Secret Santa 2006

Finally got the stuff I bought online (only took 17 days! Thanks stupid online company!) and sent the package on its way yesterday. I have emailed my recipient to let him know that Christmas has been extended this year, and he says it’s fine. All is well!

It came! It came! I got a candy cane (which is awesome; I’ve been going through those things like crazy), a candy cane ornament, a horse figurine, with a baby zebra to keep it company (such a cute, eclectic little family- the zebra is adorable, and I know a horse that looks just like the figurine), a pretty glittery card and, last but not least, a recipe book with Hershey’s Cocoa. That’s right, folks- 37 recipes filled with chocolaty goodness. I don’t know which one to try first! And to make matters even better, there’s a really good-looking chocolate cake recipe in there- I’ve been looking for The Perfect Chocolate Cake Recipe for just about forever.

You did wonderfully, Tarragon918! Thanks so, so much!

::jumps up and down in excitement, runs to the kitchen::

My gift doesn’t appear to have arrived yet. I’m a wee bit annoyed. It was supposed to take 4-5 business days and it has been 5 business days, plus two Saturdays.

The PO lady made me take them out of the box and put them in a big envelope. She said it would go faster. I hope the envelope didn’t get destroyed.

Nothing arrived here, yet. :frowning:
Never mind, it’ll be a nice surprise on the 27th, probably

I am so glad that the package -finally- arrived, Monica! That Quasimodem got a bit tricky with us, didn’t he? I am also glad that you liked your presents; I wasn’t sure about the horse & zebra figurines (wish I had been able to find a colt or filly one!) so am really glad that you like them. Those Hershey recipes are very good, btw, so enjoy yourself with that too. It’s always good to have a real home-made cake! And the brownie recipe … it’s delicious, let me assure you.

Anyway, so sorry that it took so long, but it did get to you before Christmas. Happy Holidays!

My Secret Santa Package arrived! I was on the phone with Mr. SCL when I was bringing it in, and he was telling me I had to wait until Christmas, which I of course couldn’t here for the sounds of ripping tape and squeals of glee at seeing all the wrapped gifts!

The lovely Haze sent me three books, an kitty-cat notepad, some yummy smelling rosemary mint lotion, a funny shmooshy head perfect for throwing at cats and/or husbands, an entire net ball of wonderful hard rubber balls the cats are chasing aound the suite as we speak, and some intriguing foil wrapped things that have “tasty food” on the label but no clue as to the contents. Which means of course I must open and eat! … Oh my - some sort of granola-y chocolate-y goodness!

Thank you so much!

If anyone posted to Canada, that is, Ontario, more particularly Newmarket, no secret santa yet! Oh, well, more reaon to get excited after christmas!

one more reason, dammit.

Haven’t gotten my gift in the mail yet. Oh well, things seem to be taking a bit longer this year. I’ll just have an extra pressie to open after Xmas!

I am mad at USPS. I shipped my gift two weeks ago and it hasn’t made it to Europe. What do they use? Rowing boats? >(

SnakesCatLady, I’m glad to know you got your package on time. After I read your post a little while ago, I gleefully ripped into the box that WhyNot sent to me so quickly.

What a haul! I opened;

Some bath salts. They smell delightful. I’m planning for a good long soak tonight or tomorrow night. WhyNot made these!

A pretty glass beaded bracelet. It’s on my right wrist. The beads are a deep green - a perfect match for a jacket I have.

A stretchy blue beaded bracelet. WhyNot said that her baby chose this one. That child has good taste. It’s very delicate and is about 1 1/2" wide, stretchy, and in a sort of diamond-y design. It’s on my left wrist. I really, really like it.

Then came some bubbles! They are the kind that don’t pop right away. I immediately blew and blew and blew them until the family told me to stop, for heaven’s sake and go OUTSIDE with the bubbles already… I looked in the family room and they were everywhere. Honey the dog was eating them and sneezing. I guess they are tickly? I made a snowman, a crown for Shadow the dog, and a mess LOL.

Next was some massage/body oil. It smells great.

I opened a package of four pens next, in blue, green, purple and pink. I tested the blue one first and it’s just perfect. I sell on Half.com and Amazon and needed some smooth rolling pens to address packages. They’re exactly right.

Last was a flat, hard item. It 's a picture frame and is by far my favorite item. WhyNot put an insert in it with a SDMB Secret Santa 2006 logo thingy. I’m going to leave that in for a while before putting a picture in there because I like it.

WhyNot said I could regift if I want to. No way! Everything was gift wrapped and it was fun to rip into.
SnakesCatLady, I hope you liked everything! It was fun to wrap your gifts.

Yay! I’m so glad you liked everything, purple haze!

I knew you received it a while ago, but then you never posted anything else, and I’ve been sitting here worried you hated it all. Now I learn you are just the most patient Doper ever and actually held onto the thing for three weeks before opening it! I like that version better.

I don’t know if the SDMB has an official logo, but I made up what I think it should be. Here’s roughly what the insert in the picture frame looks like:

Secret Santa 2006

Only the writing’s white on a background of purple haze. Seemed more fun than a picture of some strange model family, which I always find a little disconcerting in picture frames.

And I love yours too kaiwik–A cute little stone bear (complete with fish in his mouth), a set of 4 nesting dolls (reminds me of my Russian heritage), and a bag of chocolate covered dried berries (to be washed down with NYC coffee tomorrow).

The post office got both our packages from one coast to the other. It’s a Holiday Miracle.

Thanks to all the Secret Santas for the fun of this thread, the biggest Thanks and a tip of my Santa hat to Quasimodem for a great job!

My Secret Santa sent me a book on strange parking structures in England. Very offbeat and very cool book.
Thanks so much Santa!
No word on the gift I sent…

Great. Now I’m gonna have to brave those damned After-Christmas-Sale hounds to find these. I’m reading this thread at almost midnight and silently wondering if any stores would be open…now.

I’m so glad you liked it, I thought it was a good idea until after it went in the post then I thought perhaps not!

Yay! I got my present! It’s a Texas mug (says “You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas. -Davy Crockett”) filled with Hershey’s kisses. Yum! Thanks a lot Santa! I don’t know who you are, but in response to your inquiry, yes I DO like coffee! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

I gots a Gift Card for Starbucks!
Who could ask for anything more!
Thanks, Thalion!

It’s here!!!

Thanks auRa!!!

I got a Finnish cookbook, complete with at least one recipe for reindeer sausage, abd after all what says Christmas better than reindeer sausage?

And gingerbread and something in a bottle with Large Finnish Words that thankfully **auRa **decoded what to do with for me.

::scampering off to find reindeer sausage, or wondering in a pinch if venision would work…come here Bambi, come here…::

Nothing has arrived here yet, so when it gets here, I’m going to call it the Midway-Between-Christmas-and-New-Year’s gift.
