! What a lovely gift, and it’s like you knew me.
Gift. no. 1 was a pack of Mighty Tea. Heh! I am just about to try it.
Gift no. 2 is a fancy teacup. Not like you knew it, but I collect loose pieces of serving ware. I do a lot food photography and have an extensive collection of bits and pieces, but I didn’t have a teacup like that. I am planning to make photos of pastry and will use your cup. I’ll let you know when it’s online.
Thanks.
Oh, good, it made it! I love Mighty Tea, and it seemed especially appropriate in your case. There’s a matching saucer in there somewhere, too. Er, I hope there is, and that it arrived in one piece as well.
I knew that you were a foodie, and a cookbook author, so I kept my fingers crossed that you enjoyed tea, too. All civilized people do, after all.
I am back from my Christmas vacation and Susie Derkins extra fun and funky Secret Santa gift was waiting in my mail box. It started out with a nice homemade card and her intention to aim to please. Then stuffed inside a Christmas stocking were a hand held bell shaker, some Beemans and Black Jack chewing gum, some salt-n-vinegar crickets, a Tinker Toys key chain with honest to goodness real Tinker Toys included, some chocolate mice inside a wedge of cheese, $100 bill tissues, and a Funky Fresh Sizzling Bacon Air Freshener. This was absolutely the most fun gift I received this year, so if you were aiming to please I’d say you hit the bullseye. Thanks!
Canadiangirl, has your package still not arrived?
If it hasn’t, I can always send the gift that I looked for in multiple stores and didn’t find until the day after my trip to the post office.
I am so glad that you liked it, dbygawdcapn! The crickets looked like a good conversation piece more than anything…but if you eat one I want to know how they taste!

Wipes a tear…
She called me… civilized. Nobody has ever said anything that nice about me.
The saucer arrived in one piece too. And I just tried the tea, strong brew it is, but very nice.
I got my gift today!!!
And may I just say that creaky is the most awesomest gifter ever…She picked things exactly right, from my list of options:
very cute and cool striped purple socks;
a bag of chocolate cranberry crunch–yum!;
8 o’clock coffee, which I had never heard of but which my Pennsylvania-bred mom says is really good and probably not available out here;
six-pack of Hersheys special dark chocolate bars;
box of Earl Grey Tea (does creaky know that I am a fan of Captain Picard?
)
lovely set of berry/purple earrings and necklace;
four purple berry/grape (?) candles;
cute card and even cuter purple striped wrapping!
I see she mailed the package on the 18th, which should have been plenty of time for the postal folks to send it this way…oh well, it doesn’t matter. It’s just fantastic. Thanks!!!
welby, has your gift come yet?
Well, I don’t know if it’s the right parcel but when I returned from Elliott Lake, there was a notice from Purolator that there was a parcel for me waiting for pick up at the local mall. I got home at 6:15, thought the card said open 'til 8, got there and they close at 6:00. So now I have to wait until Tuesday because nothing is open here until then! Stupid mall!
So, I’ll post on Tuesday.
congodwarf - did you send it by purolator? Is it the package at the mall? Or do I get a couple more days of Christmas anticipation?
